>desktops

come on now

>not using Wire
Look at him. Look at him and laugh.

the audio quality is shit

They have a chrome web app

it does though

no it doesn't

the fuck is this?

'secure' text app

>secure
>made by a jew
>requires (((google botnet)))

phonefags is were the money is at

how does signal even make money?

why you lyin
secure enough to be politician preferred

>politician preferred
yeah because we've learned that those idiots know what they're doing

the newest versions do not require gcm. enough people bitched about it, that it was re-worked. it only uses the google framework if it actually finds it on your phone.

they license the library off to other messenger apps.

ok, how can I run it on my pc without (((chrome)))

and how do they make money?

there's a project to use brave instead

that one you'll probably have to keep waiting for. it'd be nice to see, but i think you're going to be stuck with phone-only chats for a while.

do you think all licenses are free?

brave is just as shit, if not worse.

how about a real fucking client instead of a browser app?

I mean how do the other apps make money then?

let's be honest here, you're never going to use it, you don't give a fuck, so stop the charades. We don't need any more shitty products in the world all because of retards like you who demand it has to run on their raspberry pi makeshift browser you dumb cunt

>let's be honest here, you're never going to use it, you don't give a fuck, so stop the charades.
are you retarded? I constantly use Telegram on my pc. it's neat, but also lacks features on the desktop client

>signal
>privacy
how when you can't hide your phone number from contacts?

>Wire
>Signal
>Telegram

FOR FUCK'S SAKE, WHICH ONE DO I TRUST/CHOOSE?

that costs a lot more money just too cater to a very small population of users, since presumably they think it's comparably secure.

>just too cater to a very small population
like Brave? lmao

>>Wire
if you want the most features
>>Signal
if you want to support a jew
>>Telegram
if you want meme stickers

that project uses Muon, which is apparently a KDE thing. So not exactly big time anyway.

how do telegram and wire make money?

nothing on any phone can really hide your identity. hiding the actual communication is the best you can hope for.

wikileaks proved that encryption is fucking snake oil, since the data is stolen before it's encrypted and or after it's decrypted

probably the usual silicon valley thing of not worrying about that while they acquire a userbase.

whatsapp is still free though

that only matters if you're actively being targeted by the NSA. The best you can do is try to prevent yourself from becoming a target, which encrypted communication does perfectly fine

>that only matters if you're actively being targeted by the NSA
nope, if you read the leaks, you'd know they passively collect data from everyone

I've been using Wire but just discovered Keybase.io, anyone have any opinions on Wire vs Keybase?

they can only do everything that businesses can, the really spooky stuff like encryption breaking is harder and more targeted. If the FBI can't get in without a massive legal battle, you're safe enough.

>Keybase.io
shitty discord/Mattermost clone. stay with wire

are you daft? they don't have to break any encryption, they get the data when it's not encrypted yet or when it's already decrypted.

read the fucking wikileaks

How? Intercepting traffic or are they running procs on everyone's phone in the US?

you can protect yourself from that much, you idiot.

>in the US
hahahha you think this is contained to countries?

read the fucking leaks

android and ios are wide open

Wait is Tox still a thing? I haven't properly been to Sup Forums since late 2014

like what? writing your own os? :^)

reminder that the leaks proved gnu/linux is also wide open

I don't actually mind the way Discord looks and feels, I'm just more interested in which one has actual better security/cryptography.

Also does anyone know if Wire uses Electron for the desktop app?

You are making bold claims. Can you even mention one thing specifically before I bother reading it all?

you're just a fucking Sup Forums conspiracy theorist. You can still control the flow of information out of your devices. It's just harder.

>theorist
I don't need to theorize when evidence is leaked.

you people are lazy and just want to be spoon fed.

even googleing the issue would spoon feed you to the specific leaks

>I'm just more interested in which one has actual better security/cryptography.
wire.

any discord clone is guaranteed shit

Because its phone only for now

what a useless reply

>ok, how can I run it on my pc without (((chrome)))

you can't.

We have to wait for Signal to become a multidevice protocol and for somebody to make a real autonomous client

>make unsubstantiated claims in the face of audited software
>just google it :^)
nah fuck you

>was even in the news
>have to spoon feed clueless faggets
nah

>>privacy
>how when you can't hide your phone number from contacts?

You are confusing privacy with anonymity.

Signal is not for you. At least until they decide to allow signup without a phone number.

>he doesn't use jabber

wew

>how do telegram and wire make money?

they both said they will offer premium features when they have a big enough userbase.

The question is pretty googlable so what else is there to say?

>I constantly use Telegram
AHAHAHAHAHAHA
HOW EMBARRASSING

{{{{{{{selling user data}}}}}}}}}

How can they sell user data if the clients are open source?

>claim literally all internet-connected software is vulnerable to data collection at all times
>'bruh it's in the news don't you watch the news'
I don't watch performing artists for my news thanks

the news doesn't have to mean TV, you know that right?

>amerifats

now you're just trying to get the last word in. you're not even making arguments now.

>get btfo
>make useless reply
wow you sure showed him!

wire devs said they were going to add premium features, just like discord, also donations.

you're projecting so hard that i've been projected out of this shit thread.

>no open source project has ever been used to sell user data
*points to ad nauseum*

>projecting this hard about projecting

...do you think the NSA has every computer on earth infected with malware? The leaks showed tools with very specific uses. Those tools are obviously very powerful, but your system needs to first be exposed to the software. Once that's happened, the NSA has to actually be paying attention to you; they're not going to log the contents of some retard's hard drive who's shitposting on Sup Forums. Then, the tools have to remain active on your system, as they were written with failsafes of various kinds to prevent foreign actors from reverse engineering the software. The NSA isn't some godlike entity that sees everything. They have massive data collection capability, but the overwhelming majority of that is passive data collection that can be effectively defeated by half decent encryption. Absolutely that encryption is useless if they specifically target you, but you'd have to be doing something extremely suspicious for the NSA to designate agents to work to infect your system with the tools required to defeat the various forms of encryption that are readily available. If you are security minded, it's not impossible to take steps to protect yourself from the types of attacks shown by the leaks.

>infected with malware
don't need to,

read the leaks and come back when you know what the fuck you're talking about

>A long drawn out response about the leaks
>"Read the leaks"
I'm sorry what

you're talking about the active hacking tools, I'm talking about the passive data collection.
you haven't read about that, because you're not even mentioning it

Do you know what public key encryption is? If yes, do you care to explain what would happen if information came to light that public key encryption had been compromised by the NSA?

I'm guessing that you can't answer the second question because the answer to the first question is a resounding "no." I'm not the one who's talking out my ass, here, son. Go smoke another bowl.

>what would happen if information came to light that public key encryption had been compromised
do you know why the FBI let more than 200 pedos walk and not be taken to court? because they had to disclose how they got the information

if you think muh encryption is anything but a meme, you're in denial.

>FBI
I mean the rest of your post is bull but you're trying to make the FBI look scary? Please leave.

sott.net/article/338953-FBI-caught-letting-pedophiles-go-free-rather-than-revealing-their-investigative-techniques

>I'm completely fucking clueless
>better make a pants on head retarded strawman argument that references a completely different agency that wasn't implicated in the leaks

......ok, next post just say "cash me ousside" because it'd be funnier and also indicate that you've got no idea what you're talking about and have no argument.

>pants on head retarded
backtoreddityougo

Show me an article from a site I've heard of. I ain't even clicking that.
>There isn't one because the MSM is corrupt
Nice way to give up the argument.

I'll go to reddit if you kill yourself as an homage to Darwinism.

>FBI-caught-letting-pedophiles-go-free-rather-than-revealing-their-investigative-techniques

It's pretty obvious that is happening. Why use the big guns for such little fish?

It would be easy to make Telegram premium. Just limit free users to 5GB cloud storage and make people pay for more.

heard of wired you cunt?
