not a winfag but why do you need laser accurate precision in your audio settings

Microsoft doesn't assume Windows 10 users are smart enough/have mice anyway.

Because it would scroll through 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 when 10 is objectively the better setting

>not just controlling the volume on your amp

i just use my keyboard shortcut and don't pay attention to the numbers. currently at 30. nice number if you ask me.

This has got to be the biggest nitpick yet.

something is wrong with your volume control mate

Odd numbers are worse than blacks
Set it to even once
Never get an odd number
Why do you hate features?

>always even

why the fuck would I skip 5

How is Win10? I just ordered a Dell Inspiron with it and I'm scared

Just untick everything that looks like "improvement" and "user experience", disable everything in fact, even Windows Update as well, then install and run O&O ShutUp10 on first boot, restart do whatever update, recheck to see if Windows haven't enabled some telemetry O&O ShutUp10 disabled.
Or install Windows 10 Enterprise for the proper Win10 experience.

why is paint3d so shit

It's good. People just love to freak out. There's some stuff that could be better.

I'd suggest doing a complete reinstall when you get the laptop though. Gets rid of the crapware

I don't know, I don't use Creative update or that Anniversary update.

This has been the case since Vista at least.

Your windows volume should be the last way you control audio levels. Use your fucking amp.

Windows 10 is crapware.

make sure to use gpedit.msc to disable all the automatic download & install updates shit
make sure to also use it to disable windows store if you wanna avoid bloatware being installed
even then, reminder to uninstall candy crush soda saga because you'll get it anyway
if you care about privacy then uncheck every privacy settings and disable telemetry in gpedit.msc

thanks man, screenshotted for future reference
like a system recovery? I have win7 on a usb drive and would love to put it on there but I know dell doesn't make the right drivers for win7 on that laptop so it's not a good idea.

Win10 LTSB

Nah he means that when you reinstall using a non-branded OEM or retail disk you don't have to deal with your HP computers HP bloatware.
I haven't owned a prebuilt PC in 24 years so I have not really had a chance to expose myself to such filth first hand but it basically hogs your HDD/SSD space, slows your boot, slows your performance and most of all, they are badly done and garish looking, and are almost all useless programs nobody would ever use to begin with.

Which Inspiron?

amazon.com/gp/product/B01D27ERMO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

was kind of pissed I couldn't find one with the same specs but with no touchscreen. oh well.

gonna replace the hdd with a ssd

>not turning it up to 11

It's basically an Intel i3, but I think you knew that.
Yeah a SSD will completely change how the laptop behaves.
I brought new life into an old laptop from 2008 by swapping out the 120GB HDD to a 256GB SSD.

Install Windows 10 LTSB, install an SSD, undervolt it and you'll be good to go.

Yep, not asking a lot of this laptop. Just a shitposting machine but I wanted a good resolution, and it's pretty handsome if you ask me. Very subtle design.

Thanks for the help. Especially with win10 ltsb, I love that

Well you picked the right thing then since it's cheap and as you said it have good resolution, unlike the mass-trash that use 1366*768 or similar.

personally, I wish it'd increment by 3's, from 0-FF

I control volume via three-finger trackpad gesture to swipe up/down. The volume moves gradually over every bit of increment with the same accelerated fashion it normally does when tracking the mouse.

This is as good as it gets, and having seen/used many OSes, never been so pleased to control volume in my life.

I think this feature got around with the Creators Update, or maybe its just me finding that out last week.

man this doesn't even affect me and it STILL pisses me off

change mouse settings

This.
Mine goes 0-2-4-6-8...98-100

THIS

It goes from 0 to 2

This is dependent on your scroll wheel settings.

That's because you your scroll settings set to 2 level increments. You can change it back to 1.

Scrolls by how many lines your wheel is set to scroll by

THIS

>OP is an autistic faggot like usual

I got Windows 10 Education through my univeristy, which took out pretty much all of the shit. It's just like a better Windows 7 now. No Cortana bullshitting me, no unnecessary blocks in my start menu, life's good.

Will that expire when you leave university?

It's not directly through the university, but it is only available if the university has a volume licensing program. onthehub.com/download/free-software/windows-10-education-for-students/

I cannot imagine it will stop working when I leave. How would they even know? It's not tied to my university ID or anything.

You don't use keyboard shortcuts... really?

That is incorrect.

No-one will notice the difference, nor give a fuck, but if we're going full autismo: technically analogue volume control degrades audio quality more than digital volume control, so technically...

How old is your build user?

Winaero Tweaker can do this on any build.

So its just a theme tweaker?
Why change that, it look inconsistent with all the new UI on 10 and its one of the most things (retarded) people complain about

It's not a theme tweaker, it's the old native volume control from previous versions. Win10 contains a lot of old bits like this.

I don't know why people would use it. I don't normally, I just demo'd it to show it isn't an "old build" thing.

They made Linux for autist fuckwads like you.

We don't all have amp, in fact most people don't

How is this an argument

>I didn't even know you could use the scroll wheel.

>not having a mixer

Install gentoo

Source on this? Digital audio control would either be partially analog, or would be susceptible to quantization errors.

That's not to say that the quantization errors would be significant even at 16-bit.

>not having the volume set to 10 permanently

WRONG>

AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHA

DEFEND THIS

blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/oldnewthing/20170321-00/?p=95795
explanation why

latest. It's a reg key, made a reg file with a bunch to avoid shit like OPs volume control. You can use WinAeroTweaker too as another user pointed out to modify even more stuff.

WinFag reporting in. Sure it does, what's your point?

If you're not posting from Firefos running on Windows 7, you really have no business being on Sup Forums.

It's literally just a psychological nicety. It's the same reason most people leave their TV volumes on an even number.

>using windows
>using macs
Only real OSs (Linux, BSDs) and obscure shit are acceptable here

>firefox
>windows 7
just end yourself you fucking pleb

And VLC volume goes to 200% so that's still 100 steps.

>most people leave their TV volumes on an even number.

Really?

Most people are actually this autistic and retarded?

I only leave it on a prime number.

I have my SmartTV linked to my FitBit, that detects every time I get an erection, and sends a signal to my SmartTV using ITTT to lower the volume, because the chances are I'm watching porn.

It's dolby's fault, not microsoft
