What do you call this piece of technology, Sup Forums?

that's a wifi cable you gen z fuck.

Copper multi-filament interconnection device

Obsolete. I mean, like, we have, like, 5G and, like, WiFi,everywhere, right?

CAT

A wifi plug-n-play

A noose. Suggest you give it a shot.

It's the Cable App.

CAT5E

CAT5 cable or just ethernet cable

It is an internet cable. For the Internet.

Cloud Connector Cable

cuck strip

Facebook Cord

Catagory Five Enhanced

Skrętka.

LAN party cable

Internet cable

alienware brand gamelink cable

The Dot Com cable.

Only correct answer

internet rope

ooga booga gimme dat internet

ethernet cable or cat cable (and variants) are the only acceptable answers

kek'd

Why would anyone use this shit? Wifi is wireless and can be used across rooms witout being tied to a cable. People who use these cables are fucking morons.

I assume this is bait, but that's how the tour guides always acted when I asked if a uni's dorms had ethernet connections. Like shit, what's so wrong with wanting fast internet?

Wifi is fast if you actually use a newer router.

Patch cord.
Probably cat 5e because it doesnt have a gnd shield so it wouldnt be cat6

I audibly laughed.

Sure, but never as fast as a wired connection on the same network (under normal circumstances)

CAT 5E Patch Cable

unwound capable netbelt

>Patch

pls no

>someone torrents on wifi connection
>wired connection is slowed down and lags
Applies to wifi facebook patch meme cable as well.

RJ45 cat 5(E)

If you take a closer look at the image you would know its a RJ45 CAT 5E.

Tintenetthingywingy

>everyone is just like me and only uses their computers for browsing dumb web sites

cat 5 cable

They both do the same exact same shit.

only real answer

I know these posts are probably bait, but it's depressing to think that there are people who actually think like this.

Ethernet wire, desu. Don't know how else to call it.

I'm going to just assume you've never been in network/systems administration and you're just here for the flamewars and consumer tech.

kek

Skrętka.

I find it depressing people need a cord to use the internet.
>connecting personal laptop
>network/systems administration
Boy you sure got me there bud.

>RJ45

But that's wrong.

This

>RJ45 (computers), an unkeyed 8-position, 8-contact modular plug (incorrectly referred to as RJ45) used primarily on patch cables for Ethernet and other computing and telecommunications interconnections.

You asked why anyone would use it, as if it is obsolete.

Unshielded twisted pair cable with factory-installed RJ45 connectors.

Patch cable or patch cord are legit terms used to distinguish a length of UTP cable as a permanent link or a channel.

I'll be more specific next time.

>Why would anyone use this shit? Wifi is wireless

Geeeee I don't know....maybe to connect the WiFi router to the internet modem???

>incorrectly

No fucking shit. I meant using the wifi cord to laptop to a wifi box when it already has fucking wifi!!!???

Shit.

Ethernet is massively superior to Wifi. It's far faster and much more reliable.
You can't move shit around as easily, but most computers stay in the same place, so that's not a problem.

Do we need to make one of these for ethernet cable now?

How faster? Do you have Internet speeds above 300 Mbits where you will benefit for faster speeds?

>I meant

But OP never stated what it was for.

You just dismissed it outright because you have never worked with computers and frankly don't belong on Sup Forums

>Do you have Internet speeds above 300 Mbits
Actually, yes I do. I don't live in the third world country like you do.
Even then, having faster Ethernet speeds helps with file transfers and whatnot within your own network.

no thumb stick?

also
>austism

intranet cable

Not him, but it is usually faster when using a NAS for example.

This might shock you but some people here actually make backups - the nerds, lol, am I right?

I have 150Mbps service from Comcast, and even holding a device right next to the WAP I usually get 20-30Mbps less than what I do on my PC that is wired.

No idea, but if it comes with an app I'm sold.

noose

And before you ask, yes both the WAP and the device are 802.11ac compatible.

It's a ASUS™ Super Gigabit White Falcon Gamer Edition Cable.®

the fuck is that? insulation?

But it doesn't have gold plated connectors.
WHY DOESN'T IT HAVE GOLD PLATED CONNECTORS??????

Hell it doesn't even have cooling fins.

thicc

>But OP never stated what it was for.
I know OP never stated that. I only dismmissed it for connecting a desktop to wifi box
Good for you. wifi cable is actually to use for you.
All depends on wifi box, not all are made equal.
I don't have this issue with my router that actually matches the wired speeds. router might be older model.

zip disk

>CAT 5E
Antiquated.

blue hose

I deal with enterprise wireless and wired networking hardware professionally. Wireless is never as fast as wired. It can come close, sometimes, but it is never as fast.

Yeah, if you live in a city you can pretty much forget about getting decent speeds over 2.4Ghz

You should be able to get enough over 5Ghz though, but then range could become too limiting.

Thats an audiophile music transporter

I am talking about personal. Ofaorse there would be differences with the enterprise setting.

>the fuck is that? insulation?

Doesn't matter.

Selling to audiophiles is ironically all about looks.

I get 130-140 over wireless, and I actually get close to 175 with a wired connection even though I only pay for 150. I actually looked at 2.4GHz interference and for some reason it's pretty much all channel 1 or channel 11, so I set mine to channel 6 and I get decent 2.4GHz speeds as well.

>he thinks I'm talking about the security

I'm talking about Cisco WAPs, not that shit that came in your junk Linksys you bought six years ago.

HAHAHA MILLENNIALS.
When WPA2 GETS HACKED or jammed, THEN WHAT>

>its a several intro classes with 900 students each are given an online test and it severely slows down the network for everyone episode

>All depends on wifi box, not all are made equal.

You will be very lucky to get a gigabit over wifi even if your "box" is capable.
There is usually shitloads of interference.

Face it: Ethernet is still very useful - I'm sorry your Mac doesn't have an Ethernet port.

>he thinks I'm talking about the security
I was talking about the environment setting.
Yes but you are still latched to a wifi box with limited mobility

>jump drive

>>CAT 5E
>Antiquated.

If it?

Or is Cat6 just a meme with no real world benefit except on extremely long cables?

I call Lexar drives jump drives. Everything else is flash drive.

>using wireless
>turn the microwave on and I lose my internet connection
>takes a full two minutes for the computer to connect at boot
>random ping spikes and a lot of packet loss

>using ethernet cables
>almost instant connection on boost
>I can microwave my hot pockets while watching youtube
>no packet loss or ping spikes

I can undock at any time.

Which also disconnects my 27 inch screen and my mechanical keyboard, so I only do so when I have to.

It's called a USB I'll show you later.

THIS IS ONE OF THE PIPES THAT MAKE UP THE INTERNET
