Upgrading Ubuntu

Wish me luck, boys.

Upgrading to Ubuntu 17.04.

>not installing fedora

Sorry I'm not a Poettering/Freedesktop/Gnome faggot like you.

>Not clean installing
>Not Ubuntu Gnome

You're basically screwed

>xfce
good taste, OP

No I use fedora because I'm paying to become a Redhat tester

Shit, what do I pick?

And thar she goes!!!!!

Is that xfce?

Yup :)

And now I can't even make screenshots because GTK is starting to fall apart during the upgrade :O

what are you upgrading from?

Noooooo just use LTS

From 16.10

But I'm already not on an LTS.

Hello sir!

I was just wondering on the theme and icon set you're using!

Thank-you in advance!

fuck off pajeet

Arc for GTK theme
Papirus for icons
Ubuntu for font

Thank-you friend!!

Wow it all went better than expected.

>and he was never heard from again

Just finished upgrading.

I can feel how even faster it is already.

Thank you based Ubuntu.

+1 respect Op, to hell with faggotry xfce all the way

>this is how xfce looks
well I guess I should switch now since unity is dying. Looks good.

Its how xubuntu looks.

They add a few tweaks

Oh nice. Well I guess ill grab xubuntu 17.04 now.

Did you have to reboot?

Well duh, yes of course. You've just overwritten all the system libraries and binaries.

Is the side panel an extension?

Has this ever worked for anyone?

I've been through two dist-upgrades with Ubuntu and it's always fucked something up, leaving me unable to log in or something.

Both times, I had to end up reinstalling on the root partiton.

It's Plank, a re-write of the old Docky from C# to Vala.

OP here, this box has been upgraded without issues from Ubuntu 9.10 to now 17.04.

That's what I assumed. I switched from Xubuntu to Ubuntu MATE a little while back and that is one of the panel layout choices.

>switching your whole distro just to switch DE
>sudo apt install mate-desktop

You can configure a DE without reinstalling

Is that really the same thing, though? Probably meant for /sqt/. But besides, I chose to a do a clean install of the new version at the time.

this isn't windows, user, you don't have to reinstall the entire OS

It just doesn't feel right. Seems impure.

no, it isn't, you get to keep all your settings, your other software isn't that dependant on what DE you're using, so no need to reinstall all your things.

windows is the impurity you need to purge
FUCKING HURRY UP AMD I WANT MY RAVEN RIDGE APUS HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO PUT TOGETHER MY CUTE ANIME LINUX ITX BUILD

if it does, just uninstall the previous DE after you installed the new one

bet it makes you restart
