Who else fell for the 4k meme?

Who else fell for the 4k meme?

>4k dvds expensive as fuck
>no 4k tv channels
>Netflix charges extra for 4k
>Most films are just "remastered" for 4k, which basically just means they make everything grainy, and fuck with the colors to make them "pop" (use a vibrant photoshop filter)
>The films that are native 4k are mostly just shitty capeshit flicks
>1080p content looks like shit on it
>Side by side, you can barely even notice the difference between a 4k display and a 1080p display. Its nowhere near the difference between 720p and 1080p.

Why did you fucks push this meme so hard? Now I'm stuck with a overpriced piece of shit I don't even want.

I don't watch a lot of TV, but if you are into photography it helps to have a 4K monitor. Also if you have a good enough computer, games definitely benefit from 4K. Plenty of Youtubers are starting to upload in resolutions above 1080 as well

>using footage from a movie shot in the 80s as an example of 4k

4k is a meme unless you work in specific fields like said. Even 4k gayman is pointless, you're getting almost nothing over 1080p for such a huge cost.

>photography
>games
>youtubers

So no one over 18 benefits from 4k?

What about people who watch movies made in this decade? The fact anyone pays for an 80s movie remastered into 4k is disgsuting if the source is not at least 4k it can never truely be 4k

Depending on how the movie was shot and mastered, older movies that used film are much better for remastering in 4k than any of the early digital stuff. Film in general is better for mastering for 4k and even 8k, hell even Imax 70mm can do an equivalent digital resolution of 16k

Remasters like that are bad. Has nothing to do with the resolution. It's the change of the colors to modern pallets of hues of blue and yellow. Another eye rape example is Jurassic Park's remaster.

4k by itself is worthless for most TVs. It may be different if you're in the 3rd world like Europe and sit close to a smaller TV. In American with 50"+ TV and sitting 6ft+ away this little point in 4k. If you have a good 4k set like from Sony the scaling is unnoticeable from 1080p to 4k though. Korean garbage it's noticeable.
See the TNG remaster for an example of how to do a remaster. Well worth buying it.

you're right about youtube, and for games id say the falloff is closer to 30, but you're still correct.
For photography though, you are definitely incorrect.
Another use for a large 4K monitor would be for having many windows open at once, instead of needing multiple 1080 monitors. This is very useful in programming, for example. Also jacking off.

>buy 4K TV or monitor (only slightly more expensive than 1080p)
>pirate 4K bluray rips

pretty good deal

I just got a new TV, which will last me 10+ years hopefully
Obviously bought a 4K TV, because prices are not that high. And I'm not going to try and save $100 by getting a 1080p TV in 2017

People are using yt 4k for the higher bitrate.
1080p is more than enough, but youtube has shit encoding settings

To be fair, Jurassic Park was filmed with way too much exposure. I don't know if that was some retarded artistic choice by (((speilberg))) or what.

>To be fair, Jurassic Park was filmed with way too much exposure
In what way?

>3rd world like Europe
Some salty under developed tard from some shithole posted this due to envy of EU are the worst bait posters because you can almost smell the feces in his posts.

>America
>under developed
K

I wasn't talking about the tech that they got from EU or from all the other non-americans that invented it.
I was talking about you, the people, the braindead fat-ass retards.

>EU
>Tech inventions
Enjoy that 50hz PAL trash

The youtube platform isn't even ready for 4k, it simply skims video to 1440p or some shit and only if the youtube gods deem you worthy. The only actual difference is bitrate cap.

My bet is they realized 4k for consumer use is a fad and will probably just skip needless platform adaptations.

I expected nothing less from a person that is 20+ years behind the rest of the world.
Have you heard about the new Sega Saturn? Yeah it's already been released.

Pretty great at 60hz.

The only EU country that invented anything I use in my home is Germany.

The rest of the continent is fucking brain dead.

Based on your interests I bet you smell like cat piss

So you don't have seatbelts in your car, or an engine, a fridge in your house, RGB colors from your GPU, or the fact that you're even using a computer, you obviously don't use a TFT monitor since that's not American made, or the CRT either since that's also not American.
Have you ever stopped to realize how retarded you are? You should before you hurt the remaining damaged "brain" cells you have.

You wouldn't have a car to put seatbelts in, electricity to run your fridge, monitor, or computer without murrica.

>You wouldn't have a car to put seatbelts in, or cooling your food in a fridge, watching th monitor, or computer without Germany, Belgium and Sweden.

Fixed

Oh and here's something for you to read.

>Electricity is a form of energy and it occurs in nature, so it was not “invented.” As to who discovered it, many misconceptions abound. Some give credit to Benjamin Franklin for discovering electricity, but his experiments only helped establish the connection between lightning and electricity, nothing more
>nothing more

America is basically the reason you can even buy a car, mass production was invented here.

You can rattle off some arbitrary shit if you want but pretty much everything you use was invented in the US.

>mass production was invented here
I hope you limit that "invention" to the car, because Christopher Polhem wasn't American.

This is the exact same thing that people were parroting when HDTVs first came out.

Give it 10 years, and everything will be 4k, with 8k being the new meme resolution.

how can people be proud of their country thats only like 3 generations old LMAO.

Photography is a hilariously expensive and autistic pursuit for older people with disposable incomes. Have you even seen the prices on ONE decent lens? Or how much autism goes into post-processing? There's a reason /p/ is all older anons.

>America is basically the reason you can even buy a car, mass production was invented here.

By immigrated europeans.

not even kidding - look up the Ford T-Model, it was designed by two hungarians.

Linus Torvalds wasn't born in America but Linux is still American.

:3

1440p and 2160p are great because they can properly upscale older resolution content. 1920x1080 is a garbage resolution that breaks compatibility with everything.

No offense but a lot of people that wanted to change/lead the world became Americans to do it.

You can't repatriate their achievements to their country of origin...

meh I wait for technology to mature before I buy. I've only had 1080p for 4 years now

>1080p content looks like shit on it
Strange to make that comment because the scaling is perfect as both as the same aspect ratio.

>Most films are just "remastered" for 4k, which basically just means they make everything grainy, and fuck with the colors to make them "pop" (use a vibrant photoshop filter)

You know the reason they are even able to "remaster" them is because those movies were filmed on physical film.
How grainy shit looks largely depends on the quality of the film stock they used and how it has held its age

youtube.com/watch?v=kIf9h2Gkm_U

youtube.com/watch?v=55SWtb1Hm7w

what bugs me the most right now in todays filming they use everything from 2K to 8K, for various scenes yet when it comes out on UHD / Bluray its all marketed as "4K" when its really not.

I've got a 4K monitor and its been great,
When people ask me about 4K TVs I tell them don't bother getting a new TV just for 4K, but if their tv is broken and they need a replacement then yes get 4K

>Why did you fucks push this meme so hard?
Probably gayming

>Now I'm stuck with a overpriced piece of shit
Think of yourself as future proof somehow

>I don't even want.
Send it over, shipping on you

As long as there's 4k porn it's worth it.

So many see through blouses and nipple slips.

I love HD remastered old films.

I'm waiting for the whole chain to support HDR and DCI-P3 before upgrading my TV.

Dual 4k monitors for programming is GOAT.

No, you must be blind and somewhat immature if that's your thoughts.

Hope you actually checked to see if it's actually supporting Chroma 4:4:4

>1440p can render up to 1600*1200
But 1600p can render 2048*1536 which I used back in 2002 and onward.

Thanks for using a trip.
I've read your posts vaguely in this thread and you're so insecure it hurts just thinking how depressing it must be being you.

>1080p content looks like shit on it
BUUUUUUUUUUUULSHIT

This x1000

That explain a lot of things....
You shouldn't be proud of your braindead consumerist shithole

There is 4k porn. But you have to pay for it. Unless torrents.

You must be 18 to post here
It's time for you to go back to red dit or whatever containment board you leaked out of

my 4k Netflix looks great
it depends on how they shot the film and with what camera
you can tell the difference during out door scenes on high budget shows
it's also more noticable at higher frame rates so turn on that gay smoothing shit your tv probably has

I know but they are cringe like BLACKED. I want more amateur

Tushy and Tiny4k are less cringy.

>amateur porn
Mah nigga, Also, wait to the advent of 4k cameras to cellphones.
import life

print life.ItHurtsToLive

>4k cameras to cellphones

That's already on tons of cellphones. Even 2 year old iphones can do that, so you know every mildly attractive camwhore has already been gifted a device capable of it. Now the demand just needs to catch up.

The difference between 720p and 1080p aren't that noticeable imo. The old 480i broadcasts and 1080p for sure have a big difference. Picture quality on 4k is slightly better than 1080p in my experience. Currently it's like the 3D meme so it's perfectly fine to wait this out until you're ready for an upgrade.

4k/2k/1440p whatever is great for gaming. Downscaling has replaced AA as the way to go. I have a fury card that I use to run games in 1440p or higher which then downscales to my monitors native resolution. I'm gaming in 1080p still though.

I'm not interested in photography, I was just thinking of reasons people would benefit from a 4K monitor, and that seemed like an easy one.

Bottom one is just some filters added in Photoshop or Premiere or whatever they use. This has nothing to do with resolution.

>I have the reading comprehension of a 12 year old the post

4K bluray rips don't exist so there's that

You don't have to go full gear autist. Older DSLRs are cheap as fuck now, I got my Pentax K-7 and a few vintage lenses for barely $300.

Why does your image use screenshots that came from some weird Yify tier quality encode? The blu ray version looks nothing like that.

The good thing about 4kBD is 10bit H.265 support. 8bit H.264 without heavily grain is a banding festa compared to it.

>Most films are just "remastered" for 4k, which basically just means they make everything grainy,
No, most films are still filmed on film, which has no resolution and is inherently grainy, with mechanical shutter cameras that make the picture slightly blurry (a necessity to make 24 fps watchable). That's why there are severe diminishing returns with 4k.
Making a movie (even digitally) is totally different than recording a video with your cell phone camera.

>1080p content looks like shit on it
>Side by side, you can barely even notice
Really activating my almonds

>Even 4k gayman is pointless, you're getting almost nothing over 1080p

I tried a few 1440p/144Hz monitors last year and came away unimpressed, but the one 4K one I tried, which was just some shitty TN panel, was pretty fantastic desu. Even playing an old game like Mass Effect 3 on it was somewhat mindblowing, coming from a 1080p IPS screen.

Couldn't keep it though, as the viewing angles bothered me too much. Even at 27" there was some yellowing towards the edges of my vision on white backgrounds from a neutral sitting position.

>I'll compare a continent to a country!
lol

Gimme color depth fuck god, not pixels I can't even see!

>using image to compare 4k in 1280x720
Nice meme retard
4k was worth every penny
Got two 27 inch freesync ips panels for 399 Canadian each

Take a few friends and do a blind test between 720p and 1080p at optimal viewing distance. They won't be able to tell the difference.

Maybe if they're legally blind

Why gives a shit about TV. 4K isn't for plebs like you

Get off Sup Forums and don't ever post here again

The actual resolution is quite a meme because at regular viewing distances you can't resolve the extra detail.
However OLED and HDR are the real deal, infinite contrast ratio, instant pixel response, and increased colour depth make massive difference to the viewing experience.
