Best programming language and why

Meme free edition.

Meme free?

JavaScript because it's 2017 gosh darn it

Crystal
It's like Ruby - the best scripting language - minus without all the dynamic garbage plus a bunch of metaprogramming facilities.

Klossy?

That's a good reason to lift.

Rust

How do I join Klossy's Koding Kamp?

Shieeeet, I lift for Klossy, too.

Funfact: "klossmajor" is synonymous with idiot in Scandinavia

D's already pretty great

I love her.

How long does it take to learn a language if you have no prior experience, Realistically.

was the search tough?

from the more superior to the less, everything non metioned is meme tier not worth learning.

Coq
Idris
Haskell
Rust
Heavy template use abstract C++ programming.

I want to spit and cum on her face

Man Ruby is truly shit. Whats the point of Swift anyway, if it cannot even outperform a VM language like Java and consumes only a little bit less memory? Why not just code Java? The Java ecosystem is far superior. I thought Swift was supposed to trade blows with C and Rust, but apparently not. Seems completely useless then.

The point of Swift is to tie developers and apps tightly to IOS and make it hard to port them to other platforms

Found the NEET.

If you want Job, learn PHP, Java or Javascript

>I thought Swift was supposed to trade blows with C and Rust, but apparently not. Seems completely useless then.
But it does you fucking moron.

Sure doesnt look like it from that pic somebody posted, you fucking rude man

Ada
its fast, reliable, secure, and can do basically anything c and c++ can and often better

this type of people enjoy putting stuff in ass
pencils
markers
sticks
toothbrushes
dildos

Scala
Haskell

I only put something up my ass once (a toothbrush) and it was because of a bet

C#

Found the theorist. What do you think of scala?

Tcl is a great little language that gets almost no publicity. Glad to see it mentioned in here

I'm just an old fag,
it was unironically part of my curriculum.

Maybe great, but still unusable because no IDE, or large project using it

Please use Rust.

#!/bin/bash

this is the real shit

doggy bag

But why use it?

I use it because it does what I need it to do, and because I like it. Why would I not use it?

SML is very powerful

Unironically this

labview

program in 2d

Claim your a female (male) and get accepted

Combination of Rust and D

There you go.

I just stick together Turing machines tbqo

DON'T YOU TALK SHIT ABOUT MY KLOSSY

>someday this pic will replace the Stallman pic in sticky
just imagine that

Why use it over another scripting language?

What a fag

C/C++ + inline ASM
fast and powerful

>very small scripts
/bin/sh
>lowlevel
C
>anything else
OCaml

too bad it throws portability out the window unless you want to check for a million different macros

Go is because it's as easy to understand as python but beats the shit out of it in performance.

Since Go and C can interoperate, there is no reason not to use Go.

Java and C++ codebases are always a huge mess.

>portability
all I ever program is specific niche applications.

That doesn't make sense. C++ should have 0 overhead over C unless you're comparing apples to oranges in terms of program structure.

Question here:

What is the simplest yet most versatile programming language one can learn? I need something to devote my time to. I am talking about the Mosin Nagant of programming languages here. Reliability and simplicity.

C, I suppose

That and it doesn't even list what the program or programs are, which could wildly affect the benchmark. Intel Fortran should be faster than GCC C for just about everything that involves doing math. Using Fortran outside of math is fucking retarded and is the reason modern fortran is basically just single subroutines called by C.

Swift is open source and already ported to most systems

Python. No meme.

Who /C/ and /Haskell/ here?

C++ written in C is pointless.

google the benchmark game

>There's a Lisp for that

Isn't that meme illegal?

C security is almost as much of a meme as Java security.

IDE's are only needed by people who don't know how to refactor.

>Elm
Isn't that the one that can't do basic arithmetic without network access?

That doesn't mean it has any serious usage on non-Apple platforms. It's literally known as "that Apple language", there really isn't any point to using it unless it can demonstrate clear advantages over the languages already in use on those platforms.

Should be a rule that you have to have
>*According to user submitted programs
On every post that has that.

Best academia languages vs best industry languages?

that chart is so bad, let me spruce it up with ggplot, toss me the data user

R

>C++ written in C is pointless.
The advantages of C++ over C are generally not in the area of performance.

Go
> inb4 generics

Rust
> inb4 higher-kinded type

exactly, so writing C++ means slower code execution if you actually want to use C++ features
