Are Sysinternals tools still credible since they have been owned by Microsoft in 2006? Also, Russinovich is CTO of MS Azure, so isn't he to be regarded as a major enabler of "the cloud thing"?

Do they still work? Yes, they are kept updated as well.

I mean if you can still trust them as you could before Microsoft acquired Winternals/Sysinternals. I'm sure after Russinovich became a Microsoft person, they said "hey, we don't want this particular functionality to be provided anymore" or "here, you need to make changes to these tools so they dont' show this and this anymore". While being independent, the tools were way more likely to objectively show what's going on under the hood in certain parts of the OS even if MS themselves wouldn't like that - after the acquisition, obvioiusly not so much.
