Going to 3way call you with my co SYS, and call you mean names

>tfw BBS will make a massive comeback as people become more and more aware of the botnet that is modern web

No browsers, no tracking, no scripts. Lightweight enough to run a server for hundreds of thousands of concurrent users on a $5 dollar SBC. Simple command line interface. Cutting edge ASCII graphics.

It's the way the internet was meant to be.

tfw FF vs chrome threads will be replaced with hypermodem vs. putty in your lifetime.

is this the end of HTTP?

No normal person would want to gimp themselves to live out your nostalgic fantasies of a time before you were born.

good god I hope so. HTTP needs a replacement

Normies have no choice but to take that which they are given.

Firefox abbreviates to Fx, not FF.

And nobody's going to give them a shitty BBS.

With ubuntu on all windows PC's Putty is dead.

I miss ripterm graphics

>yfw you can just develop your own BBS-like interface for imageboards and relive some of the glory

How so, given that you need a dedicated program to connect to a serial device via ttyS too? You really think that all that putty is used for is connecting to a Linux system from Windows? How is there no putty for Linux too?

: "hurr, imageboards are dead"
>GitS style face-to-face discussion around an virtual table
I'm conflicted.

>wanting the botnet to know youre face

>How is there no putty for Linux too?
Because PuTTY is a SSH client. It adds basic functionality to Windows that is already included in Linux' terminal environment. There's no need for a GUI like PuTTY on Linux. Same reason there's no "WAMP" or "MAMP" like software for Linux.

That's why I'm conflicted. Although I'm pretty sure there are some anons in those discussions. It's been a while.

Any good english speaking live bbs'?

>Because PuTTY is a SSH client

No lol. It's a terminal emulator with extended capabilities, an ssh client is just part of its functionality. It can connect to ssh, telnet, rlogin, or even just serial.

>There's no need for a GUI like PuTTY on Linux.
>putty for Linux doesn't exist

Now shut up, m8.

>he was proven wrong
>"oh, shut up m8"

Well there's einchan but it's sort of dead.
einchan at einchan dot god dot jp pw is ein

I've heard Ami express can run over telnet, so we should set something up then

Could have some cool forums and chatties over telnet

What was generally used BBS software back in the day, and what were the operating systems they usually ran on? Also, what hardware was needed?

Ripterm 2000 was my bbs client back in the day, but I never experienced ripterm graphics.
