Sure, i'll stay with virus ridden, update forcing, nsa back-doored, slow, exploitable, horrible, windows, instead of going with linux, because of GAMES, also >Linux has zero integration on the desktop shit tier argument, see i.imgur.com/HWsCS.jpg >Linux has no professional software If by professional you mean stuff like after effects, it only takes a short google search to find a linux alternative >No driver support Intel, amd and nivida actually actively produce drivers for linux >Linux has no games Nope, see steamdb.info/linux/ >Linux is a meme used to make you look "more intelligent", but you end up being "more retard" using a server OS as a desktop alternative. Really?
Parker Gonzalez
It's a tool I often find useful, and takes literally two minutes to install itself to SSD. There's no need to waste time putting Windows on anything but my desktop.
Andrew Jones
Just build a separate PC for the interactive jew if you can't live without it and you are too "mustard" to go with the desire console option.

>no professional software
Almost every scientific organization uses Linux, and virtually every IT department does.
Brandon Wood
The only reason to be butthurt about that nonsense is because it can drag some people back to Windows. > server OS as a desktop alternative The only server thing here is the kernel. Servers don't have a graphical environment. Same with Windows, the kernel is the same in both server and desktop OS.
Elijah Sullivan
>A Master Race actually offers benefits over any other system. Racits.
Jace Roberts
Is that because it crashes so you have to reinstall it every time it updates?
Jackson Jones
>Linux has zero integration on the desktop Well yeah linux is just a kernel everything else isn't >Linux has no professional software
Video editing and animation: Blender 3D(animation) Opensubmerve (that shit pixar made) Davinci 14(professional video editor) Lightworks(professional video editor) Pitivi, kdenlive, openshot, ...(opensource video creators)
Sound editing(which i do not know much about): Ardour(sound editing) Audacity(opensauce sound editing)
Image editing(i also do not know much about): Gimp with addons(FFS use the addons and then compare it to photoshop) Darktable(image editing)
Streaming: VLC(which was made for that) OBS(that shit everyone uses)
>Linux has no driver support Any controller, any sound card ,any video card, any motherboard, any Cpu and any peripherals can be removed and added immediately and it will just work. The OS itself will only compain if you have a really old kernel. (Kernel 4.11 already has vega drivers) >Linux has no games 1/4 of steam games are linux supported That is about 3000+ games > inb4 all are shitty indies Indies are better than AAA period. While small indie dev teams make good games, AAA devs make high production broken trash with shit optimisation and bugs everywhere. AAA acoirding to economists is unsubstainable and a "AA" model is prefered. Also microsoft themselves gimp the fuck out openGL on windows which is a shitty unfair practice and which explains why openGL windows games run better on wine. Shitty reasons like these are the points console gamers make >... ......?

Actually CSGO runs better on linux if you have an nvidia card, but from the most notable multiplayer games only the valve ones are ported to linux like csgo and dota2.
Matthew Roberts
Only the shitty ITs use Windows
Sebastian Flores
>Indies are better than AAA period. yeah because they're on linux and AAA games aren't just like gimp is better than photoshop because it works under linux
>Any controller, any sound card ,any video card, any motherboard, any Cpu and any peripherals can be removed and added immediately and it will just work. the sound card on my t61 didn't work on debian at all when i installed windows 7 EVERYTHING was working without installing any drivers except for the fingerprint scanner which of course doesn't work on linux at all
Kevin Morgan
Windows is NOT the Master Race.
A Master Race actually offers benefits over any other system.
Windows only offers problems over any other OS like Windows or Mac.
>Windows has zero integration on the desktop >Windows has no professional software >Windows has no driver support >Windows has no games >...
Windows is a meme used to make you look "more intelligent", but you end up being "more retard" using a server OS as a desktop alternative.
Stay with the REAL Master Race of desktop operating system, stay with Linux.
Dylan Brooks
Yes it does, in Linux you get dev software like valgrind and shells more easily. In Linux you don't have to trust a single company with the source code. And there is somewhat better ricing and WM options. But Windows is very good too, it has it's own benefits. True master race uses anything and everything they personally find value for. Virtual machines is a feasible option in 2017 and there is always dual booting and using different computers (like Linux laptop and Windows desktop).

>yeah because they're on linux and AAA games aren't I never said x is better than y because it runs on linux I wrote down why indies are better LEARN TO READ >just like gimp is better than photoshop because it works under linux
When did i say that x is better because it runs on linux?
I SAID GIMP SHOULD BE USED WITH ADD-ONS AND THEN COMPARED TO PHOTOSHOP
>the sound card on my t61 didn't work on debian at all >when i installed windows 7 EVERYTHING was working without installing any drivers except for the fingerprint scanner which of course doesn't work on linux at all
Just like i said the only reason something might not work is because of an old kernel.
DEBIAN IS AN ADVANCED DISTRIBUTION WITH AN OLD KERNEL IN ORDER TO BE STABLE AND DOES NOT COME WITH ANY SOFTWARE BECAUSE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO SET UP THE DESKTOP YOURSELF
Also thinkpads have perfect linux support stop lying .
Cameron Hill
I think they're both good OSes for different kinds if people.
If your windows PC is filled with viruses, you're a retard who needs to stay off Ukranian snuff porn sites. Game Library? Wine. Imperfect, but it works. Software? Again wine, but yeah some tools work on windows only. No reason you couldn't just dual boot. Linux is free after all, so you only need to buy one. That also circumvents a lot of these issues.
The auto-updates do piss me off though, there's just no way around that. I hate that Microsoft thinksbit knows how to run my computer. Fuck off, ill update if I feel like it, quit watching me and just let me use a less tedious OS than fucking linux.
Christopher Clark
>Using a DE
You fuck'n casual

Aren't all those games on steam steamOS only and can't run on other distros, or maybe i am mistaken
Blake King
SteamOS is linux based, and from what little i know of linux applications run cross-distro.:
Blake Roberts
I'm amazed so many were baited. Here's your you, but your own image makes mention of the thousands of games on Linux, in contradiction to your own post. It should be obvious.
Jaxson Jones
Neither does Windows 10
Jose Martinez
No they dont, its a super big hassle to compile even open sorce emulators which are not supported on your distro, look dolphin, its only made for Ubuntu and to use it on other distro you have to like get repo, dependencies and other a lot of stuffto compile just that, and games on steam are NOT open source so i doubt they will run on oses except steamOS
Lucas Miller
>Linux has no games This is an advantage. Look at their shitposting on Sup Forums, their consumer threads about Ryzen, GPUs and so forth. I don't want these retards in the Linux community.
Austin Ward
Steam OS is basicly debian running steam in big picture mode. Of course they are supported everywhere
Justin Murphy
Yes, the games do run on other OSes. I have an arch box that can easily handle everything that can run on the shitty chromebook I have. And I mean games in my steam library, not some opensource emulators, like the persons before were talking about.
If you want it even easier, steamOS is based on debian, so if you run any modern ubuntu release most of the games should work fine out of the box.
Compilation's also easy, literally just fill in the dependencies and that's it. And that's a nonproblem since the games are provided as binary executables instead of source. Just make sure to have a 64-bit os since many programs have started to drop support for 32-bit.
Charles Jones
Oh nice, than linux still has more games than ps4, anyway all the good games are old anyway and easily emulatable even on linux
Justin Moore
>Literal fantasy the post. Stay mad, Little Billy.
Liam Collins
Steam os though is kind of a pain to install(especially if you use nvidia and want good performance).
If i were you i'd test linux mint or some ubuntu distro and then install the proprietary drivers.
Liam Lopez
Dwarf Fortress is THE MOST COMPLEX GAME in regards of gameplay and mechanics, if you're too retarded to use your own imagination to spice up the ASCII (or even create/download your own tileset), then that is your fault for allowing film and the AAA game industry to destroy your imagination with shitty CGI.
Justin Anderson
Uhh last I checked windows server couldn't run headless. Always made windows server a bit of a joke to me.
Have things changed?

older games tend to run better under linux wine than under native windows. WIndows is bloated because of legacy shit and yet you can't even use that legacy shit to run old games properly

>Linux only offers problems over any other OS like Windows or Mac. Such as?
>>Linux has zero integration on the desktop In regards to what? It runs on almost any hardware. >>Linux has no professional software Wrong. Lots of Autodesk software runs natively on it. >>Linux has no driver support Wrong again. It runs on almost anything. >>Linux has no games I can play 99% of Windows games using PlayOnLinux.
>Linux is a meme used to make you look "more intelligent", but you end up being "more retard" using a server OS as a desktop alternative. I use it because it just works, it doesn't need to reboot every two hours, it doesn't get cryptolocker malware, and it doesn't have built in spyware for "diagnostics purposes".

Flame and Eagle also run on Linux. Everything else that is native to Windows can be used in WINE.

So what? I'm willing to do a little goal post shifting since the programs are still running on Linux with WINE.
Asher Thomas
