Has the draft ever been accepted in other countries? Here in the US the Korean War was the only major draft that didn't receive major backlash. The other wars where most enlisted men were draftees, WWI and Vietnam, were unquestionably opposed. In WWI entire towns would rally behind draft dodgers and protect them, while during Vietnam draft dodgers were scrutinized.

First you get a bit over 5€ a day, then around 8€ if you've been there longer than 6 months and if you're longer than 9 month's it's ~12€ a day. You also get to go wherever you want every evening, I got free time from 16:00 to 21:30 (just don't let them find out you're drunk unless you're in the marines). There should be no social favors but when you're applying for a job it doesn't hurt to have military experience.
