Switching to GNU/Linux

Hello g,

I am a hardcore Windows 10 user and thought to myself: Maybe other OS are good too.

So I looked a little and found out that ubuntu is a good start if this is your first GNU/Linux OS installation ever.

So I downloaded the latest version 17.04.
Installed it via USB
(was pretty easy so far)

From then on I fired up google and searched about how to install my favorit programms.
The process is pretty easy.
Most of the time you just have to open a terminal and type "sudo apt isntall " and hit enter

>My question now is:
What useful tools do you recommend me checking out?

Someone make a general already

Synaptic, makes deinstalling/installing programs and maintaining packackes/resources much easier from GUI

Y-ppa manager, mainly for fixing gpg_no_pobkey errors and some other advanced functions from GUI

>What useful tools do you recommend me checking out?
valgrind, awesome to check your code for memleaks.

OP here

Before you do anything else, install all the drivers

Then you can start disabling botnet with something like WIN10Privacy.exe

...

Is that botnet official? Sorry I am not into this /g botnet meme.

check our appimages, for easily installing portable programs basically like in OSX, just download and doubleclicking.

windows 10 is actually a privacy nightmare. for once its not a meme.

Guys, OP here
Is there some kind of image-based backup solution for GNU/Linux?

Except the NSA is by far the most corrupt organization and misuse the power to make personal profit. Maybe the CIA comes close though. Also, "loveint" is a problem too.

TL;DR: Microsoft is full of pedos.

Like FSArchiver or Systemback? Don't worry with rsync if you get that recommended, it may work but for gnu wizards

image-based?You mean GUI backup solution?

Get a server,

Use nextcloud and a raid 1 array for the server.

ezpz solved

He mean shit like Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost

Found something I love using on Windows 10.
It also has a linux client since a few weeks.
It's snapshot based

>Veeam
It's proprietary though, but free for personal use

I do have ownCloud Server

Anybody know a tool that would allow me to take data out of an excel spreadsheet and map it onto a pre-scanned pdf document to be printed?

sadly no

Here's the Veeam Backup application I was talking about
>pic related

I know of plotters, meant to create graphics to insert in pdfs, like PLplot or gnuplot.
