how the h*ck do you guys use dark themes for programming?
my eyes are strained
use a bigger font
use a better font
do actual programming
>sublime meme
sublime uses consolas lad
nothing wrong with a nice dark theme
How do you program while looking at a supernova?
>assert data != null
What do you think about Kotlin or Scala, user?
they're pretty nice.
that reddish orange pops out too much
how the hell is a dark background more eye straining than a white one?
Don't be alarmed dubdubs, it's usually a matter of not only font (and size), but of lighting.
I work in a very well lit environment and I switched to light background (spacemacs-light theme) and it has been easier on my eyes.
If you write in dim lighting try a pastel scheme, and if in relative dark, then a dark scheme.
You could even switch between them depending on the amount of ambient light.
There's no one size fits all in this case, but AFAIK light background have been shown to actually cause less eye strain. The dark ones look cooler, but fuck it, I stare at a terminal most of my day.
sublime uses whatever font you want
>editing a config file

dark blue background looks better

anyone use matrix esque setup?
Only advantage is that sytax highlighting is more expressive on a dark background rather than a white one.
>red numeric literals
>blue strings
Approved. Strings should be easy on the eyes, while "magic numbers" (which usually shouldn't be there in the first place) should stick out, if there's too many of them, there's probably too many of them.
See above. Using red(dish) for keywords (which are all over the place, duh) is not the best of ideas.
i'm not a fan of it myself, i prefer a semi dark blue as a white background will eventually make my eyes dry up like raisins
this guy knows
T H I S
H
I
S
Then use a fucking white theme.
They just like bigger and better black cocks.
Its called personal preference.
looks good
how did you get the file bar to the right side, and that look of it?
>dark or bright
>not using best theme in between
how the fuck do you guys use dark themes for programming?

Fixed that for you pussy
>actual programming
>uses rust
People on Sup Forums who use dark themes live in a basement without lights.
If you work in a well lit office a light theme won't hurt your eyes. (it sometimes depend on the screen though).
t. employed programmer.
Funny enough most employed programmers i see use light themes, the only exception is webdevs which use dark themes just because they look cooler
stop swearing, it's against the code of conduct here
The theme is gruvbox plus with dark contrast (you can try Medium if the red is too intense for you)
The font is Operator Mono (both in the editor and in the tree view), the tab bar font is Intro.
The tree view on the right is a setting on the tree view package settings.
oh and the ui theme is called Nucleus Dark
