>thunderbolt just went royalty free
>Intel committed to having thunderbolt integrated into every intel CPU from now on
Why is nobody talking about this?
This shit will be EVERYWHERE
Does this mean that AMD systems will support Thunderbolt now?
Thunderbolt just went royalty free
Thats great, i cant wait for one total port per laptop
Thunderbolt has been around forever. When will we actually see external PCIe enclosures which arent stupid expensive. Until that happens I wont care, I dont use any of the TB ports on my MBP except for the ethernet dongle occassionally, and i'd much rather have a 10GbE rather than 1GbE.
Fuck you you ungrateful shit, why would anyone need 10GbE for
File transfers?
We should see cheaper docks note that there aren't royalties.
We wont, its been around so fucking long we should have some already but they're >$1k. I'm sure Intel's royalties arent that expensive. Even 10GbE NICs go for $500 which is retarded. I have a shit ton of 10GbE NICs i'm not doing shit with and have just stuck in empty slots. I'd like to be able to actually use them.
Lol who has 10gigabait failes
>Why is nobody talking about this?
Too expensive
>amd zen+ now has thunderbolt
People who can afford to spend $100 on a switch?
Autism
i'm sorry you're poor
I think I'm gonna hurl
Shoo Shoo!
This shit will not become widespread.
>i'm sorry you're poor
>hackintosh
Guess why Intel is doing this with PCIe4 coming out soon?
Oculink 2 is coming
>>hackintosh
I literally said earlier in this thread that I have a MBP you tard
Oh fucking wow, who cares? Enjoy your overpriced, dual core laptop.
Isn't this kind of what happened with firewire which was pretty much a Mac exclusive at the time? Immediately before USB came along?
>Enjoy your overpriced, dual core laptop.
I do, I use it to browse the web and and as a remote desktop client for pic related
i don't care
You clearly do because you keep on giving me (You)s from your shitbox
nope, fuck off
half this thread is you giving me (You)s. Im pretty sure pic related cost more than your entire battle station combined.
again, you have nothing better to do, i'm trolling (you)
>mfw you're the richfag from the Windows Server thread
REEEEEEEEEEE
Soon we will see laptops replacing desktops!
Because when all laptops have this port, it will be easy to setup a portable gaming station!
Why do you have BLM shit on your YouTube channel?
>h4lfchan Sup Forums
>bixnood
lel
It'd kill you to actually do something charitable, rather than flaunting your richness in everyone's face.
>I'm only pretending to be retarded
>Why do you have BLM shit on your YouTube channel?
what? I have Big Man Tyrone saying the Bixnood line? Although I do ironically have a BLM and Love Trumps Hate yard sign in my window.
It would. With that said what I was originally talking about, 10GbE NICs are switches are fairly cheap.
Rich? Commodity hardware is rich? You can get 10GbE nics and dual socket xeons for pennies off ebay.
I saved up for a year to be able to afford my current machine
>tfw my piece of shit NAS can't even saturate gigabit ethernet
Even the switches are cheap, the Catalyst 3750E I have is only $100, and you can get 40 SFP+ port 10GbE Nexus 5020s for
about 5 years ago.
Go Mellanox or go home.
Does anyone even use their switches?
>jews
No
>Fuck you you ungrateful shit, why would anyone need 10GbE for
you've never worked in networking, have you?
dumb users filling our SAN with hundred TBs of GIS data and complaining it doesn't go fast enough.
when we get Ethernet compatible, high speed thunderbolt dongles, I'll be happy.
lol i got a late 2016 mpb as well. probably the best laptop i could imagine
let the broke bois hate
>40 gbps
>max length 3 meters
So.. we thunderbolt-networking now?
No, because PCIe/USB isn't a fucking TCP/IP protocol
>When will we actually see external PCIe enclosures which arent stupid expensive
Never, because external PCIe enclosures are retarded and only exist to milk the money out of stupid macfags.
Get a proper computer with PCIe slots.
Why not?
Dont give me some bullshit that "it cant be done" when usb-ethernet adapters have been around for fucking ages
Because latency.
PCIe is simply higher overhead.
