ITT: We Describe our Perfect OS

>linux based but the kernel is written in some modern version of assembly for speed
>light package manager
>has 2 separate repos for FOSS and non-FOSS software
>has a dev summit to vote on which standards to go to(ex: X11 vs Wayland etc)
>can be compiled from source and has a installer
>has a normie edition maintained by a corporation and a community autism edition with a community repo

OpenBSD

>>linux based but the kernel is written in some modern version of assembly for speed
This statement shows that you clearly don't know anything.

>has a sensible file hierarchy
>enforces said hierarchy so programs can't shit files and directories wherever the hell they please
>keeps a journal of all files generated by a program, so uninstalling said program actually removes all the shit it put on your system

>is just gentoo
/thread

Linux is nothing but a kernel OP

Microsoft Windows 10

I think you're on the wrong board. You meant to post this on Sup Forums.

>>modern version of assembly
That's not how assembly works

>>light package manager
>>has 2 separate repos for FOSS and non-FOSS software
>>has a dev summit to vote on which standards to go to(ex: X11 vs Wayland etc)
>>can be compiled from source and has a installer
>>has a normie edition maintained by a corporation and a community autism edition with a community repo
So basically Ubuntu?

completely open macOS

So containerize everything? That's basically what snap packages are.

Templeos with sloc restrictions removed, networking, browser and HolyJS

>Perfect OS
>kernel is written in some modern version of assembly

>Doesn't run any faster than anything else because compilers are better at optimizing machine code than people for the most part and other OS developers already judiciously use assembly where needed.
>hideous maintenance nightmare and yet more bug prone than existing operating systems.
>takes an extra month to patch security vulnerabilites.

>linux kernel
>perfect support for windows programs
>tag based filesystem

Windows 7

Merge AmigaOS with OpenVMS.

>modern assembly for speed
Everything you say after that doesn't matter. You're clearly IT-illiterate and using Linux to be edgy, and not qualified to design am operating system

this

I thought he would want a microkernel architecture, but no, he went complete retard

the fucktard hasn't even written a hello world in assembly

Plan9. Alternatively Open Solaris.

You mean Linux like? Idiot

-3layers of protection
-dead-man switch
-full encryption tools included in basic package
-no bloat
-as good or better support for GAMES than win10
>Animated anime wallpapers
>Mind controlled
>Will find the kind of porn I like without telling to agent Robinson Smith.
>Simplistic interface,icons and everything else
[I mean folder could be just basic shape instead of folder]

>>linux based but the kernel is written in some modern version of assembly for speed
you have literally no idea what you are talking about

Plan9 with proper hardware support

an os with a microkernel focused on security and speed

the rest isn't too important lads

And you post furry trash in 3bit color with clearly downgraded picture quality.
Checkmate creationist!

>not windows
>has games and proper software

Hard to imagine but in 200years it might happen.

>microkernel
LOL

>little babby doesn't know what L4 is

Ubuntu/Debian is perfect, heres why
>apt is super easy, has almost everything by default
>PPA works just fine
>if anything is ported on Linux, its ported for Debian-based distros
>AIs only run custom or public Debian-based distros
>more than 1/3 of the web runs on Debian/Ubuntu
I have been using nix for about 8 years now, tried many distros and never found anything else to be as comfortable/reliable as these two.

>there will never be an updated version of IRIX with modern software repository and drivers, x64 compatible
>there will never be a general purpose proper UNIX with major software vendor support and masterrace CDE

>HolyJS
Fuck outta here

Tell me about IRIX, what's good about it? All I know is that SGI was the solution for digital graphics but I know nothing about their OS.

Pretty much, but with the added bonus of avoiding the ambiguity that the UNIX file hierarchy has.

There's some linux distro that forces a new hierarchy, a quite nice one at that, but I can't remember what it's called.

OpenVMS.

Rust is pretty much modern assembly.

GNU/DOS

has a real female personality, laughs at my jokes, tells me it loves me wants to have sex with me and be my wife.

Linux + games

xubuntu

mate

i can't even install steam on my fucking chromebook which is just a Linux OS.

would be nice to play my shitty games m8...

Gobo?
Didn't it just create links and then hid the old file hierarchy under the carpet?

It's not up to the OS developers to support games, you retard. It's the other way around.

...

this but with a kernel closer to qnx so it's useful for time-critical shit and near impossible to kill

The perfect OS is and always will be webOS

open source macos

that's it

>threads own post

How's summer going, newfag?

fast, secure, powerful, freedom respecting, open source?

>kernel is written in some modern version of assembly for speed
Moron. Even if you do write your own assembly language the machine code will still be similar, and C gets turned into assembly during the compilation process so it literally wouldn't matter.

Upgrading on debian is a huge pain and packages are older than my grandpa's ss uniform.
Ubuntu is a little better in the packages department but even worse to upgrade.

I'd like to interject. I have linux running on my machine and it has a desptop environment.

while that is true, unfortunately theres nothing better for now.

>Gobo
That's the one. I'm not particularly worried about how it's being handled under the hood; as long as I can intuitively tell exactly where a given file will be at, I'm happy.

fug I thought there was a crack on my screen for a second

>Rolling Release
I can't believe nobody's said this yet.

>I want a linux based OS that isn't Linux based
Do you just parrot words and phrases you hear on Sup Forums to pretend you know what your talking about?

>Kernel written in assembly
modern compilers are more efficient
>Light package manager
What exactly is a light package manager
>dev summit to vote on which standards to go to
>X11 vs Wayland
Or just both could be delivered?
>Can be compiled from source
like every distribution already available

This level of retardation shouldn't be reachable

No systemd

Gobolinux + Xfce + Raven from Budgie desktop + Finder file manager + all software as appimages
