WHERE THE FUCK IS MY GRAPHENE CPU

WHERE THE FUCK IS MY GRAPHENE CPU

WHERE THE FUCK IS MY GRAPHENE ANYTHING

>>>/india/

not happening, or at least not anytime soon

graphene, along with memristors and quantum PCs are memes

>scientist dickovers graphene in 1990
>Over 40 years later and we still don't have graphene -ANYTHING-

what a worthless discover lol

more or less the same time that it took to find the first real word applications to superconductivity.
They research on the matter is still ongoing.

>Elemental silicon first isolated in 1808
>transistors weren't a thing for another 140 years
Really gets your ion channels opening

>we have to wait 140 turns for our civilization to finish researching graphene

LMAO who the fuck is running this society

>NEW GRAPHENE BATTERY TECHNOLOGY
>COMING SOON
>2017
>WE STILL LITHIUM UP IN THIS BITCH

>believing marketing sensationalism
Private companies always claim to be able to do something incredible.

Nobody. We are in serious need of a dictator.

Graphmeme will never be real.

Superconductos is where it's at.

Imagine cpu's that don't release heat.

You could just OC them into oblivion and would be MUCH more power efficient

single layer of graphene do show high-T supoerconductivity.

You know why they're called "semi" conductors, don't you user?

WHERE THE FUCK IS MY BANDGAP

>Graphene is the magical material that will make everything great
>News articles about this every few years
>Nothing comes of it

Really activates my almonds.

>Ubuntu touch failed kickstarter listed "silicon anode battery" as part of the specs
>years pass and nothing has that yet.

>Sup Forumsamers in charge of solid state physics
gotta admit I expected much worse, having seen /sci/

Yeah. Our money and focus is all over the place. If we weren't pissing around and humanity had a focus we would already be a space faring species in a useful sense.

>Sup Forumsamers
get the fuck out

Blame the media.

Graphene is hyped as the "just around the corner" magical substance every few years.

...

ubuntu touch a dead

>>NEW GRAPHENE BATTERY TECHNOLOGY
you can build your own graphene batteries easily, though...
IIRC, lithium batteries still have more power density than graphene batteries so they make no sense economically speaking

Ask Intlel.

Oops, wrong pic.

>not to scale
thanks for clarifying

>Beyond 2020
Is Intlel the new Waitâ„¢ company?

Basically, people haven't figured out how to actually manufacture graphene on a meaningful scale.

Watching Intel get into a losing fight with the laws of physics is pretty hilarious desu.

Master student in solid state physics here. Graphene is not a meme. Producing a single big and perfect plane of atoms is hard as fuck.

>It's not a meme, it's just a meme
What did he memean by this?

>implying governments and coorperations aren't surpressing the advancement of technology to satisfy their alien overlords

But the aliens gave us the technology

>You could just OC them into oblivion and would be MUCH more power efficient

What is the speed of light, retard. Great, now your CPU runs on 50 GHz, and memory access still takes 20 nano seconds.

Graphene heatsinks will be the future.

You have to wait until a manufacturing method is developed. IBM can build transistors 1 atom at a time but it takes weeks. Carbon nano-tubes are faster but in essence the same thing.
Moore's law is coming close to an end using the photolithographic process today. Not that I know positively, but had read the limit of the process is about 1 nanometer while we are at 10nm today.
I'm sure there is much science being performed to continue past these limitations but we're waiting for a mass production method in the meantime.

Why?

You know (((who)))

It's amazing really. First CPU's were 10 microns or 10000 nanometers. The 8086 was 3000nm in 1978 and today, 45 years later from the beginnings 10nm.
Quantum physics plays an important role at 10nm and below where electrons can jump traces or vanish altogether from my understanding. This is the point it gets interesting.

Humans are too political and tribal; even if it is benevolent, a world government will meet pushback.

Besides, how do we determine who rules the world? We have a long history of dissatisfaction selecting national/regional/city governments

Non volatile graphene RAM when?

This is not how CPUs work.

>most microcontrollers are still on 350/250/180nm

3D Xpoint is out now. Called Optane.

Guess modern CPUs basically superconduct now around -120C. You can double the clock rate when you do. Hence why you see guys doing the liquid nitrogen OCs.

The Jews haven't harvested all the silicon money yet, user, we gotta wait

I'll just buy the 16GB one for $50, the future is here!

Thats because older nodes are piss cheap since the process is extremely mature.
