Need help fags. I never used linux and I was thinking jumping straight to Kali for the lulz shits and giggles since, supposedly, that distro has some funny script kiddie utilities to fuck around. Is it too heavy for a first distro? Also can you actually pull off some sort of Mitm attack at layer 2 level? (or it was just a thing of the fucking 90's?)

Powering up an old laptop that what the bed awhile ago. Put in Ubuntu 15.10 to run as a live cd. Any actual advice? Diagnostics? Install drivers? I just want it running again so I can install Kali or something.

Follow up: I want to be able to open the terminal and format the whole thing through there while running the live cd so i can install after.

That shit looks dank, I'll definitely read it, I've also been reading the Linux Bible in hopes of becoming more of a "Power User"

Kali and Ubuntu are both based on Debian so they're both similar in difficulty to use, therefore if you practice doing day to day stuff with Ubuntu for a while it will make things easier when you go balls deep and start doing script kiddie things on Kali, also you can install most of the programs on Kali on Ubuntu too

Install arch
