nah

how do you even get good font rendering on linux?

Yay for Gnome

You look at bad rendering for so long until you're used to it.

lots of haxxing aka reading wikis

Install a modern DE like Gnome or KDE instead of trying to be a hipster.

OP your screenshot looks like puke and diarrhea at approximately 1:1 ratio

win10 is superior, we all know that

heres mine

I didn't realize how horrible Windows font rendering was until I switched to macOS.

g-good joke user

>Using Chrome as an example
2/10 made me reply.

>implying it's chrome

>here's my useless image
Thanks for that m88.

I am, yes.

gist.github.com/cryzed/e002e7057435f02cc7894b9e748c5671#creating-an-infinality-like-fontconfig-configuration

follow this guide and install web-safe fonts like Open Sans, Droid Sans and serif

fonts.google.com/

I still prefer macOS. Also, macOS can actually show the kanji on that page.

Linux can too. WenQuanYi Micro Hei has kanji/hangul/hanja/hanzi and more Asian fonts, all in one. But OP does not have it installed.

>macOS can actually show the kanji on that page
Rocket science.

>osx
>good

>GPL
>free

KDE works fine

Stock fedora, fuck hinting.

>GPL
>Incompatible with GFDL

Fucking GNU, can't even make a compastible source and documentation license - that's right, you CAN'T ship code licesned under GPL and Documentation for that code under GFDL together.
Hell, it's legally gray as to whether you can even write documentation for a GPL licensed program with GFDL.

What a bunch of a fucking moronos.

hdpi scaling is on but so what, same with any macfag

or just install fucking noto if you want to be safe for any language under the sun

I will do that actually, thanks for the advice

They might not be THE best font for every single language but it's the best if you just want every language covered with great fonts. Consistency is nice too

why does the text have red shadow?

>fuck hinting
I agree

Using cinnamon

=w=

It's good out of the box these days.

>only 5k
check out this poorfag with only one monitor

>get a copy of infinality
>make multiple copies, save it literally everywhere so you won't lose it
>install whenever
there, i solved your font problems

...

>Blurry text
This is a terrible meme.

thanks my eyesight went bad from looking at your screenshot and you're covering the cost of the operation to fix it

I honestly just use the font config on manjaros page and it looks pretty nice.

infinality ded m8

up to date freetype
disable hinting
also gist.github.com/cryzed/e002e7057435f02cc7894b9e748c5671

if it still works its good

...

It's called sub pixel Antialiasing.
It's literally the best quality an rgb screen can display fonts.

Last time I downloaded KDE (about a month ago) it had antialiasing turned off by default.

>It's literally the best quality an rgb screen can display fonts.
sure looks to me like it's the best way to have shit fonts with colouring artifacts that give you a headache
sub pixel aa and font hinting are the devil

Do you use pentile or what? On a normal rgb screen, correctly sub-pixel antialiased fonts look much sharper than grayscale

post yours

I never think about font rendering. Is mine any good?

El oh el.

yes yes very good arch HOWEVER

Am I the only one who prefers non-blurred edges on my text?

No.

>correctly sub-pixel antialiased fonts look much sharper than grayscale
We are talking about no antialiasing at all.

To be fair, many typefaces look terrible without antialiasing. You need to use custom CSS (e.g., the Stylus extension) to change everything to Arial.

...like so.

THIS is font rendering

Unfortunately, people forgot about finely refined pixel-perfect fonts.
It just makes me sad.

macOS renders the fonts as they would appear on the printed page, and not to the arbitrary concerns of an autistic Shasta-guzzling engineer who believes aesthetics are for fags; it is the only choice for those with actual taste

Can I play too?

Absolutely disgusting kerning; you people aren't even trying

pathetic lincucks with their blurry thin deformed flacid fonts

Try to impress me, Sup Forums. Tell me what I'm using here.

yaourt google fonts
install them
hinting Full
subpixel RGB or BGR depending on dark or light theme.

How is it Sup Forums?

>that J

some oldass laptop with 1280x1024 screen?

>archlinux.png

Daily reminder that it is useless to compare fonts on desktop screenshots, and being watched on a gazillion of different browsers, image viewers, displays etc.

>macOS renders the fonts as they would appear on the printed page, and not to the arbitrary concerns of an autistic Shasta-guzzling engineer who believes aesthetics are for fags; it is the only choice for those with actual taste
Show me rainbow blur, faggot.

medium hinting with bgr I believe. Shit taste my guy. Full hinting + RGB is best

...

Font rendering is usually pretty good these days, even on shitphones. It's only on Windows that it's an embarrassment.

Mac os has no feature to change the font rendering in case you have a screen with non standard subpixel layout. Embarrassing, it's actually the worst just based on this.

That looks like shit.

arch with whatever the replacement for infinality was, forget the name.
QTWebEngine.
I set the minimum fontsize to 12 because 'don't zoom images' isn't implemented yet.

>4336x831

didn't mean to quote
and forgot this

...

>web-safe fonts
wtf does this mean

This is probably the ultimate font rendering test

except that its completely irrevelant to regular font rendering in any non-asian part of the world

The idea is that if you can handle this, you can handle anything.

these are the only acceptable font renderings in this thread so far

Someone tell me if this is good or bad, I can't tell the difference.

firefox to compare

Why do you guys care about such inane things?

Catch-22
>caring about font-rendering is autism
>not caring about font-rendering is autism

Now it's fine, thanks

>the current workaround to make macs display fonts properly on bgr screens is turning the screen 180 degrees

good?

believe it or not you can resize windows nowadays

Why does it seem like it's hard as balls to change webfonts

By installing hackintosh

...

You have a shitty monitor.

This is the best one here. The rest are shit.
