Windows PCs

Has anyone else had issues with their windows pc recently? I've used a little windows netbook just to browse the web, against my better judgement, I figured if I just used it to read news and use Sup Forums it would be secure enough.

I'm now on my linux machine and will never use Microsoft software again. I've never had a single security issue running linux, this morning on the windows book all my requests were redirected to a site requesting a username and password, Windows warning that it was a malicious pornographic website and that logging into this server was illegal. I don't download pornography on this machine, I've only used it to read the news.

I own a domain and got an email from the dns provider that it has more than 5,000 directories and will be shut down. The weird thing about that is, I only own the domain, i'm not paying for hosting services.

Has anyone else had similar problems? How is Microsoft even a company at this point? Luckily I don't keep anything personal on this PC, but what if I were running a business and using this machine? Really just disturbed at how shitty their software has become.

fuck you, microsoft.

I want my money back for this shitty PC. When I bought it I wasn't even aware of the UEFI firmware. Now I can't even use it with any confidence. Anyone know a way to wipe windows off a machine with UEFI?

I have a windows HP laptop that turns off sometimes when I leave it in sleep mode
Strange

This piece of shit computer never turns itself off. If I shut it down, it runs out of battery power even faster than when i'm using it.

Is this bait? How tech illiterate can you possibly be and fail so miserably at using a normie operating system?

My pirated license expired, now it asks me for activation.
Make up your mind MS, you bunch of cucks.

Same here on asus laptop

I barely use it at all fuckstick. I have multiple computers, one running openbsd, this one's running gentoo. They've never been hacked. The windows pc has. I'd say that's a problem with the software, not a problem with me

Just wipe it like normally, the windows Entry will remain, but windows won't be there anymore. When you install Linux it will create it's own UEFI Entry (assuming you boot the USB in UEFI mode).
If you boot and install in Legacy Mode you can just choose you HDD to Boot from and it will Boot Legacy

Kek. You're literally no better than dumb blonde girls that say they didn't do Anything when asked how their computer got a virus. Learn how to even use the damn thing first before pointing fault at the computer

What makes him look Tech Illiterate ?
(apart from not knowing what UEFI is which isn't really mandatory for a normal user)

but it is a problem with windows software. Also the BIOS doesn't have any options for changing the boot order and will not boot to a usb. This is what i'm looking for advice on, how do I force this thing to boot to the usb stick?

Can you tell me the Model?

lenovo ideapad 100s

Nice job OP. All Windows PCs btfo

The manual states that you can change the Boot order so either you dont know how to navigate menus or the manual lies.

Try Booting into BIOS (probably by pressing F1 or F12 during boot)
Find the Boot option

Change Boot Order

???

linux

Or the Hard way (if you really can't do it )

Put Laptop HDD into another PC

Install Linux

Put Laptop HDD back into Laptop

Tada

it really won't let you change the order. I'm reading now that it will only boot 32bit, i'm going to try an i386 system and see if it will boot

my piece of shit windows 10 pc randomly started crashing about 2 minutes into a youtube video, I'd gladly switch to linux but muh vidya

this actually sounds like the easy way, i'll give it a shot

Which Game do you Play that isn't on Linux?

Install Ubuntu on it and you won't have this problem again.

I have other computers, i'll either get a decent system on this one or i'll sell it on craigslist. The computer was compromised by MS and lenovo before I ever even got it, it's just really annoying to spend your money on something that tries to prevent you from installing the system of your choice. I've never had another computer that does the things this computer does. It's because it's a $200 box made for niggers who don't know that they're being spied on. I didn't care that MS was collecting information, I care now that the machine has been compromised by god knows who.

Ah, it's buttfucking you with a custom EFI implementation? I bought a $200 ASUS craptop that did the same thing. It forced you to use only Winshit 10 with no legacy settings in the BIOS and it wouldn't boot from flash drives with Ubuntu on them. Anyways, I ended up getting frustrated and throwing it at a wall. Then I threw it away and gave a scathing review on Amazon, typing as fast as I could with my cheeto dust covered fingers. I've learned my lesson with EFI fuckery.

this exactly. Won't fall for this shit again. These people are really fucking themselves in the long run, search for this issue on google and a lot of people are pissed.

>I own a domain and got an email from the dns provider that it has more than 5,000 directories and will be shut down. The weird thing about that is, I only own the domain, i'm not paying for hosting services.
Nigga, what does that even have to do with your OS?

When you use the notebook at home remove the battery.... otherwise buy new one every year.

I just realized that was a fishing attempt. it was just happening at the same time as the other shit and I was raging pissed

>being redirected "out of nowhere" to weird ass pornographic sites;
>dubious phising attempts that just happen to be at the same time;
>Windows sucks, i dindu nuffin, muh evil hackers are to blame;

Yeah, ok.

what am I supposed to think? This has never happened on my other machines, and they don't have windows installed on them. Seems like an easy answer.

>This has never happened on my other machines, and they don't have windows installed on them. Seems like an easy answer.
yeah, 'gayalbinomidgetporn.mp4.exe' hasnt been turned into a .deb/rpm/whatever yet.

It hasn't as far as I can tell. Common Linux distributions like Ubuntu and Fedora and OpenPEPE don't seem to get malware. The marketshare grows every year and there are plenty of exploits floating around. My theory is that Linux is not only more secure, but people running it are actually updating their shit.

> Common Linux distributions like Ubuntu and Fedora and OpenPEPE don't seem to get malware.
Is that how Turla remained undetected for 4 years?
>The marketshare grows every year and there are plenty of exploits floating around.
Yeah, to around 2 percent.
>My theory is that Linux is not only more secure
How come Android became full of malware and shit once they got popular?
You have safety in obscurity, just like Macfags kept bragging about "macs simply don't get viruses" until the mid 2000's, when they marketshare grew a bit.
>but people running it are actually updating their shit.
Not really.

did you click on an advertisement or "sponsored story" by accident?

you can thank the NSA and shit internet advertising standards for likely loading malware on your machine through an advertisement.

>PCs
Literally what? Is it 1992?

>Is that how Turla remained undetected for 4 years?
Must not have been serious because I haven't heard anything about it.
>Yeah, to around 2 percent.
That's still millions of computers.
>How come Android became full of malware and shit once they got popular?
Because Android is shit. Also, I'm talking about GNU/Linux which is what is used on desktops. Android is not GNU. And again, Android has no security issues if you update. The people getting malware are the normies that never get updates.
>You have safety in obscurity, just like Macfags kept bragging about "macs simply don't get viruses" until the mid 2000's, when they marketshare grew a bit.
OS X still has a lot less malware than Windows does.
>>but people running it are actually updating their shit.
>Not really.
Most people running Linux on their desktops know more about computers than the average retard, and see the value in installing security updates, ad blockers, etc.

If you own a computer that only you use, it's a personal computer, or a PC. Now fuck off, dumbass.

>Must not have been serious because I haven't heard anything about it.
Yeah, it just collected a ton of info on govs and militaries for years, nothing serious.
It just was just way more subtle than ransomware like WannaCry(for that you need Linux.Encoder.1)
>That's still millions of computers.
Drop in the bucket.
>Because Android is shit.
It still shares the kernel, security model, etc..
>Also, I'm talking about GNU/Linux which is what is used on desktops.
Oh, i'm sorry no one gives a shit about fiddly crap like desktop linux.
>And again, Android has no security issues if you update.
Actually, most malware on Android comes from browsers and custom app stores.
>The people getting malware are the normies that never get updates.
Operating system security 101.
WannaCry is the same.
>Most people running Linux on their desktops know more about computers than the average retard
Not really.
Seen a lot of idiots there as well.

Windows 10 constantly hammers on my hard drive despite having done everything I could find to make it stop. Therefore, I hackintoshed it and refuse to look back.

I don't know how to use Apple computers but you don't go see me spouting nonsense that Macs aren't user friendly because I don't know how to use them. It takes about one or two months for Microsoft to give you all the current and past updates, for some stupid reason or another, and that's supposing you manually installed the first 3 years of 'updates', I mean patches, right after installing the OS.

>Yeah, it just collected a ton of info on govs and militaries for years, nothing serious.
>It just was just way more subtle than ransomware like WannaCry(for that you need Linux.Encoder.1)
Ok. It's patched now anyways it's a single piece of malware. Windows gets this shit every week.
>Drop in the bucket.
>It still shares the kernel, security model, etc..
>Oh, i'm sorry no one gives a shit about fiddly crap like desktop linux.
Not an argument.
>Actually, most malware on Android comes from browsers and custom app stores.
Again, not a problem if you fucking update to the latest version.
>Operating system security 101.
>WannaCry is the same.
>Not really.
>Seen a lot of idiots there as well.
Not an argument.

Yes, right, it's called a RIG these days.

>this morning on the windows book all my requests were redirected to a site requesting a username and password, Windows warning that it was a malicious pornographic website and that logging into this server was illegal.

You're fucked. You get v& tomorrow on trumped-up CP charges, the Windows machine will be seized and used as evidence against you and the judge, prosecutor, defense lawyer and jury are all so computer illiterate that when the prosecutor tells them "The only way this could happen is if the defendant was deliberately and knowingly seeking child pornography.", they'll fucking believe it.

It was nice knowing you, user. If I were you, I'd an hero before they could arrest me.

CIA niggers just framed you, goodbye OP

>secure enough
Windows is never secure enough.
