He does not safely eject his dongle

>he does not safely eject his dongle

How's the data corruption?

i ejected my dongle all over your mom's chest

I dont use windows but I do sync and umount

I do however work at a Uni in IT and fairly often have students coming to us begging for help that they lost whatever bullshit they didnt save elsewhere when they pulled out their USB. It's not that I can't help but we dont.

>he doesn't know about mount options
how's life with an IQ of 27 ?

>dongle

It's called pen drive, retard.

>does not understand that not ejecting a dongle can only harm a file system that has journaling
im a linux user and i umount any usb device when im done with it

that said, you can unplug your dongle whenever you want if the filesystem on it does not use journaling. ejecting/unmounting a dongle forces the changes being kept in the journal to be committed and written to disk.

with no journaling FS, then the changes are always written as soon as they are made. no need to eject/umount to ensure that the journal information was written correctly

>pen drive
It's called flash drive, retard.

rekd and kekd

>Flash drive
It's called a zip diskette retard

>you have to safely eject your pocket cloud drives
Literally deprecated technology, iCloud, Onedrive etc. don't have this problem.

*disquette

>*disquette

It's called a floppy disk, retard.

It's called a punch card, retard.

your mom told me all about your 3.5 inch floppy. sorry bro, that shit must suck

>that shit must suck

Just like your mom.

>needing this much storage on a flash drive

Cheeto. Fingered. Loser.

holy fucking shit user.

who the hell do you think you are talking about my mother that way.

your just some virgin autist prolly livin with your folks and you come here to be because its the only place you can talk shit without someone punching your pudgy nerdy ass.

forget her O face, your mom better put on her Big O face cuz i got something inbetween my legs that can choke a land mammal and its going down her hatch

goddamn I hate those pny drives. Slow as shit and are so unnecessarily hard to close when you need to put it away.

gig stick

I swear I recall tests being ran that showed it didn't matter whether or not you unmounted it.

Oh well as long as your shit is backed up your out what $20?

>using that flash drive

have fun when the clear plastic bit comes off within a month of use

It's called a vacuum tube, retard.

It's called a penis, retard.

>flash drive
it's called pocket ssd, autist.

It's really worth it imo desu.

Its a thumb drive you boob

>lsblk
>sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt
>sudo umount /dev/sdb1

Every time.

i never safely ejected a pendrive when i used to use windows

fuck society

that doesn't sound fun at all, not one bit

>she uses cloud storage for her photos
enjoy getting them nudes leaked

Litterally bursted into laughters while reading this in the train this morning. You made my day user

What's the best external hard drive currently out there?

I just sync and then pull it out. No need to unmount.

I unironically eject my pen drives everytime.

you're literally a retard, unmount syncs it anyway.

Spotted the hue

you have it around the wrong way
the purpose of journaling is to separate in-progress writes and completed writes
if you unplug during a write without a journal, you damage whatever was being written, and it was writing directly to the file, not to a journal
if you unplug during a write with a journal, only the journal is affected, and will be rolled back automatically upon mount

if you're on windows, and safely unmount, remember to also set windows to use "optimise for performance" rather than the default "optimise for removal", to get the full benefit
