It wouldn't be worse since they would just take kubuntu and turn it into ubuntu, it doesn't really matter what they choosed anyway since there are lots of flavors, and thanks to this movement of canolical now yunit is created and it's possible to install unity on debian, so we will see unity fork of ubuntu, official or not
