So I'm thinking about learning Portuguese...

So I'm thinking about learning Portuguese, so I'm asking the question every newbie asks; which dialect should I focus on Brazilian or Portuguese? I wanna speak the more widely understood variety, so which one do people in countries like Angola, Mozambique, and the Portuguese-speaking communities in India understand more clearly?

>I'm thinking about learning Portuguese
don't

you means brazilian?

Literally why
Every country that speaks portuguese is a shithole. Learn french or german

>So I'm thinking about learning Portuguese

top kek

>french
why. french only is spoken in france and a bunch of nigger shitholes.
>german
only is spoken in germany, but at least germany is the most important european cunt. more if you are a polish toilet cleaner.

Both German and french are lingua francas

>German

Literally where?

I wanna learn Spanish.
Japanese is really useless.
I hate my mother tongue.

>not learning French and Russian

Are you even trying?

speak the BR one that everyone will understand you. We can understand all accents 2bh. Just some word meanings are different but the rest is the same

there are better languages to learn...

anyway, brazilian portuguese is easier one, especialy if you already know spanish.
european and african portuguese are pretty much the same, the diference lies in the prevalence of creole words in the african versions

>easier

implying it isn't just a matter of not sounding 35 years older than you're

>wanting to learn this meme

I think it's true that Brazilian portuguese is easier to learn because there are more song, tv-shows, youtubers in BR portuguese and Brazilians tend to talk more therefore you will listen more to the language. Also BR portuguese articulate more therefore it's easier to understand what is being said, while European Portuguese sounds a bit like mumbling sometimes.

There are 205 million brazilians and 10 million portuguese. How isn't the choice obvious?

gerĂșndio is a very nice way to make intelegible sentences without having a lot of practice or knowledge, and the brazilian variant is the one using gerundio the most

pretty much that, except it's not mumbling as much as it is devouring vowels left and right (like serbo-croatian does)

> There are 205 million brazilians

I've never seen a brazilian ever in my life! For all I know Brazil might not even exist and you guys are just shills paid to make me believe in this illusion ''Brazil''

that's "belgium" and not brazil

Isn't "Belgium" supposed to be that EU building at the NL-FR border?

Portuguese is the most useless colonist language to learn.

The area of use is so fucking minuscule.

I don't know why it even exists, why the fuck couldn't they have just used Spanish? Was it really worth it to seem edgy and independent?

Fucksake, it's because of this that I have to speak donkey Spanish if I want primo escort bunda.

People already speak your language, why do you care ?

Dear American user...
If you want to learn Portuguese, learn Spanish instead.

Or, if you *r e a l l y* want to learn Portuguese, learn the Brazilian variety of it.

Here's why:
You're American - Learn a language from a country that's close to you and that has many of its people living in yours - example: Mexico.

Portuguese from Portugal is fucking useless, unless you want in on the cringe fest that is Portuguese humor and our country's "WE WUZ EXPLORERS AND SHIEET" mentality.

Why the fuck would you want to learn nigger Portuguese unless you're a nigger yourself with family there? They have the worst kind of music there is and they've infested Portugal with it.

Sincerely, a concerned citizen

Br version is understood widely
Here are some links to help you out I'm a fellow newbie but i have some links and such that could be useful
