When exactly did you grow out of Windows Sup Forums? For me it was 2012 when I discovered Xubuntu. Now I'm running Manjaro and I couldn't be happier.

I grew out of it last year when I got the MacBook Air

2 years when I got my MacBook pro

so, you came out as gay? how did your poor parents react?

Around the time Windows 10 was released, I got introduced to Ubuntu in one of my university classes. Liked it so much I made it my daily driver.

Nowadays I'm a walking Sup Forums meme. Gentoo, thinkpad, etc.

Never, since I actually have a job and use my PC for more things than shitposting on Sup Forums and watching anime and need to run industry standard software that doesn't exist on Linux

idk like 2 uears ago when i used ubuntu
now i use diet gentoo

i grow in of windows because i realized linux is crap.

>industry standard software that doesn't exist on Linux

it's so very sad to see this poorly educated people on Sup Forums

no wonder you're being replaced en masse by H1B Pajeets

You 'grew out' of windows and yet still play games. Is this the neckbeard version of buying into the macbook social lifestyle?

Fun fact, compsci isn't the only career that exists

don't you worry mr. trips

your career choice is being insourced by H1B Pajeets as well

And I also don't live in a third world shithole like the US, so no

>third world shithole like the US

are you from europe? where everyone is from somalia or pakistan?

You should really grow into proper English comprehension before posting any more.

u got mad pleb, is it because i have insulted your meme operating system?

2007-8. Installed Ubuntu and started some programming. Never looked back

I never had to "grow out" of Windows because I'm not the type of person who blindly fanboys about shit. When the quality started going downhill I just moved to Linux. If something better comes along I'll move to that. Windows users, especially on this board, have a tendency to blindly defend Windows to the put of outright denying any of the actual issues that exist with Windows. That's just retarded. Nothing will ever change for the better that way.

Why Manjaro?

I can't "grow out of" Windows until Adobe makes their applications natively for Linux.

>pretending he actually uses Adobe products for more than shitty MS Paint-tier memes
keep trying pajeet

SIGH ITS THIS POST AGAIN

>gimp
>krita
>blender (for video)
>lightbox
etc

it's much faster to install and configure than Arch, i don't have to do use, forgive my opinion, rather primitive tools like cfdisk to partition my drive, then manually turn on the swap partion then install base and base-devel, then lose some more time on installing all of the xorg packages and dependencies, then chrooting it all and selecting my keyboard with nano, then editing sudoers with visudo, mounting and unmounting, dude long story short i just want an operating system to install in less than half an hour and move on with my life

there are distros more suited for incomptents like you, the distros based on other distros like Manjaro are buggy messes

literally me. installed arch once and that was enough for me

>i will never get those 8 hours back

i had no issues with manjaro so far

>install arch
>8 hours
what the fuck lol it takes like 15 minutes, and another 10 to install a just-works desktop. the instructional wiki is one page for fucks sake lol. It doesn't even require a 3-digit IQ. How many brainlets are on Sup Forums right now? I severely overestimated the intelligence on this board.

>that ugly arc them seeping into your firefox text fields

perhaps, but can you sudo pacman -S girlfriend?

i know, it's this shit compact dark theme i got used to, this is the default arc

I switched to slackware in 1998

firefox takes on your system theme for text fields. libreoffice too. makes things look inconsistent. annoying, i know

>slackware

shit, they're still around? huh, they're hard to kill.

you are fucking old. how do you feel knowing that a large percentage of Sup Forums is now underage spillover from Sup Forums?

Aren't they from Sup Forums and reddit?

Sup Forums unfortunately is everywhere now. Sup Forums and reddit or synonymous.

>GIMP
Can't even select two or more layers at the same time.

Get that stuff out of here. Go home.

2009 I think, because I got sick of waiting for windows updates and the endless restarting. Dual booted for about 3 years before I nuked my winshit partition. I hadn't used it for a year by that time.

>2007-8. Installed Ubuntu and failed at programming. Never went anywhere.
FTFY

Kek for yourself, mate.

1999

I really have no reason to use osx nor windows. I'm also a gamer.

im still a vidya faggot so

when windows 10 was released, and i realised that only a fucking moron would use an os that spies on them

>gimp
>krita
>blender (for video)
>lightbox

sigh its this post again

>implying you ever do anything more then cropping your anime pictures
ok child

>blender (for video)

How about DaVinci Resolve instead? It's a professional-grade video editor and THE Hollywood industry color grading suite, natively compatible with Linux.

This

I have used linux since 2007.
In the beginning I switched back and forth a lot, because I needed windows software for school, but I started to use it full time around 2012-2013.

>now I run a flat UI Linux distro based OS, I'm so totally mature and responsible now, not like that silly kid I was back when I used Windows :^)

>5'7"
>100k
>set my own hours

this looks so comfy. wish I worked from home with a comfy tech setup and comfy mist obscuring the tries outside my window

Linux is fine and you should use it if you want to.
I prefer stuff like working device drivers, all the software I need, and plenty of other crap. Feel free to hate on Windows 10 but it's actually not that bad.

>Linux users, especially on this board, have a tendency to blindly defend Linux to the put of outright denying any of the actual issues that exist with Linux
FTFY
The only issues I have with Windows are:
1. Clover steals focus on mouseover of the left pane when the file/folder name is too long to fit and brings up the tooltip to show it.
2. File transfer dialogues are pop-under.

That's it.

If you had to go running off to Linux it's probably because you're too stupid for a professional OS.
>I have to click 5 buttons on install with Windows? That's too complicated! Ubuntu just sends me right to Firefox, and that's all I need!

No games

The base software is also free forever, but you can upgrade to Resolve Studio for extra features.

A lot of the hate on Windows 10 is the built in spyware
>inb4 nothing to hide
I don't care if I don't have anything to hide, I want privacy and not a bunch of pajeets watching me.
>Wine.
>Most games support Linux other than AAA titles.

Thanks user

>select two or more layers at the same time.
but... why?

unfortunately Windows nowadays is too much of a buggy mess to consider for serious use. Linux isn't perfect but beats that turd.
>too stupid for a professional OS
opinion immediately discarded. there is nothing professional about a system that crashes all the time and gets infected easily. I just don't have the patience for that crap that you're pretending doesn't exist.

>Use a (((professional))) OS goy. You're not too stupid to run a (((professional))) OS, are you?
shoo shoo shlomo

> For me it was 2012 when I discovered Xubuntu. Now I'm running Manjaro and I couldn't be happier.
Why do a lot of linux converts sound like they a annoying vegan/gay coming out of the closet combo, when they tell you how they became linux users?

I think it has a lot to do with excitement about something new. Spending years using the garbage that is Windows will do that to you, when you find out that a better alternative exists, some people can't help but be annoying about it. I don't know how you can go for years using Linux and still be that annoying though.

>other than AAA titles.
Ah yes, hipster indie bullshit.

I would love to be able to use manjaro but for some reason it keeps fucking up the kernel headers when installing gpu drivers...
I'm on Ubuntu almost a year now and have no problems...

I also hate how they start talking in massive cliches.
And 70% of those end in "and i never looked back".
It's like i'm talking to some homosexual Jehova's Witness.

When you're working on a complex project with tons of layers, you're probably going to have to move a couple of them at the same time.

Not every Sup Forumsentooman is the same.

I remember being 13 years old and thinking I was edgy and cool for using Arch Linux. Now I'm an adult and have come to my senses, so I stick to Windows.

yeah I notice this a lot. especially in facebook normies that are new to Linux.

I think it's a combination of wanting to appear cool and different, and being excited about newfound freedom from the shit Windows puts them through. Mostly the first one though

I wish Windows just worked, I would use it for Photoshop alone but it's just so unreliable now. Kind of sad when distros like Arch just work and Windows shits the bed

>just works
>half the things in AUR don't work

For me, a decade and a half ago. I started with puppy linux.

Grew out of it completely at windows 8. Windows 7 was the last usable version for me, and 10 made me completely hate Microsoft.

Now I just run a VM for the rare times that I need to use a windows only thing instead of dual booting like I used to.

Oh

>half the things in the AUR don't work
Incorrect, did you actually use the AUR or do you just base your opinions on Sup Forums memes?

I moved from Windows to macOS and eventually I installed Ubuntu and got redpilled. I moved to Xubuntu > Ubuntu minimal + i3wm > Gentoo and now I'm on Debian stable.

still havent grown out of it since my lil sis and lil bro still use my computer, i just run arch on a bootable usb drive when i get on.

Gentoo's awesome. Daily driver for 4 years now. Slow to install but once you have everything set up with the software you like it's perfect. What made you switch?

>run arch on a bootable usb drive when i want to make a screenshot for a screenfetch thread
FTFY

Enjoy playing games? Forget that.
Enjoy using media-related software?(3D rendering/Adobe suite/FruityLoops/So on) Forget that.
Enjoy H-games? Forget those.
Enjoy relating to 90% of the planet? Forget that.

Enjoy fiddling with Wine in a vain attempt to run shit natively designed for WINDOWS? Sign up for Linux!

Enjoy basically only using your computer to browse the internet? Sign up for Linux!

Take a good look at OP's Picture.

Let's see!

VLC(Why the fuck aren't you using MPV you dumbass?)

Calculator
LibreOffice
Pigeon(Chat shit)
Steam
Torrenting

Wow! Just look at all that exclusive linux software.

>BUT BUT PACKAGE MANAGER AND I CAN JUST TYPE COMMAND IN TERMINAL 2 UPDATE

all my H-games work faggot :^)

What crashes? I have two machines under full load 24/7 and with absolutely no issues.
Like I said, PEBKAC. You apparently need nothing but a phone OS, so Linux was right for you. Congratulations. Now please leave as this is not the board for you.

I'm gonna have to see your collection.

>he actually thinks GIMP is a viable alternative to Photoshop

They aren't even close. Many of the non-destructive features that make Photoshop great (filter/adjustment layers, layer effects, smart objects, high-end CMYK support, shape tool, etc.), GIMP isn't even expected to have for another couple of years according to their roadmap. The ability to select and move multiple layers, like Photoshop has had for years, isn't even on the roadmap!

wiki.gimp.org/wiki/Roadmap

>works on my machine
unfortunately anecdotal evidence isn't enough to cover up the shit that is your OS

I had been using Gentoo for 1.5 years and recently I migrated to Debian because I think that there will be circumstances where I have no time for installation. My Debian rig takes less than 1 hour to install itself to the state of a fully working and configured system.

but im at work officer :(

>I would use it for Photoshop alone but it's just so unreliable now
I've no problem using Photoshop.
No idea what kind of retarded shit you've done to make it 'unreliable'.

As for security,I have not gotten any malware/trojan in the past 10 years. NoScript + UBlock eliminates 99% potential threats. The other 1% is if you pirate suspicious shit(keygens/etc).

If you would bother to look at them, then maybe you'd find some good ones, and AAA titles aren't always that good you know, (COD, anything by Ubisoft)

read the post again, moron. I would use Windows for photoshop, but it's Windows that's unreliable.
>winfag reading comprehension
christ.

This kills the GIMP.

>hipster indie bullshit
That's like 85% of PC gaming in general. 10% is bad console ports, 4% is weeb shit 2d garbage, and 1% is actually decent.

So am I

Can't we all just agree Linux is the best for running servers, and Windows is the best for desktop usage?

Is there literally anything wrong with hipster indie games?

no. Windows is shit. only Sup Forumsfags defend it. even office normies who have to use it for work hate it.

>Windows is the best for desktop usage?

Windows is best for ransomware usage.

Did somebody say PEBKAC?

Only idiots get ransomware.
I've not known a single competent user who got infected.

Also, 99% ransomware targets businesses, aka, places where employees don't give a fuck about security.

Blame their IT/sys admins.

>PEBKAC
this is fucking bullshit. BSODs can happen on a brand new system when you're not even doing anything, just leaving it idle, caused by some update or telemetry-tier process in the background that you had nothing to do with.

"PEBKAC" is just poor deflection from winfags when they have no excuse for shit software practice but still want to defend it for some reason. I can't understand why you would even defend that.

>only Sup Forumsfags defend it
No.
I program for a living at a large corporation and everyone here uses Visual Studio on Windows.
