Lots. Because its still just a hobby for some, not everyone wants to pursue gaming ccompetitions. But you do have remember that time on youtube where every 15-20 year old was trying to submit their cawl of dodee gameplay to get those machinima partnerships for money.
I gave up Video games when I was 18-19 then recently 8 years later my nerd "gf" got me back into them.
I never did grow out of video games, but they don't take up a big chunk of my free time like they used to.
I remember playing JRPGs (20+ hour games) over and over again to find things that I might have missed, and I can't see myself ever doing that anymore.
I still play some new games that get released, but only once.

And? Same thing applies to literally ANY sport in the world. Even some other high traffic careers like acting. But that doesnt necessarily mean its a waste of time for everyone. You get as much out if it as you put in.
