Is it possible to configure an OS so that it's only operable while it has a USB drive plugged in with an extremely long key file on it? Something that can be removed when walking away from a machine and reinserted to resume the session would be ideal.

Would this provide any significant security benefits?

The cheapest 65" IPS monitors I can find around my area are (ordered by cheapness):
* Samsung DM65E (TN panel)
* LG 65SE3B
* LG 65SE3KB
* Benq ST650K
* Philips BDL6520EL

Can't really call myself a hardcore gamer or anything, but are any of these worth it or should I go the meme botnet tier and just buy a 4K SmartTV?

It's a screen for the living room I'm looking for.

For less monies I can get a 4K SmartTV:
Philips 65PUT6121/12

I have the sd card of an old phone that boot loops, can I boot up android in an emulator using the data on the sd card.
(there is no sim card)

if anyone know on how I can do something similar I would greatly appreciate any help!

I haven't updated my gentoo laptop in 98 days because I got preoccupied with something else. Now when I update it I get so many fucking errors and cross dependencies and whatnot. Is there an easy way to start fresh again? Easiest start I can think of would be to mount using the livecd/livedvd, but I can't think of what next.

How come audio levels for different video files vary so much? Like sometimes for one movie I'll have to crank my amp a good portion of the way to max to get a good volume, while another would sound fine at 10-20% Surely it would be easier to encode this stuff around some average volume level that everyone can agree is good wouldn't it? Or is it a problem of my setup not decoding it properly, and it actually should be more even than it is?

I need a youtube script/add-on (FF) which:

1)Auto-stops playback (but not buffering) on all tabs apart from the tab that is in focus.
2)Adjust video size based on playback quality.

I've tried quite a few popular add-ons and scripts but none seem to offer what I need.

For a long time now I've been putting off eyefinity because of one simple reason; Display Port adapters, and the fact that since they're niche, I'm third world, imports are locked down and merchants are crafty, they cost ludicrous amounts of money. Like, over a hundred US dollars.

That is, until I saw this (support.amd.com/en-us/search/faq/170) FAQ page from AMD. Apparently, my R9 270X should support running off 2 DVI monitors and 1 HDMI monitor.

I've got one monitor on HDMI, one DVI, and one running off my iGPU's VGA connection. I've got another DVI monitor (my sister's currently using it), but no extra DVI cable. Running the third monitor off the 270X using a DVI to VGA adapter doesn't work, as expected.

So, I should in theory be able to just swap a monitor with my sister (she's on VGA anyways, and they're both shitty TN garbage), buy a DVI cable, and lo and behold, Eyefinity. What I want to know, however, is what the fuck that "monitors on DVI connection must be identical" means. Do they need to be the same resolution and refresh rate? Do they need to be the exact same model? I can't find any answers online, so I come to you all.

Thanks in advance.

What is happening here? I'm making a game that uses socket.io and webgl. It usually runs at 120hz, but sometimes frames take 16ms or 24ms. What's strange is the inspector seems to show nothing happening during that time. At the start of the frame it seems to be performing game logic and rendering, then towards the end, socket.io events are being handled.

If i have a cpu design in vhdl implementing architecture X, is possible that i can execute a binary of that architecture X
in a computer, like i was executing the binary in that architecture X

Thinking of getting a stick of 4GB extra RAM
Is it okay to mix types or RAM? I have Kingston 8GB HyperX DDR3 in, would it be okay to get a Corsair stick or should I just get a stick of 4GB HyperX?

yes

I have no idea how but you can definitely do that in Linux

I think it would only add security if you encrypted everything

The "most right way" to create a "directory\\subdir" in Windows and C++?

Do SD cards affect a phone's overall performance if it's only used to store files and not as internal storage/apps in general?

I might not get answers here but fuck it, I'm desperate.

I keep getting pop ups for websites like Tradeexchange and Popcash on my browser (I know, too much porn) but the problem is that my computer doesn't detect any malware or adware. I have Malware Bytes premium so it blocks all pop ups but they're so fucking annoying.
MalwareBytes doesn't detect anything
Hitman Pro doesn't detect anything
Norton doesn't detect anything
AdwareCleaner doesn't detect anything.
I don't know what to do. I've checked all the programs installed and they all seem legitimate. The worst part is that these Adware popups are Outgoing requests.
I think I might have a router malware but I don't know how to get rid of it. I've tried everything and they still pop up. They used to pop up on my old computer and now they pop up on my new computer. Same websites too.
I desperately need help.

They open on the same browser or all of them?

Ublock orgin + umatrix

Plex (on my phone) used to go to folder view by default, which I like. I updated it and now it doesn't, no matter how many times I set it to folder view. Is there some way to make it default to folder view that I'm missing?

#include
//...
extern "C" {
system("md " + parent + "\\" + child);
}

I have a shitty Samsung phone with low device space and the default gallery app won't open if there is low space on the device
Is there a replacement for it that just werks?
I don't like having to clean up my cache every week

Why is my laptop locked to 50% of RAM (i have 4gbs)?

Could someone please post that CS learning guide from the archives? It's really comprehensive and I have since lost it. Thanks...

>locked
its not, that's just how much is in use right now.

Android is stored internally, not on the SD card

Needs to be same resolution, same exact timings, same sync polarity. And even then it's not that reliable, I used that sort of setup for a couple years, driver updates would often break it.

They all come from Chrome. Not sure about Firefox. They used to only come out when I opened incognito mode but now they come out when I use normal windows. I'm pretty sure I got the adware by using chrome on my phone since that doesn't have any form of adblock.
I've tried nuking Chrome by deleting everything possible and starting over but they still come up.

Umatrix seems good. I'll try this out and report if it works. Don't know how to use this or if it will permanently remove the adware. I'm getting another computer next week and I don't want that one to get infected as well if it is a router malware.

Is there really any reason to ever build or buy a desktop, laptop, work station, etc. from a boutique PC company like Digital Storm, Origin, Falcon NW, etc.

Only if you're a retard,or they are practically giving away the hardware at cost

You said they are outgoing? So blocking them at the router didn't work?
Sounds like you need a specific remover

Can this Shintel poster please stop with his brand loyalty and posting multiple times every week like jesus christ mate

anyone know how to determine engine/motor rpm using audacity to see the frequency of the sound? ive seen it done before but i cant find a good tutorial on how.

Any downsides to using a m.2 nvme ssd as an OS boot drive?

As long as its more then 20gb

What's the best way to get a cracked copy of windows 7?

I'm trying to fix a friends laptop, but she fucked up her recovery, so now I guess I need a new copy

Even if it has the "This build of windows is not genuine" shit, that would be fine.

Of course you can. But you almost certanly won't. You are basically asking for emulation of an arbitrary design. The closest thing to what you want would be simulating it in Lattice or something.

More expensive per GB than regular SATA for little OS boot time advantage. Total boot time can actually be longer than SATA with the extra time sitting in UEFI while it loads the NVMe driver.

Are you a sonar tech?

I know right clicking one of the buttons to the left of your audio will allow you to switch to frequency spectrum view. Can't tell you much more than that.

what are some good games to play in study breaks?

>have C:\ (boot drive and installed programs) and D:\ (media) on windows 7
Backing up the stuff sitting on D:\ is easy as, some copy-paste stuff, but is there a way to backup the OS and installed programs? It was very difficult to install on this computer (Skylake fucks up the Win7 install, had to tamper with a couple of programs that I won't be able to get for free again, etc.), so if I can just store a backup of the entire partition or something in case of a drive failure, that would be great.

Basically want to be able to just plug the backup drive in and continue without having to re-install OS and programs.

Anyone? I'm too retarded to write a script myself.

Clone it

this

lookup the installgentoo page for Win7

You can image the hard drive, but otherwise no not really.

...

Alright, cheers mates.

"youtube center" (userscript, use the beta one) definitely does number one, and I think number two too but I'm not sure

So there's not a way to emulate an arbitrary design? or just there isn't an available tool?

I started getting screen tearing on literally everything
Messing with vsync doesn't fix it
It should not be a problem with drivers because I didn't updated them in months
Is my GPU shitting itself?

If you're talking about the one on rebeccablacktecharchive I think that's gone

>using outdated drivers

Is there a good battery longevity app for phones?

Got a new phone, don't want it's battery to go to shit because of under/over charging. For example, my thinkpad is set to shutdown at 10% and stop charging at 90%.

I have an S6, but the screen cracked while I was playing air hockey so now it just sits on my desk (I replaced it with a Nexus 6 because it cost less than fixing the screen and turns out to be a much better phone).

What are some ideas to do with it? I've thought about using it as a seedbox (I have access to a number of wifi networks I have no association with) or making it into some kind of smart device for my apartment (I was going to use it to display content on my TV but then realized Samsung killed the HDMI over USB functionality). Any ideas would be welcome, and if you have resources on rooting it that'd be great; I haven't been able to find any (it's the Verizon edition on 6.0.1).

Phones have had that built in for a decade grandma.

I've thought about taking my old phone and running Linux on it (requires rooting obv.) From there you can do a few things; security camera, etc. Anything you can do with a Pi that doesn't use the GPIO headers.

Source? Battery on my old phone went to shit REALLY quick.

>this thread is not kosher or halal, subhumans be warned
that's pretty funny, can that be the new OP?

Looking to build a kodi box/emulator station out of some parts I have around from a few previous builds and upgrades. Any idea of how much ram would be needed? Looking at ddr4 ram prices is killing my boner for the project.

You old phone was likely just a piece of shit in some way, or stupid old. There's literally no reason to worry about over/under charging with smartphones. That said, LiPo batteries do degrade with each charge cycle, but 10% isn't going to make a difference, and your battery is going to last years anyways. I bought a used Nexus 6 eight months ago and the battery will last a full day and a half before going empty. If you really want to baby your battery you'd have to keep it between like 50-80% constantly, which is more of a chore than its worth.

Anyone know of a Sup Forums extension/script that changes replies to comments into a tree-style? (positioning the replies under the comment)

please respond

Explain exactly how that could work if I replied to multiple people. Would you just repeat it for every single post? If I guessed my own post number, would it make an infinite tree?

This isn't leddit, just use 4chanx if you want to follow reply trees.

my fucking god, windows is truly aids

i tried to clean a pen disk using diskpart and i accidentally cleaned (thankfully i didn't used clean all) a NTFS disk with important files.

Can i painlessly recover the files?I just had a brain-fart and selected the wrong disk.

Multiple replies could mean the post would appear under multiple comments, yes. Self-quotes would be disabled obviously.
I thought it was a neat idea and i think i saw a screenshot of it somewhere but now I'm not 100% sure.

>Multiple replies could mean the post would appear under multiple comments, yes
That might work fine for some threads, but you can agree that for some threads you'd be extending a 300 post thread into a 1200+ post thread tree.

Should I go for Computer Science or Computer Engineering?
I just want to type stuff and program and what not.

Engineering

Anyone?

Fair point.

Can I ask why?

Dunno
Try running compatibility mode
If it doesn't work try a program to limit framerate or something like that

nobody replied to me in the last thread
what do I do with my raspi besides retropie/kodi/pi-hole/znc?

>try a program to limit framerate or something like that
Is there a good program that can do that?

I never used one but they exist

Why is Sup Forums Technology?

I have a quesiton.
T9600 and P8600 have a FSB of 1066MHz, this means RAM will run at 1066MHz tops.
But if i upgraded it to a X9100 which has a 1600MHz FSB that means RAM will run at 1600MHz?

No idea regarding ram usage for kodi?

Which Raid setup is best for externals that are larger than the internal that they are backing up? Is there a way to partition off the excess space and use that as excess space for games that I don't play as often/at all?

This has been driving me crazy Sup Forums so please help me out. There's a W10 release that I really like, but the maker refuses to have it contain the English Language Pack so it's always in French.
I don't want to access Windows Update after formatting since I disable it as soon as I finish formatting, THEN I plug the Ethernet cable and resume work.
So here're my options :
1 - Inject the French release with the English Language Pack
2 - Install the language pack AFTER formatting WITHOUT connecting to the internet and using Windows Update
Which one is easier ? If 1 then what tool to use ? If 2 then where do I get the Language Packs ?
Thanks in advance for helping me !

RAID is not a backup - What makes a backup, a backup? Does using an external or an extra internal drive as a backup drive using software that periodically creates images make it a backup?

Does anyone know a free, anonymous file upload website?

Hi.
Go to hell.

Umatrix didn't work, nor does it tell me where the pop ups are coming from. Can anyone else offer some ideas? I have no clue how this is even happening.

p-pls respond ;_;

>hardcore gamer

Found the consolefag.

HAH

My self-built computer doesn't turn off. Whenever it should normally turn off, I can hear the hard drives and such stop spinning and the screen turns off, but the lights and fans and such stay on until I hold the power button.
At first I thought it was just linux being goofy with my hardware, but I reinstalled windows and it does the same shit there.
Why does it do this, and how can I fix it?

What's a decent mouse that costs less than $30?
