0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine.
1) Use a live image and to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS.

Wizards assemble !

Advanced users of GNU/Linux (and I mean advanced), remember to try Source Mage GNU/Linux. True source-based distribution, and (in contrast with Gentoo and Arch) is:
Free from obfuscated and pre-configured code.
Fully committed to GPL, uses only free software (as in freedom) in their main package.
With even the documentation licensed as FDL.
Without 3rd party patches, sensible defaults or masked packages.
Doesn't need obfuscated python libraries, only bash.
Use clean dependencies as they came from upstream developers, which by the same provides instant updates.
Can heal broken installs.
Can also use flags.

Do you like Arch Linux's AUR? Do you like Gentoo's portage (or ports-like) package manager? With SMGL's "sorcery" you get all that. Making new spells (packages) not found in the grimoire (repository) is easy sourcemage.org/Spell/Book

Bash hackers welcome! Come and join sourcemage.org/

If I export variables in my .bashrc, they won't be available for use in my Bash scripts, right? Because .bashrc is for interactive shells only, as in, when I start my terminal emulator?

I gotta have my China.

Is putting Parabola with OpenRC instead of systemd on my T400 a one way ticket to user hell? I want muh absolute freedumbs but it feels like managing a system with so little support because of proprietary drivers would be even more difficult than Linux from Scratch

You are right
But if you start the script from the shell they are going to inherit the env

Found this

appimage.org/

It's an amazing piece of technology. To make the application portable, it is embed into its own virtual file system, the "image", which includes the application but also all the required dependencies. Download once, run everywhere! AppImage has been endorsed by Linus Torvalds himself.

Maybe there still hope for gnu+linux on desktop, after all.

I need a Just Werks™ linux distro. Tired of windows and bullshit I'm just going to banish it except for gaymen.

>and contains all of the required library files

And this is where he is dead wrong. I tried these appimage things and had to install a few stuff to make them run. However this might not be an issue if you have a complete desktop metapackage installed.

debian with xfce, lxde or mate desktop

>OpenRC
its a convenient alternative to systemD.

Stop spamming this shit faggot. Read the global rules.

I want to virtualize Windows 10 on GNU/Linux. Is there any way I can have Windows use my RAM dynamically as opposed to giving the VM a fixed amount of memory?
Also, fuck you Hiroshima Nagasaki for making me fill out two captchas. I received someone else's ban again.

>AppImage has been endorsed by Linus Torvalds himself
Who?

Fuck stallman and fuck linux, piece of shit doesn't work and stallman is a faggot.

Linux has no games or software, waste of time

...

It does suck and can't do anything windows already can do

good, pack your shit then and kill yourself back to Sup Forums

No you kill yourself you beta loser, your OS has no games and will never go past 2% usage. Fucking die already.

>Is there any way I can have Windows use my RAM dynamically as opposed to giving the VM a fixed amount of memory?

No. Every VM software I encountered so far requires the ram-to-assign as a startup parameter.

TIL: Updating the kernel makes you unable to detect external devices until reboot.

Seriously, I had no idea it was like that and sperged for a good half our before finding the solution.

Can i run 64 bit mint on my x220 thinkpad? I am using 32 bit, but some things can not be installed does it matter in the long run?
This pc is mainly used for business and programming.

>Updating the kernel makes you unable to detect external devices until reboot.
Ive never had this issue before.

Systemd is free software, therefore it can be used with Parabola.

CLOSED. CANT REPRODUCE

Whats a good (and lightweight) solution to monitor changes of a directory structure?

>lightweight
why does everyone want the lightweight
its current year, what are you running, c64s?

>yes, hello, of course I like spending extra money on my computing hardware just so I can run software which adds nothing to my productivity

There is no place for consumerism here.

Can you be more specific?

Go back to sucking black dicks like the leftist your are

>Can you be more specific?
I want to monitor any changes of subdirectories or included files for a specific directory.

@60992695
enjoy your botnet

Ok, but why?

AppImage are botnets.
They send telemetry data to (((improve them))).
Pure faggotry, don't even work half the time.

So I just downloaded and installed Ubuntu. It feels so fucking sluggish. I'm using
>R7 1700
>GTX 1070
>Crucial SSD
Am I missing some additional software?
Why do windows lag when I drag them around as if my CPU was at 99% load?

Looks like inotify is what you need?

probably wrong drivers

I bet you love watching tyrone fuck your wife, linux is anti white

Stallman's not gay. He didn't even know that parrot was sexing his hand.

I haven't even installed any drivers desu.

>liking cuckold
>not letting your wife peg you
enjoy your collapsing marriage

here have some smug OC

close enough

This is perfect, thank you.

Pegging is for degenerates because you're aroused by a rubber dick in your ass, I bet the strapon is a big black dildo, perfect for a cucked liberal like you.

Can someone answer my question?

>I bet the strapon is a big black dildo
nah big pinky, but if this user's goes well then maybe i'll make her own futa dick.

im worried about you.

What's the problem here?
I can type:
java -Xmx1000m -jar KanjiTomo.jar -run

into terminal and it'll run the program, but when I try to run the script it won't work.

>linux

you blind
just delete whatever character is after /bin/sh

Read the error.

Is antergos really that good that is on the just werks tier? I've always been skeptical of arch&friends.

Why the fuck does debian doesn't let me choose the spain locale if my system language is english. Fuck debian man I have never even installed it just gives me problems fuck.

Your script has the botnet. You can delet it by running: sed 's/\r//g' -i yourscript

it's a white man's OS™

but i'm white user-san

>spanish locale

...

Hey /fglt/, what are some cool themes for KDE?

Going to install source mage today

will linux ever be able to play videos without stuttering?

Hopefully not, playing videos is a task for userspace programs.

Which distro?
Most fist to when you update the kernel it delete all the modules(drivers) of the old version,, so until you reboot you will only have the kernel that was already running but only with the driver's that were already loaded

>without stuttering
I had no idea Linux was able to play videos in the first place.

Is this the power of gnulinux?

Debian old-stable.

Err, might be old-old-stable. I haven't been taking care of the thing.

Not him, but I'm on Arch Linux.

how is it that a rolling distro like arch can maintain the nvidia proprietary drivers but opensuse rolling can't?

Result of 'ip addr'
Post it

Although "GNU/Linux" /ɡəˈnuː slæʃ ˈlJnəks/ is often pronounced without the slash, Stallman recommends explicitly saying the word "slash" or "plus" in order to avoid the mistaken suggestion that the Linux kernel itself is a GNU package,[55] as is the case with GNU Linux-libre.

The expression “the Linux kernel” can easily be misunderstood as meaning “the kernel of Linux” and implying that Linux must be more than a kernel. You can avoid the possibility of this misunderstanding by saying or writing “the kernel, Linux” or “Linux, the kernel”.

>1: lo: [...]

Just the loopback interface.

kek good luck
Are they broadcom?

that happens when you don't update your operating system, not really GNU/Linux related

Intel if memory serves. Has been working for years.

Full disclosure: This is after a certain someone pulled the power to this machine by turning off the UPS it was connected to in an attempt to troubleshoot Internet connectivity issues. I suspect something didn't survive.
