1st for Luigi.

Okay so a few days ago it was super hot and my PC crashed, not blue screen but actual black screen with horrible repeating sounds crashed. When it restarted it went to a black screen after "Starting windows". So I decided it was time to reinstall windows 7 anyway and I reinstalled from scratch, formatted my drive and everything.

She started up okay and I got into windows, started installing my drivers. The graphics driver needed a restart so I restarted and I got a black screen again.

So I reinstalled again, installed my ethernet drivers, restarted, it was fine, restarted again for shits, it was fine. Reinstalled my graphics driver. Black screen again.

So TODAY I stole my dad's graphics card, put that in, windows starts okay. Install the graphics drivers, restart it, Windows is okay and will even do all the fancy aero bits. Put my card back in, fucking nothing again.

Is my card fucked?

Roommate deleted my browsing data from Chrome, including passwords. Any way to recover them?

So just why DID Intel name their Core series of processors "i3/i5/i7" anyway?

>Is my card fucked?
Clearly

They're naming schemes, i3 is more low end, i5 is mid range, and i7 is high end. It would be easier to remember i3 than the specific processor codename.

I have a RX 470. Should I bother trying to mine anything, regarding cryptocurrency?

Right, I get that bit, but why choose those particular numbers? Aren't these for 4/6/8-core procs?

iFor, iSex, and iAte were already trademarked by Apple. Intel just didn't want the hassle of fighting in the courts.

>Aren't these for 4/6/8-core procs?
Nope. 6 and 8 core are reserved for HEDT(at least until coffee lake). There are even dual-core i7s if you include mobile chips.

KEK, ok that was a good one!

Which would mean they're all 4-core, I guess. Thus the number in the name is... just a brand? That'd make some kind of sense, if I was a marketing faggot.

That's really all it is, a way to explain to normies what the differences are without making them feel dumb.

Yeah, it's just a marketing gimmick

I have them in a text file around here somewhere.
brb.

Sometimes when I click on an image or something on Sup Forums, and then go to post something, the previous image i clicked on shows up.

I have tried to duplicate the problem, but it seems pretty intermittent.

What is causing this?

For desktop, i3s are dualcores with HT, i5s are quadcores without HT and i7s are quadcores with HT and up(at least until SkylakeX and i9s). This will(probably) change with coffee lake, which is supposed to include hexacores in the mainstream lineup. For mobile they're all dualcores unless the name has Q in it.

...

test

So I guess
i3=2-core "+1"
i5=4-core "+1"
i7=4-core "+3"
or something like that?

Does anyone still use Firefox?

It's my default browser, but I use it vanilla. What are some good extensions for it, especially relating to Sup Forums?

I use Sup Forums x v2 by loadletter. I never liked v3 and this dude has kept v2 updated this entire time.

Oh wait, HT, so
i3=2-core, 4-thread
i5=4-core, 4-thread
i7=4-core, 8-thread?
I guess using i3/i5/i7 is a bit simpler than something more accurate would be.

What pair of Shure SE should I get? Leaning on the 215's right now because from what I've read so far the rest aren't worth the price they're sold at. Other IEM recommendations welcome, I'm new to this world.

I bought 220's back in like '06.They still work flawlessly through heavy daily use

There's a headphone general around here somewhere, I'd recommend going there to ask.

Is there a reason to use 32bit versions of software when there's a 64bit one available?

Google really doesn't want you to use Android Pay when you're rooted.

What malicious things can I do with it if I am rooted? Is there any record of someone faking payments or something?

Uses less resources so it doesn't drag your system down too much, but it also means the program doesn't perform as well.

Thats just big boogie man google talking nonsense

How comes most scripting languages are dynamically typed? Pure lazyness at the part of the inventor?

Heya Sup Forums,

I have a pair of Logitch Z313 speakers that have been lasting me almost 7-8 years and they're finally starting to die out.

Any recommendation for a good pair of speakers under 100 shekels that are good for vidya/music?

So if you were a betting man, you'd say it was safe to replace it?

Yes

Recommend me an email service for registering to stuff I don't want the jewgle botnet to know about, please.

Pornsites, dragon dildo purchases, pixiv, Reddit, etc.

Cheers, it's just so bizarre it would work without drivers but as soon as the drivers came in. I tried two different drivers but neither of them got any ground. The best I ever got was a cursor, once.

gib best malware deleter pls

The German government seized the server a while back. Not sure if it's so safe anymore after that.

They have a server full of encrypted data.

is it really best to install windows OS and *all* programs on ssd? Even browsers with constant writes to the ssd for caching purposes?

I think skype does a lot of writes, too. I used skype for about 16 hours a day, 10 for work, the rest for chatting/gaming/streaming. Bad idea to put install it on SSD?

It' not like I want to sell homemade cp or use it as an ISIS dead drop. I just don't want furries rimming in my Youtube suggestions.

Just read about it, they got one week's worth of data from one HDD because of a fake bomb threat.

Alright i have a old nameless PCI ethernet card.

Cant i just look for the drivers using the realtek chip name?
>RTL8139B

I cant find anything with the card name.

You can write 100gb of data per day and the ssd will last over 10 YEARS.Most modern ssd's last over 2,000,000,000,000 bytes before showing write errors.

Any script to randomize name for picture?

> 2,000,000,000,000
You mean 2,000,000,000,000,000

Looking up the chipset name is always a better idea. Especially with the 8139 which is generic as fuck.

I am trying to use Source Filmmaker. It has a hard memory cap of 3GB, because it is a 32 bit program. This would be fine, if it weren't for the fact that whenever I browse models to add to my scene, each model I click on gets loaded and rendered by SFM in a small preview box. The problem is that the memory used for this rendering seems to never /go away/, thus causing memory usage to go up and up until the program crashes if I browse too many models without restarting the program.

I really have no idea where to turn but here, /sqt/. Does ANYONE know how to unload models you browsed but aren't using?

Drop the whole idea of SSD write wear. That was only a thing that applied to the first couple of generations. Any SSD made in the past 5 years don't give a fuck.

Yeah,i have found 30 different clones so far but i cant find the drivers of any of them.

Something like that, but with a lot of exceptions. Most laptop i7's are 2 core/4 thread.

thank

is it possible to change wattman settings with .bat file or some other way, to manipulate presets?
i.e. i want to change between different configs without having to manually reset everything.

Im creating a rough outline of what I want my homelab to have, i know for sure that it will contain a hypervisor and a NAS. I was curious if I could/should use the NAS to store my VM's as well. Of course the two would be connected via a 10gigabit ethernet

programming noob here

Why isn't there a perfect IDE for C that prevents you from compiling whenever your program contains a bug? And can you give me an example of a bug that's impossible to detect by the IDE?

How do I prevent a program from coming up in UserAssistView

How do i do watermarking that isnt just in the headers,or a physical visual mark in the media(such as a website url or an id string)

How do you people deal with unoptimized shit and bad ports?

I just might be retarded but...

> ls ~/.config/systemd/user/aa.service
/home/jwm/.config/systemd/user/aa.service

> systemctl --user start aa.service
Failed to start aa.service: Unit aa.service not found.

where did I screw up?

anyway to set a specific p-state for an application?

Tiny color shift for pixels/image data
Tiny frequency modulation for sound

that application looks like cancer

system management for gamer 12 year olds

What software could achieve this?

Would rebuilding a 9 cell laptop battery that was originally rated for 6600mAh using high quality ~3000mAh cells quadruple its' battery life? Sounds too good to be true, that's why I'm asking.

áaaamy keyboard an only type aeertain letters fior some reason and beliees tat sift is always being eld down 9i meant trl0i ant bakspae wat te fuk ae i done? i used on sreen keyboard but its fuked for some reason Help PLEASE

should i sell my r9 fury, rx470, and 2x r9 270s?

it seems like te keybinds on my keyboard are jukmbkled up but i dont know wy tis as appebed also fuks W7 ob sreen keyboard?

p-states get set by gpu utilization, so no, you cant force p-states. bios handles that.
however you can make custom frequency shortcuts with nvidiainspector. just use that before you open the program then reset after exiting.
if you wanna do it hassle free write a simple batch script to do it for you.

How did Google map the whole world? Did they drive every road?

I understand why you can't realistically edit an existing block in a cryptocurrency blockchain to insert a fake transaction, but why can't I run a mining node and insert a fake transaction in the current block? Obviously I have no way of predicting how long it'd take until I'm the "winner" of a block, but if I have a sufficiently powerful rig and I just keep mining away inserting my fake transaction with every attempt, I'll eventually solve the block first and then wouldn't my fake transaction enter the blockchain?

>got a raspberry pi to run cron jobs (python)
>don't want a desktop environment on it to keep it minimal
>still need to change the scripts frequently

how do i set this up? I use Windows on my desktops

Ideally I would edit in Notepad++ on Windows, then hit go on the raspberry

furtger info: its a orsair k70 'engeane' most roads yes but trere are only sateillates for some look up gojgle map ar, also smallr ameera for waljkways and su

Because you are only 1 of many. Now if you got 500 inserts of that tainted block,it may take in the blockchain.
Look up bitcoin vulnerabilities and lok at the version error that happens years ago where the new version mathed wrong and created 2 blockchains.

What's the difference between the small and big versions of the same model graphics cards apart from form factor?

How do you test for a MITM scenario? Am a noob, go easy.

>Now if you got 500 inserts of that tainted block,it may take in the blockchain.

I don't think that's how it works, at least with ethereum. You mine by randomly trying different nonce values in the block until it hashes equal to or below a given value based on the block's assigned difficulty. First miner to get lucky solves the block. In the case of multiple solutions being discovered, the block with the lowest hash wins.

I'm not seeing anything about a consensus on the validity of the transactions in the winning block.

Nobody knows?

Best way to transfer lots of files from a windows to a linux computer? I was thinking of using an ethernet cable, but windows is an absolute pain in the ass to share stuff with.

well that kinda sucks

loading other applications brought the gpu into a higher p-state, even tho the game was suffering in a lower p-state.

Are the old and new cells the same chemistry?
Do they have the same charging profile?
What about voltages?
These are the important things.
It's not just more battery = more better.

if you use legitimately higher capacity cells, the total capacity of the battery will be more than before, yes

i say "legitimately", because there are shitty chinese cells which aren't actually the capacity they say they are
get some nice panasonic or samsung cells

Oftentimes the short ones get all their power from the motherboard and don't need the one or two PCI cables like the long ones typically do.

Thanks, I'll have to figure these things out. I thought it was as simple as putting new 18650 cells in.

>These are the important things.
maybe if he was replacing a li-ion with something that wasn't li-ion, which i doubt

probably just swapping out 18650 cells with other 18650 cells, which is just a simple 'drop-in' job, as they are standardized

This is surprising because that would mean around 12 hours of battery life on a 10 year old gaming laptop

But do you lose anything in terms of performance or temperature management?

>R5 1600
>CPU usage can dip from %40-50 usage to the 20s momentarily when I am fucking around with intensive mods in GTA V like the mini nuke
>CPU speed doesn't change
Is this normal? Is it my hardware or the game?

I get an "unexpected '{'" error but I don't see anything wrong with the line.

halp Sup Forums

you sure the original battery is only 6600mAh with 9 cells? that's only 733mAh per cell, which is pretty low

but yea, higher mAh cells should get you more time, though how much more depends on a few things, probably most importantly is the discharge curve of the cell you're getting, and the minimum voltage needed by the device
notice in the picture that the voltage level steadily drops the longer they discharge, if the laptop needs a high voltage to operate, you might not make the most of the cells

Anyone know a good product to put under my external hard drive to stop the humming vibration on my desk?

any peice of foam
You can get a square of foam from a sewing store for a few cents

Alright, got it. Yeah, it is kind of low, but that's what is written on the sticker on the battery.

interesting
could be in for a nice jump in operating time with some panasonic 3400mAh cells in there

How do i get a better ratio on private trackers? Seems like nothing i download seeds, i get that they can see the time active but that doesnt help with ratios
