Ok, so I recently got an NVMe SSD and I ran Samsung Magicians performance benchmark and it's running slower than my sata SSD. Is there any way I can speed it up or is it something with my motherboard that's slowing it down? Motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-990FX. Any help is appreciated.

Can I fetch a better monitor than my current Dell U2412M for about 200$? Bought it like 5 years ago and it still works fine, but maybe there are much better options available now in that price range? I have zero knowledge about monitors.

My uncle gave this to me, but I'm not sure I'll get much use out of it. Is there anything practical that can be done with such an old card? Or am I better off just selling it / recycling it?

worthless in a.d. 2017
iGPUs in Babby Lake are faster than this piece of trash.

Baller card back in 2010, but it's pretty slow these days. Modern-day $150 cards beat the hell out of it and use half the power. No resale value.

I still have mine sitting in my box of spare parts. You might as well put it there, in case you need an extra part for testing, or if your card dies and you need anything that runs for a week until your new card arrives, or whatever.

half decent mouse for under £30?

i play some games but i dont care that much, but i have very large palms and quite big fingers

dont wanna pay £60 for a Zowie or Deathadder

I have a Dell Gaming S2716DG and it's amazing. It's over $500 but if you save your money it's worth it. But if you don't want to wait just get a monitor with a good resolution and with high Hertz. Anything over 60hz is gonna be pricey though. At least from what I've seen.

Thought as much, oh well. Into storage it goes then. Thank you kindly for the answers.

My money situation is pretty bad these past years so I thought I can get away with selling my current monitor and buying a better one if it's possible. But thanks anyway.

Reposting from /fglt/.
Running mint cinnamon 18, fully updated. i3-5010u, 850 Evo, 12 GB ram. Why does my screen blank out for a couple seconds when I login? Is it because I have an encrypted home?

I got a rev 2.0 Gigabyte ga-x58a-ud3r and when I installed a RAID card, LSI Megaraid 9240-4i My pc wont boot. It just says
>no physical memory is available at the location required for the windows boot manager

The BIOS has the SSD as the main boot device, it sees the raid card, its set to a lower priority.

Soon as I remove the card it works fine, but not with it.

What's going on here?

What's the most compatible and best gtx 1080 card I can get for my pc I'm going to build? Idk if I can change the 1070 for a 1080 and it be compatible with this rig. My friend made me this list. But tell me the best gtx 1080 card name for gaming I can use for this rig.

GTX 1080 Would work with it as long as you can afford it then it's all good.

Run the latest drivers

Take the card back, It's obviously falty

Quick tip, Don't buy anything Razer.

Also you should be able to find some cheap as fuck mouses on amazon by searching for 'gaming mice', I've seen some decent looking ones for as low as $8.

How vulnerable is a Windows 10 ssh private server?

I think you can get some SteelSeries mice for about 30 pounds.

I'm planning to build a PC with an RX 570 (4gb only because it's cheap from where I live). The build is really over my budget so I'm planning to use my old 1366x768 60hz monitor (9ms response time) for the meantime. When I buy a monitor, should I consider a freesync one or just a regular 1080p monitor for more than half the price of a freesync one? I'm going to use it for current gen games (BF1,R6, Battlefront 2), video editing and some engineering applications. Suggest monitors under $160 if you can!

Why buy a monitor new?

so do I

No proprietary drivers needed according to the driver manager, using igpu. Also using latest kernel

Not sure where you want to buy one but I found one on Amazon for $199.99. Just search "LG 32MA68HY-P"

My homepage was replaced with hulusearch. What the fuck? This happened after I installed fucking MS Paint XP. Afterwards I installed Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner but neither of them detected anything other than pic related, what the hell do I do now?

Is using a VM to store and access porn a good idea?

reformat and purge is always an option.

True, I keep that in mind, but I'd prefer it to be a last resort. Doing it is always such a hassle.

clean it from your browser settings.

open about:config and check values there. Also check your browser shortcuts on your desktop, start menu and quick start bar if it wasn1t added to the command line as a parameter.

Computer went kablooey, had this in it (bought it in 2012), got good use out of it. Still works as far as I can tell. Is it worth anything? Is eBay a good place to sell it?

What is a good 7 inch 1080p native resolution monitor?
I keep finding them in 480p, but 1080p screens exist for phones and tablets.

How do I repartition my hdd if I don't have enough room on any partition to fit all my important files?

>LG 32MA68HY-P
32" with 1080p = isn't it a huge overkill inch-wise?
And only 60hz. I was hoping to find something higher than 60hz if possible.

best alternative?

Partition magic.

He already said partition magic
Buy an external HDD already. So damn useful

Acer GN246HL
144hz
$199.99

amazon.com/Acer-GN246HL-Bbid-24-Inch-Display/dp/B00KO4518I/

reformat & reinstall, it's the best option

My rich aunt bought me a laptop
It's fucking cool as shit
But I can't be seen with this on the front cover.
Put a sticker on it or paint it matte black?

Never had a TN panel before. How bad it is compared to the IPS?

Painting is risky and easy to fuck up.

remove it (carefully with a box cutter maybe?) then put a sticker in its place.

I ran out of Display port and HDMI out ports on my gpu but need to connect to another monitor that only has display and HDMI in. I only have a free DVI-D port open. Can I use a DVI-D to HDMI port and still get a high resolution? The monitor is 1440p.

Are there any downside to using a converter?

wtf is chain voting ? using one 'fale' ballot by multiple people ?

I cannot adjust headphones volume in windows when I connect them directly to case. Is this normal?

When will GPU prices go back to normal?

Got a new laptop and it will not read my external hard drive. Already trued everything from makeuseof.com/tag/external-drive-not-recognized-this-is-how-to-fix-it-in-windows/

Any idea what is happening and how to fix it?

found it
nyvv.org/doc/TearOffBallotStubs.pdf

Are you using windows 10?

Have you formatted it yet in disk management?

It isn't reading in disk driver. It shows up in my old computer, and I don't want to format it becasue it has a fuck ton of stuff on there

Yes. I'm able to adjust volume in youtube and games but adjusting volume in Windows just doesn't work. 0 is complete silence and there's no difference between 1 and 100.

dual link can go up to 2560 × 1600

your card is probably dual link

It's a used one from a friend that worked in in two other rigs.

With a WD Red in a Desktop, should I set this to "Never"?

I've heard that it's better to just leave a Hard Drive running indefinitely but I'm not sure.

Is the M.2 socket fine for a boot drive? I remember deciding against using it for that a few years ago but don't remember what my reasoning was.

New to linux, running debian.
How do I install something without an internet connection?
I'm trying to install my wifidriver from a usb hard drive and its just not letting me.

Did you install any drivers you may need? I'm assuming you're using USB so you may need to get a driver for it.

When you click on the volume button on the bottom right there should be an arrow pointing up. Click on that and you should be able to select the correct playback device.

When I try to boot up my computer first it takes a while to start up, then when it automatically restarts I get an error saying "Previous attempts at booting this system have failed at checkpoint [0019]", then it boots up normally this time.

Holy shit I am dumb. Let me do that real quick

>When you click on the volume button on the bottom right there should be an arrow pointing up. Click on that and you should be able to select the correct playback device.

I have Realtek HD Audio and NVIDIA HD Audio there. When I connect headphones to monitor then I can adjust the volume just right, but when I connect them to case and then choose Realtek HD Audio I simply can't adjust volume.

reset cmos

So you're trying to use Realtek HD Audio correct? Try righ clicking the volume button, click on playback devices, then set the one you want to use as default by right clicking it. You may also want to disable any you aren't using because they might interfere with each other. My monitor has audio ports that I don't use & I just disable them 2bh.

ur a;l; fsidfns;dfkg

I have it set to Realtek HD Audio + now I disabled Nvidia HD Audio but I still can't adjust volume in windows. I guess I'll just get headphone amp or connect them to monitor.

i have 2 drives
drive 1 is my windows drive fully encrypted with veracrypt,

drive 2 has nothing on it,

i want to install debian on drive 2, do i need to decrypt the first drive first? or will i be able to just boot to the second drive by press f2 or whatever the button is and selecting drive 2

bassicilly wondering is the veracrypt bootloader going to get in the way of a second os installation on a different drive

Yeah I don't blame you. I got a USB DAC because I was having playback issues myself. It'll make your music sound better too.

what your a niggre?

i can't get my gas stove to ignite/keep burning for more than a couple seconds, what's different today is the weather is very warm compared to normal

i invented the stupid questions thread 7 years ago you fucking faggots

you can download invidivual .deb packages from packages.debian.org and install them manually with
dpkg -i filename.deb

It will alert you about any missing dependencies, you can grab those manually and install them later.

Abandon all ye hope if you have intel wifi crap.

>Abandon all ye hope if you have intel wifi crap.
I have a Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300.
How bad is it going to be?

Hey guys ive been using veracrypt for awhile now, I was wondering why its so slow, it takes me an couple hours to encrypt and decrypt my drive everytime i go to use it.

i know security is important but its a huge burdance to have to wait so long every time i want to use my computer. is there any thing to make this process faster?

pic related

>What's the most compatible and best gtx 1080 card I can get for my pc I'm going to build?
Go to /pcbg/ and ask for advice, you can do much better than that. And don't get a fucking i5 in 2017, there's literally no reason to get 6600k over an R5.

Why is my home network fucked?

ISP: Telekom (Germany)
Modem/Router: TP-Link WD9980
Switch: Netgear GB unmanaged

Randomly during the day, sometimes for a few minutes - sometimes for hours (before bed at night until morning) my network shits the bed.

The internet stops working for all devices, my routers webpage even becomes unaccessible.

Via Wifi, LAN - on PC or Phone - the intetnet goes down and i cant even access the router page.

This never used to happen, but since a month or so, its happening every day.

I thought it was my router, so i got a new one (same model) sent to me and its still fucking up straight away.

Ive turned off all the other routers in the house (access points) and my proxy server (rpi). The router hasnt had a single setting modified - only the wifi passwords were changed.

Its using the standard dhcp and dns, i just plugged zhe new router in - used the quick setup and selected "VDSL_Telekom" and gave it my username and password.

What the shit? Are these routers just complete dogshit? J thought it was an isp fuckup maybe, but that doesnt explain why i cant access the router admin page (192.168.1.1)..

What should i do g? Just bite the bullet and buy a Fritzbox? Or is there a fifferemt VDSL router i should try (mimd you the choices for VDSL routers is not that big).

If my gpu heats up to 80c when playing GTAV is that a problem with regards to my computers lifespan?

If your PC has a good airflow it shouldn't be a problem, that being said if it had a good airflow you GPU wouldn't get to 80c.

Not really your PC as a whole. But your GPU won't last as long if you keep it that hot. Just get a fan controller & crank that shit up.

Oh, I have a similar question, although I run a pretty old card Sapphire 6850 (VaporX). My temps during gaming sit at about 70-75c and GPU fan runs at 50-55% speed. Is this an okay temp for an old card?

loaded optimized default and now my windows isnt working. updated bios. heres my manual download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-970a-ds3p_v.2.x_e.pdf

I think it's fine as long as it's not hitting 80 or 90 for a long time & your frames per second are good. Mine hangs around 65 - 70 during gameplay but mines a bit newer.

I want to have a laptop free from the botnet.
If I use my home network (which has my desktop, which is very much a part of the bot net) will this defeat the whole purpose?

wat settings have to be enabled. will pay

Where can i buy a virtual mobile phone number to use it for 2FA? I dont care about anonymity but it should be pretty secure and reliable service.

I'm going to help my friend with social media marketing for his service business. What tools should I be using? Is HootSuite still the best management tool? Any advice before I start? I'm thinking of using Instagram and Facebook to show off his work and schedule a ton of posts in advance so there is an automated steady dripping of content.

What makes a good hashtag? (It's a local service business).

How do i type faster?
My current max is 83 WPM but its still too slow. any tips?

Just got a new phone, Honor 5C.
How do I fix this crap and manage to uninstall all those shitty chink apps that came preinstalled?
Do I have to root my phone to do that? Is there alot to fuckup when rooting?
Should I install a launcher before or after rooting?
