I get so annoyed by that crap, especially when moderators lock a topic for no reason.

this

These kinds of "helpers" are truly the worst

what does the original post have to do with video games?

literally had this exact thought the other day

they have a copy paste message for when they first respond

do they get paid?

god i hope not

if you go to a forum that enforces this rule: stop going, the mods are fags
lucklily, the only traditional phpbb forum I visit regularly doesn't care one bit, you'll find threads from like 2004 get bumped on occasion and everyone has a good laugh when someone replies to a 12+yo post like it was recent instead of bitching

it's like they're paid to make people lose patience

Your post wasn't good enough to warrant multiquoting. Abuse of the quote feature is against site policies. I'm locking this thread.

>wasnt good enough

on forums where this happens, thats how you know you shouldn't return

>tfw haven't had to deal with this shit in 3 years since buying a Mac
Linux isn't worth it. Windows is a joke. You know what to do.

IF you want to do tech support you have to deal with repetitive questions. You shouldn't be a mod of an irc channel or anything like that unless you are ready to answer the same questions eternally.

>find post with exactly the same problem you have

Forum moderators are fucking faggots.

>when you pm them and they actually respond

>known solutions for your problem are x y z

forbes?

Forum moderators are pretty much the lowest form of life, right down there with rapists and pedos

Most amazing feel ever
>guitar song on YouTube
>in description he says email him for his tabs
>video is like 5-7 years old
>email him
>he actually fucking sends it to me like 3 weeks later

whose dumb fucking retarded idea was it for archive to not only obey robots.txt, but fucking retroactively so if some cocksock bought a domain and blocked it you cant even look up old unblocked data. fucking retards i swear.

fucking this

what's the deal with forum mods and necrobumping anyway? It never seemed like a big deal to me
especially if they don't want you making new threads

>Search ignores words less than 4 characters
>Have a problem with vga output resolution

>asked for help for an issue

why are you so mad? I asked for help and got trolled, what makes you think I want to help others and post the answer that I worked hard myself for? you must be a moron and a leecher to think I would make your life easier when you made mine harder

The only time I've been interested in webdev was when a porn pop-under made a fake windows notification appear and I was intensely curious how they did that.

On some forums, like the arch forum, it doesn't make sense to necrobump since its a rolling release, so the system most likely changed within year or two to a point where old answers aren't really that useful and only create confusion.

Thats like posting about boot error in a 2006 SysvInit thread

this desu

Maybe it's because I have js disabled most of the time but the official MS help forums have the shittest layout I've seen. The 'solution' is displayed at least three times and it's usually 'try uninstalling and reinstalling'

arch linux: the experience

>You filled out the registration form too quickly, out system things you're a bot. Please try again in 15 minutes

To be fair, 9/10 times some idiot bumps a six year old thread to say "I'm having this problem too", they clearly aren't, because the original issue has been patched.

I maintain an open source product and I often see people replying to three year old closed issues saying "I'm having this issue". And you say "are you running a three year old version?", and they say "no". And then you point out that the thread they are on detailed a patch that was released, and an OP that confirmed it fixed the issue. So no you do not "also have the problem".

That's stupid.

It may have been a regression in one of the versions that the OP skipped from then until the latest version.

>Microsoft Answers
>Someone asks about a well known bug in Windows 10
>First answer is a "marked correct" response from an MVP saying "please run sfc /scannow"
>Multiple people chime in confirming issue
>Provide steps to replicate with 100% accuracy
>MVP post is, due to forum design, shown to you again every 2-3 posts
>Angry people going "sfc has never fucking fixed anything, can you please provide another response"
>Response from MVP saying "thank you for your confirmation issue is resolved"
>Eight fucking months worth of "isn't this fixed yet? What are you doing Microsoft???"
>eight month old MVp response keeps getting interspersed with replies

>>You have 3 more tries to login

Actually I had this a few weeks ago with a website

>You have typed your password wrong once. Your account is now locked for 24 hours

Actually Internet Archive controversially decided to stop giving a fuck quite recently.

The first issue was "does not compile with a really old version of gcc from CentOS4" and the new issue was "does not compile against OpenSSL1.something".

The error output was totally different obviously but these guys just go "oh compile error, it's the same problem".

finally an excuse to post this

Would be handy to have a file of QnA pasta.

Sounds like the only legit use of an """""AI""""" bot.

BetaArchive?

Let's be fucking honest, stupid people are way more annoying than powertripping moderator manchildren.

Unless we're talking about manchild videogames when you come to a forum everyone assumes you're familiar with the absolute basics instead of asking mundane questions that could be answered with a search engine over and over again.

>Office licence disappears from account

>support hangs
>repeat another 3 times to get to a manager of support and finally solve it

I love how social media completely killed the forums. You have all those admins and mods that poured literal years of their lives, mostly for free into them, chasing the illusion of power. Suddenly, it all ended, people moved on the moment viable alternatives showed up, it turned out that forums were never good.

Imagine how salty those admins/mods have to be right now.

Forums are social media with a topic

Their fault for doing it for free™

I love how fools think forums and social media are comparable.
The level of information persistence alone is enough to guess that they're totally different horses. Social media is what "off topic" category was on most forums. I don't think anyone ever missed them being empty though.
Wipe the drool of your chin kid.

Stackoverflow is the worst for this

>what makes you think I want to help others and post the answer that I worked hard myself for?
I was like this once, then about 10 years later had the same problem but couldn't remember how I fixed it, first result in google was my old thread. You can't even imagine this feeling.

You should talk to a shrink user, that doesn't sound healthy.

I was pissed off at the new scroll/fling speeds in mozilla android for about the 20th time so I decided to search online. Came across someone posting the same problem in the same way I would have asked the question, it's on google groups so you can see the start of their email address, it matches mine.

Start to wonder if I've got some long standing mental problems that I don't know about it. For about 60 seconds my world was changed. Scroll further down the thread, has his full email in his sig, it's not me. Thank fuck. Very very odd feeling.

>proxy up
>make account

It's like you guys have never had to get information out of shitty forums before.

USE THE SEARCH.

that's how that would go
