The bulldozer just seems to be reaching the end of its life.

literally any ryzen chip is a huge leap for you

Take this to
/sqt/
or
/pcbg/

This doesn't deserve it's own thread. However I will leave you with a simple answer. Yes. Ryzen beats FX in everything and anything.

Name full specs and what you use it for

short answer: yes
slightly longer answer: the 8350 was a piece of shit when it was released, even some of the Ryzen 5 chips would be a huge upgrade in comparison

save some money and get a 1700 instead of 1700x. they're all binned pretty much the same

Likely gaming, let's be honest, but in this case, application doesn't matter. As stated, Ryzen beats FX. It's a simple fact of life.

I have an i7 4790 on a z97 board. Upgrade to ryzen y/n?

If you need the extra cores, sure.

wait for ryzen 2

Nah. Milk that shitty i7 for what's it's worth and then upgrade when AyyMD and Intlel release their new stuff on 10/7nm

8350 (8320 even more so) had beastly price/ performance, though, and overclocked like a motherfucker.

I'll be honest, I miss it every time I encode video.
t. 6700k user

sorry i'm not awake yet
thanks
gaming and some rendering, a little of everything

>tfw fell for the Ryzen meme

Hmm now where have I seen that before?

no

i'm currently just milking my 4790k. just poped a 1080ti in it and it is fine for 4k.

unless you do work related stuff the current cpus don't do much more for gaming.

>The bulldozer just seems to be reaching the end of its life.
it was stillborn, user.

ryzen 1700 > ryzen 1700X > ryzen 1800X

I really want to upgrade my 3930k but Ryzen still isn't quite there yet... Also fuck Intel for not soldering the new x299 chips.

Also when the fuck is RAM compability getting better? I need 32 gigs but all the Ryzen kits that size are 2400mhz, which will hamper the infinity fabric shit.

Latest AGESA update improves RAM compatibility by quite a bit.

How long is AM4 going to be supported? Like, if I buy into Ryzen now, is it reasonable I can upgrade my CPU in two or three years in a big way without buying a new motherboard?

They've said they'll be supporting it for quite awhile.

just get a 7700k which is the same price user for +20% fps in gaymayng.

*at 1080p 144hz with a 1080 ti

2020 or 2021, I think, depending on when Zen 3 is released.

AM3+ was used for 6 years.

>implying I'd buy Jewtel(TM) products

*or at any video game that allows you to play with uncapped frames exceeding your monitor's refresh rate to have more smooth responsive experience.

Honest to god I don't know if I should be happy because Sup Forums doesn't really play games or if I should be angry because you guys talk out of your ass but outside of strategy games and some Tumblr tier story driven games 60 fps even if you have 60hz monitor just isn't good enough.

>2017
>GAYMING
really nigga? the only acceptable games to play on pc in the current year are only those moba shit

>frames exceeding your monitor's refresh rate
>more smooth responsive experience

And how much drugs do you have to take to notice the difference?

>he's still falling for the 60+ Hz monitor meme after all of those years

Yes yes the frames have nothing to do with the input lag and overall control responsiveness.

I know you're upset nobody buys AMD for gayming but you don't have to pretend you actually play video games to be considered cool or to shill for AMD whichever is the option.

Framerate is independent of game logic, what the hell are you talking about? Please don't tell me you're talking about some trash tier engine that polls the inputs more the higher the framerate is.

I know you're just some random retard who just like so many other retards have misconception about refresh rates, inpug lag etc. but yes you should play your shooters and rpgs with uncapped frames even if you only own a 1080 60hz monitor because in literally 99% of games client-side things like cursor positioning or camera movement are updated once per frame thus more fps = more accuracy and that "smoothness" when moving camera around. It has nothing to do with your refresh rate.

>cursor positioning
>camera movement
Those are both things you can't actually see being updated without the higher refresh rate monitor, though. Is this all some elaborate troll? I've never seen anyone say this crap. Are you just some retarded eSpurtz wannabe that crawled in from Sup Forums?

>I'm shit at video games
>Therefore you need to be "espurts cancer" to notice a difference.

I'm sorry you're just garbage at whatever you play.

Seeing as you're one lonely little shithead who's ever told me this out of the many years I've spent gaming, going to have to chalk this one up to "eSpurts cancer", sorry bro. Invisible cursor/camera updates don't rank too highly on my list of things to give a shit about.

I honestly don't know under what rock you lived under for the last 20 years.

youtube.com/watch?v=hjWSRTYV8e0

Oh. So this whole time, you were talking about a trash tier engine that polls more the inputs the higher the framerate is. Also, you were actually eSports cancer the whole time. Well, thanks for clearing that up.

This is the inevitable fate of all "pro" CS:GO players.

No all FPS do this.
That's why PROs play 800x600 on minimum on all titles

u just mad bc u got shit KC boi

...

framelet

Minimum settings are fine in competitive FPS but don't underestimate resolution. Higher resolution means it's easier to see and hit players due to them having more pixels. Jumping from 1080p to 1440p made Quake Live and Battlegrounds a bit easier for me.

This is the case in literally every game. Controlling your character is a fluid motion and even tiniest delays which can easily go below the 16.6 ms frame outpug lag of your 60Hz monitor can be noticed. Think of it like this. Playing with uncapped frames on a 60Hz monitor is like a half measure between having an actual 144Hz monitor with 144 fps and 60 fps/60hz one. People might have shitty reaction time of something like 0.2s on average but it doesn't mean they cannot notice the input or output lag even if it is as small as few ms.

>2017
>not playing @ 400fps

>This is the case in literally every game
No, it's not, it's just the bizzare way Source engine handles things. It only effects Source engine games.

>3.1k hours

pussy

I love my Ryzen!

I don't need the cores, I just want them

This i7 is basically a high end facebook/imageboard/furry porn machine

Release Ryzen 2 with IPC equal to 7700 K as soon as possible
Then I will buy it without complaint

>just poped a 1080ti in it and it is fine for 4k
Still sitting on a 4790 non k waiting on vega, really tempted to give in and just snag a 1080Ti but I fear I will regret it if vega turns out to be on par or better for cheaper.

Ryzen already has higher IPC than jewtel

*at equal clocks

...

Add ryzen 1600 in front of all of them in terms of value.

>Source: r/pcmasterrace
GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY IMAGEBOARD YOU DEGENERATE NORMIE SUMMERFAG CANCER REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

You better kill yourself until it's too late.

>huurr what does IPC mean

>You better kill yourself until it's too late
>Until
Don't you mean "before it's too late" you grammar peasant?

Also, r/pcmasterrace is cancer and links to it should never be posted on this board.

A lot

Asus B350-Plus
With Ryzen 1600x
And Corsair vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4 3000.

Anyone have a similiar setup?

Also is it necessary to flash the bios with ryzen?

No this is the case for old games and games using shit-tier engine made by pajeets. Every engine that's not architected by retard, or from before 2003, proccesses input independently of rendering. FPS caps only the rendering, the game world is being simulated as frequently as possible. This is true even for most console games.

Wow, you're a whole new category of retard.

it won't.

yeah early revision motherboards have a hard time with ram frequencies.

You can get 2 16GB DIMMS, corsair and G.Skill make 3000mhz 2x16 kits

...

I have an AsRock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4
1700
And Corsair vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3000

Go with asrock they have less issues

well fuck me went ahead and bought an asus aftermarket model 1080Ti on impulse for 4K, set it up just now was worried I'd be sitting on 50fps at 4K but with a few tweaks like AA off and hairworks off on games like witcher 3 I am managing 58~60fps and that is on a rig running windows in a VM with GPU passthrough.
Haven't even bother OCing the card yet, still on factory clock speeds. I am satisfied with its performance.

You're the biggest retard in this thread.

All this happened in one hour?

It was a quick process local store is like a 5min drive, and it is easy to swap GPUs for the VM just edit a single file with the device IDs of the new card and run a single command and bob's your uncle.
Setting it up for the first time is the only time consuming part of the process, later on modifications are quick.

>I don't need the cores, I just want them

Yea~ that's like %90 of all AMD boys

I'm on a 2500K, thinking of upgrading after 6 years.

Why should I go with a 1700X over a 7700K when the 7700 is $70 cheaper and has 15% better performance in games? not to mention I cannot be arsed dealing with any issues this new AMD architecture seems to be having.

it's kind of the opposite for me. I know ryzen makes more sense but I want a 5ghz OC just to say I have it

>Hello Sup Forumsentoomen, will it be worth the money for me to upgrade my AMD 8350 to a Ryzen 1700x?
Yes.
/thread

>2007
Why get a quadcore when a core 2 duo has the same performance in games and costs $70 less?

Get a 1700 and OC it to 3.8 GHz (or more if you have an aftermarket cooler) and you'll get the same performance as you would with an 1800x.

Glad my simple question thread I didnt need to make turned into a shitpost circlejerk.
Never change Sup Forums

Fucking moron

He's right you know.
They have the same IPC but itnel can clock much higher

I wanted the cores before too, but X99 was way waaay too expensive

But now I can have them

Ryzen build coming later this year

3.8Ghz with the stock cooler OMEGALUL
I can barely do 3.6Ghz at 1.1875V on the stock cooler, certainly not feasible for 24/7 usage. Not to mention most 1700s need 1.32V+ for 3.8Ghz.
Ryzen is a very bad platform, you pay more for the CPU, same for a mb with less features (compared to z270) and you NEED very good ram. It is simply not worth it. It has a lot of issues as well. My Ivy Bridge laptop boots faster than my X370 1700 system.

Not always, Skyrim had a hard locked 60 fps limit because the physics engine just shit itself over 60 fps.

If Gamebryo (aka shitbryo) isn't a trash-tier engine, I don't know what is.

hay this is maybe a weird question but how thick / sturdy is the substrate on ryzen CPUs? wasn't really a big fan of Intel's "let's build skylake on top of a wafer of fucking eggshell" decision.

yeah but do they work with ryzen in that frequency?

Did you have a CPU bend under the fan weight?

nah, still on haswell. sometimes people gotta move their systems around though, and just cause your cpu can handle say 1 kg of heatsink when its sitting on your desk doesn't mean it'll handle that riding around in the trunk of your car. besides making a multi-hundred dollar piece of technology significantly more fragile in order to shave a fraction of a cent off its manufacture cost is a shithead move any way you look at it.

I agree, but I don't know about these, sorry.

No one can know that, those benchmarks of the frontier edition are fishy as fuck

Yes

>
>or at any video game that allows you to play with uncapped frames exceeding your monitor's refresh rate to have more smooth responsive experience.

You're talking out of your ass.
And now back to >>>v please

Noctua makes a NH-D15 SE cooler for AM4 chipsets... so I reckon that Ryzen can take a big cooler

But does Zen support Windows 7?

Neither Intel nor AMD are supporting Windows 7 anymore.

Are you actually using the 3850 to its fullest ability? If not, then don't spend more money on useless shit.

Powering up and making it into windows is that CPUs fullest ability user, and a fucking miracle at that.
