If you want help:
>State the budget for your build (and country if not the USA).
>List games/software you use often, as well as your monitor resolution + refresh rate.
>Clarify your goal for build improvements: lower price or improved specs?

CPUs:
>G4560 - Budget builds (R5 1400 - if you can't afford better or specifically need 8 threads but not a very powerful CPU
>R5 1500x - Buy the 1600 instead
>R5 1600 - Best value for higher fps gaming / mixed usage; Get a 1600x if you don't OC
>i7-7700k - Only for 144hz
>R7/Xeon/Threadripper - Compute/Multitask/mixed use; Not required for just gaming.

GPUs:
>Integrated CPU Graphics - Desktop stuff and very light games
>RX 560 and GTX 1050Ti - Lower end budget cards, drop settings on newer games
>RX570 - 1080p@60hz at high, running most maxed older games at 144+hz.
>RX580 and GTX1060 6GB - 1080p@60hz maxed, 1440p@60hz at lower settings; Go for the RX580 if you can.
>GTX 1070 - 1080p@144hz /1440p@60hz at high
>GTX 1080 - 1080p@144hz / 1440p@60hz maxed, 4k@60hz in a few games; Probably the highest end card you need for 1080p/1440p.
>GTX 1080 Ti - 1440p@144 hz and 4k@60hz maxed/high in many games; You're kind of going overboard with this one.
>AMD GPUs are suffering a lack of stock and Nvidia a rise in price thanks to miners

RAM:
>Check your Mobo QVL before buying any RAM
>Ryzen benefits from high speed RAM

General:
>ALWAYS LOOK AT PRODUCT REVIEWS!
>Always consider an SSD. Try buying a large SSD for what you'd pay for your SSD+HDD combined, and add a HDD later
>NVMe SSDs aren't for a faster OS boot, they're for productivity/scratch disk/VMs. NVMe and M.2 are not the same thing, M.2 is a form factor.
>The Ryzen lineup comes with exceptionally good stock coolers. (with the exception of the 1600X) consider using them over any sub 35USD cooler.

So the only viable option at the moment are overpriced or shit gpus?

hard drives were a mistake
i got 4x3.5 in my Fractal Design Define R5 and holy shit are they noisy. Spinning noise mostly, but more importantly all the vibrations in there cause horribly loud and irregular buzzing noises that will drive you crazy.
Granted, it's two specific old hard drives that are causing this (8 years old drives), but still.
Once i have enough money to do so, i'm going 100% SSD

Did you mount them proper? My HDD is the last thing I would complain about. Everything else is louder.

So the Mobo and GPU are perpendicular to one another? Won't you require a PCI-E riser?

Yeah i did, no worries in there. I tried a fuckton of different mounting position, different cable management, different case, even tried some fukcery involving zip ties (funnily enough that worked the best). It's just the way it is, those old hard drives vibrate a lot more than the two others i have and are such create so much vibration the buzzing noise becomes incredibly loud at times. Thankfully, the good ole' method of kicking my case until it's not noisy anymore (because slightly different position of the hard drive cage causes different noise level) still works at times.
But yeah, once i get the money, i'm replacing my hard drives. The rest of my case is pretty noiseless because i can manage custom fan curves and airflow pretty well, but i can't do shit about the spinning speed of those hard drives so it'll stay noisier than the rest regardless

what are you doing

Is there much difference between the R5 and R4? I have the latter

More adaptability for larger video cards, better water cooling options, better dust filters and the door can be mounted to open from either side as well as a more 'muted' power light compared to the r4.

Yes exactly.

(original question relink )

yes, thank miners

>i7-7700k

I doubt so. Probably have to do your own custom mod.

failing to link a post in a thread. i think i got it now

Thanks man, I think I'll stick to my R4 and save a few hundred in a new build

Yeah, seems there are not that many cases with riser configs since the market's quite miniscule for those

Like 100-150 $ seems appropriate.

Where in the actual fuck are all the AM4 motherboards with wifi

I want to do a ryzen build with a 1080 in a define r5 but cannot find a decent motherboard

Wait you can get mobos with wifi? Holy shit I've been out of the loop.

reposting my questions from previous thread. im building a pc with these:
>amd ryzen 5 1600
>msi gtx 1070
>asrock ab350m pro4 (mobo)

im going to buy a 550W psu, does it matter which one ? and if it does, with what criteria should I choose one?

also should I worry about what kind of full case should I buy or any full case will do fine with these specs inside?

also does 32gb RAM ddr3 beat 2x 8gb RAM ddr4?

Don't do it. You want to be sure when you're off the net YOU'RE OFF THE NET!

DDR4 just has higher bandwidth and lower latency, it doesn't make up for lower capacity

/vgcag/ - Video Game Console Assembly General

Just last thread someone was doing a video editing build you idiot

One in a million.
Probably editing ebin MLG 1v1 shootan game footage :^)

Kek. Thanks for the chuckle.

so any ideas on when the next gtx series will be coming out ? ie. 2070 or w/e

Volta is Q1 2018

yes i am

>already built desktop
>does everything I need it to do
>still desire cool tech to buy
What do?

Sell the old one, or just buy a second one?

>buy a 1060 6gb early in the summer for $230.
>gpu prices skyrocket
The 1060 does everything I need it to well, but should I sell it and turn a profit to get something better? I see them going for nearly $400 on ebay.

Would it be pointless since any card I get will be overpriced?

Give it to me and build another one.

Just hold it. I did the same and there's no point reentering the GPU market; just sit on it until the hype dies down; like you said, it does everything we need.
Are you me? I wanna build an AMD rig using white as my colour scheme but I have no need when my current rig is doing everything I need.

I guess there's no way to check how much fps would i be able to get if i had 144 hz monitor right? Do i just check gpu usage any by that guess how much fps would i get over 60?

Disable v-sync in your game and just look at the FPS counter through steam or afterburner

what? with 144hz monitor you'll get the same amount of fps you're getting now.

Is it worth picking up a 1050ti for my amd rig since every other card is currently nonexistant

Nevermind, I'm retarded. I didn't realise I had V-Sync on. I simply thought you can't see more than 60 fps in Afterburner if you have 60 Hz monitor.

What's a good 24" 1080p monitor

>OP

I've got 2 BenQs and they're pretty shmick

the 1080 is reasonably priced right now because they aren't good for mining. if you got the cash get it. I did instead of waiting for the 1070 or 580 to go back in stock and I'm not mad at all, its a bretty badass card.

pajeet shill slide thread

sage in all fields

how pitiful do you have to be

The 1080 is a cuck card. Barely outperforms a 1070 and gets completely stomped by a 1080 Ti. Waste of money.

What is a nice mobo and PSU if i want to build a computer for my father? He doesnt play video games or do any component heavy things on the computer at all. But i would still want to build him something that is of high quality that will last for a while. I already got a working 780 TI card, a Intel Core i7-4790K cpu, 16 gb of RAM that is DDR3 and a water cooler for the cpu.
Budget is around 100-150 $.
Help a fellow user out! I just want to be a good son.

nigga i am cucked every gpu out on the market is 700+ dollaroos

GL2460? How do they handle an overclock?

Is there any to do list after installing Windows 10 for the first time?

Just bought all the parts for my first build. Are there any tools/cables/etc. that I'll need that won't come with my parts?

>check store
>1050tis almost twice as expensive as regular 1050s

Cryptocurrencies were a mistake.

Uninstall Windows 10

PC components are optimized for video game performance, have been for almost 30 years.

ganbatte

Dont forget your anti-static wrist strap user

Do non-blower style coolers pump more air out through the back and front relative to the sides?

If I block the back holes in a casemod would it make any difference in temps? There are barely any openings there so I don't think it'd affect airflow in any significant manner.

i dont speak zipperhead

>wait almost 10 YEARS to upgrade
>10 years of gaming on a pentium
>finally when i have everything ready, cryptoniggers kill the gpu market
i want to die

But the speed it gives ryzen is important,

go to best buy then faggot

What would you recommend grounding it too? I use them all the time for school, but our workstations have ones that plug into the desk. I'll be building my PC on my kitchen table with no metal near me.

>i7-7700k - Only for 144hz
Explain this one, faggot. Different games react differently to high clock speeds, so one may very well benefit from them in games that don't reach 144 fps.

Oh wait, I already have the answer: you're that retard who takes every opportunity to shill Ryzen, inventing arguments against Intel in the process. Hang yourself, nigger.

I know your pain. I upgraded after 8 years.

>Explain this one, faggot.

This, sadly best buy or if you are lucky and live near a frys or microcenter is your only option to not get ass raped by online price gouging. But get there early, when I got my 1080 all the shelves were bare except two 1080s

Name one game that can't stay above 60 FPS on Ryzen but can on an i7-7700k.

Never oc'd, I'm not that skilled enough to do that. But they've never let me down

Far Cry Primal aka OGA BOOGA BIX NOOD: the accurate detroit simulator

Does this have anything to do with 144 fps, though? His note next to 7700k is pointless and a passive aggressive way to recommend the Ryzen CPUs below it.

pcpartpicker.com/user/Rayor/saved/H4Vpgs
Is this is sensible build for my 62 year old mom? Her typical tasks would consist of general web usage, ripping CDs via iTunes, watching DVDs and streaming HD video. The most intensive thing it would have to do is probably 1080p 10-bit h.264 playback.
I wanted to keep costs low, while having a small footprint. My initial thought was the NUC line, but I wanted something a bit cheaper plus I remembered my mom still uses optical media a lot. I remembered my schools had lots of small form factor Dell machines that seemed to be pretty decent machines for what they were. Does anybody have experience with buying used computers from this line or similar ones? Is the build quality good enough that buying used is a pretty safe bet?

Top tier argument, friendo.

>Far Cry
>playing ubisoft games in 2017

It benefits Ryzen but only if your GPU isn't bottleneck you in the first place

Yes? Are you stupid? If you only have a 60hz monitor there's no reason to get a 7700k over Ryzen because the extra frames won't do you any good.

thats a pic of OP, not supposed to be an argument

Does anyone else have a 1080ti?
Is this a good or a bad score?
This seems rather low.

>muh intel is best a 144hz meme
back to the >>>/gaschambers/

intel is indeed the best at high framerate at the time being

The QVL listed the 8x8gb version of the ram I chose. It should work with 2x8gb right?

Here's one scenario when you might wanna get a 7700k instead: when single core performance matters.
>here's when he flips and claims that all games are properly multi-threaded

should i try getting 3.8GHz?

Forgot to mention I already have a 1070 I got on sale couple months back.

>amd outperforming intel on an rts game.

please tell me this is legit and we are finally living in a new age that bulldozer promised.

Cherrypicked static picture
I don't know why you think that 8 cores at a much lower frequency than a 4 cores CPU is better for gaming, why are you so much in denial about it?
Pick a 7700k, add 4 cores and clock it lower and you get yourself a CPU that performs worse in the vast majority of games. Cherrypicking static pictures from doubtable sources won't change that.

>bulldozer
Fuck off.

>i don't like this benchmark because my favorite cpu doesn't win

some epic argumentation you have there
keep posting your static pictures, it's very entertaining

>firestrike
How about some games instead?
