It will probably be the king for many years to come. For some reason Sup Forums will be mad about this.

I'm getting the distinct smell of sage
It's a bit early to play pretend, bud.
pretend that I'm typng sage in all fields?
>Your life in The ultimate
>your pocket digital device
Was cancer making brain potato at this point?
Reminder that apple was late to the smartphone game
Reminder that nothing on the market has looked like that since 2010, and instead everything now looks like an iPhone.
>still the king
How long have you been in a coma?
Yes everything is Fischer price interface now except BlackBerry
Still miss my treo 650, think that was 2004
> implying anyone on this board is old enough to remember all the smartphones that existed before applel came along
>Fischer price interface
You say that, but back in 2006 you couldn't do a fraction of what was later possible with a modern (post-iPhone) smartphone and a desktop-class OS / SDK. BlackBerrys were little more than glorified email devices.
I wish I was rich enough to have an iPhone.
*sighs*
I guess I'll make do with this android device.
Gee I sure am glad we've got the iphone
Now everything is a glorified website called apps
looks spiffy
3GS was first truly modern phone in my opinion.
Just face it, Apple lost

I remember them and none of them were any good
iPhone was way ahead of its time. It was as he said when it released.... 3 groundbreaking devices in one. The iPod, the Phone, the internet browser. Nothing else was as good as iPhone at even one of those things.
All the other phones had mobile browsers with text only websites, gimp internet.
still better than what was available, and let's not even talk about what web browsers in mobile phones were like back then
...
I blame it for the Internet's current state. What a fucking mistake.
>implying any of these pieces of shit were in any way 'smart'
Being able to browse an almost-unusable version of the web and check your emails does not constitute a smartphone.
Market size increases as more consumers enter the marketplace. More consumers are able to enter the marketplace because of low quality cheap Android devices.
There are more iPhone users than there have ever been. There are also more smartphone users than there have ever been and most of them are poor third worlders.
But apps to the same stuff does?
So are they announcing a new iPhone today or what?
And I assume everything the iPhone did while ignoring it's many crippling limitations does, right
>most of the world is poor
ground breaking stuff you have there
blackberry faggot cucklord detected
Good one
>people were browsing from phones playing mp3s since mid 2000s
>apple acts like it was first to do it to
>OMG ITS TEH FUTURE
>SUCH INOVASHUN
>There are more iPhone users than there have ever been.
Great. How about a source for that?
>accelerometer
>multitouch
>great camera for the time
>fantastic media playback
>easily browse desktop webpages
>best UI on the market by a country mile
Yeah no it didn't compare to anything else at the time.
>people were browsing from phones
no one was browsing shit and phones had like 8mb of storage for mp3s and low res photos half the time.
Yeah you could add a memory card but you still had to browse into the folder and individually play them and shit. There was no app for music in a lot of phones and if there was it sucked. No volume buttons... pretty much everyone just had a separate mp3 player because it was easier.
did you ever use a sidekick? it could load full webpages. had a blog where you could upload pics. was synchronized with servers. In typical apple fashion they advertised dumbed down pre existing tech to their hiv positive fan base.
>no one was browsing shit
me and a lot of other people using palm treos want to know what it is you're talking about?
Can you copy-paste files from your laptop to your iPhone and vice versa, or do you still need to install that pice of shit software called iTunes and have to synchronize all your fucking library?
How about ringtones? If I have a song in flac/mp3 can I set it as my ringtone, or do I still need to cut a max. 30 sec segment from it, encode it with iTunes, change the extension of the file, synchronize it with iTunes?
"Apple. Just works" lol
>There was no app for music in a lot of phones and if there was it sucked.
Also, the Motorola Rockr had iTunes.
>Can you copy-paste files from your laptop to your iPhone and vice versa
They encourage you to use the cloud I think
Yes. Because If i want to copy files from my laptop I:
1. Should share all of them with Apple/Dropbox
2. Should waste time: first to upload from laptop to "cloud". second to download to my phone
3. Should waste internet bandwidth instead of doing everything directly.
I'm not saying you have to like it, I'm just saying I think that's what they want users to do
It might be possible to transfer in some other way. I don't even have an iPhone
You're so stuck in the past user, you're going to have to stop resisting change some day.
Nokia N95 was released few months earlier and it was a much better phone than OG iPhone.
>accelerometer
With rotating screen being the only use case. N95 had entire NGage platform with games utilising it.
>Multitouch
Gotta give iPhone that. It was one of the first phone implementing it.
>Great camera for the time
Are you shitting me? Camera in iPhone was pure low res and stills only garbage. It was laughable especially when compared Nokias and Sony Ericssons even from years before 2007.
>Fantastic media playback
Yeah, sure. Especially with audio jack retraced so far back you couldn't plug any reasonable earphones. Again Nokia N96 had dedicated music buttons, stereo speakers (very innovative back then) and rather impressive audio player using dynamically build library for file organisation.
>easily browse desktop webpages
Touch indeed and smooth scrolling indeed made web browsing incredible and so much better than any other mobile device at the time.
>best UI on the market by a country mile
UI was quite different from anything else on the market at the time and it was quite nice but not much more functional than other dumb phones from that time. Nothing quite like Nokia's smartphones running Symbian S60.
Why do you guys always think your the only sole survivors or something? Eat a dick old man you deserve no respect.
The real culprit is social media, whose growth was fueled by smartphones.
The smartphone itself is a fine device if you don't use it primarily for Instagram and Snapchat.
>Can you copy-paste files from your laptop to your iPhone and vice versa
Yeah, it's called AirDrop.
>custom ringtones
What are you, 12? Do you also whine about not ricing your home screen?
T-That doesn't count...
What said plus it didn't even have multitasking like Nokia phones did.
As of last year's update, you can literally Cmd+C Cmd+V stuff from your Mac and iPhone if they're both on WiFi. It's designed for use with text and images but I've found it works with other files as well.
will mobile hardware ever have a moment as kino as this reveal again? everything seems so rote and forced now (i.e. tablets, phablets, curved screens). the smartphone game got saturated super fast and it managed to take something that felt magical and make it boring
Probably not. The tech market is too self-aware now.
Have you tested with big video files? How about copy paste over the lighting cable? Does it work on Windows and Linux, too?
you are retarded
It sounds like you never used an ios1 device.
>Have you tested with big video files?
Nope
>How about copy paste over the lighting cable?
I think you need a special program. I don't know, I'm using iOS 11 at the moment and the new file manager does make it work more like a computer.
>Does it work on Windows and Linux, too?
If you're talking about the universal clipboard, I highly doubt it'll ever be compatible with Windows or Linux. Same with all their other continuity features.
The original iPhone actually had shit for features. It has the iPod, email, and Safari.
The official app store didn't come out till later, and even if it did have the iTunes store it was only accessable via WiFi.
Didn't even have copy/pasting text.
So what we've learned here so far, is if you owned some 5 or 6 other phones, combined you had a better device than the iPhone.
>Feature exists in iPhone
>Of course it does you mongoloid, Apple a best
>Feature doesn't exist in iPhone
>Y-y-you don't need it! A-are you twelve??
Pajeet and Chang can't afford iPhones you tard
Myth
Busted
ive been saying this forever. i've always lived like a poorfag, bought staple foods, rarely dine out (and order cheap stuff when i do) and yet ive always been more financially stable than my friends, even when i was unemployed.
hell all the furniture in my room right now is just stuff i picked up from the thrift store. my 2nd monitor i found in someone's trash on the street
>your life in your pocket
Where did everything go so wrong?
Everyone just puts their phone in a shitty rubber case anyway. I don't think having an iphone is a status symbol in any way. All phones look the same from 5 feet.
>millionaires don't buy new cars
I guess it's poor people buying all those Teslas and Ferraris and $100,000 cars.
ever seen a millionaire actually driving a civic? no
poor people buy cars and pay over time because they have to get to work and don't have thousands of dollars lying around
people with millions of dollars buy sports cars they hardly ever even drive
Considering how much many people use their phones (hours per day for everything) I don't think spending $20 per month for a good one is a waste of money. Lower income people probably get more utility from their smartphones than nearly anything else they own
They don't care about impressing strangers who walk past them, but people who talk to them.
...
You should visit Romania. You would see people driving cars that are more expensive than the house they live in.
how could he possibly get that info
anyway these guys are talking about net worth millionaires, people who are married, live in a paid for 250,000 home, own 100k worth of random shit and have $325,000 each in their IRAs
a million dollars is just not what it used to be, it does not really mean you are rich, basically having a million bucks means you can retire comfortably if you are careful, that's it.
People who buy Ferraris are buying them as their 3rd car and have a shit ton more than a few hundred grand lying around
>You should visit Romania. You would see people driving cars that are more expensive than the house they live in.
we have that too, it's called Alabama
>in order to qualify as being rich you should be able to afford a $75,000 car
i agree with that, but I don't consider someone with a net worth of a million dollars rich
tfw when a Volkswagen Golf R is $44,000
but that still makes sense kind of
No, apple users want you to see their cool new toy and drool over it. When the Apple watch came out this one guy came into my job expecting me to think he was some kind of golden god or something
>iDrone comes into my 7-eleven
>Fidgets with it while shopping around
>Leaves his arm on the counter hoping I see it
>Fidgets with it again
>I still don't say anything about it
>His jimmies are getting russled
>Yeah I got the new Apple watch
>That's nice
>It's pretty cool, you could totally change what song your playing right now without touching your phone. Neat huh?
>I'm using an iPod classic
>Oh
>Starts blabbing about all the other cool things it does
>I still don't give a fuck
>Ask him if it tells the time
>He starts fiddling with it
>I just glance at my Casio
>It's 3:47
>Yeah but can you text with your watch?
>No but I can text with my phone
>He leaves full of salt that I didn't suck his iDick
>Later that night I tell my friend what happened
>That same guy was walking around Ikea doing the same exact thing
I really seriously doubt the average car purchase by someone with over $10,000,000 is 40k
too many faggots with that much money are buying 100k-300k cars and would drive that average way the fuck up.
fuck i want an iwatch for its functionality but i don't want everyone to think i am a tool
i guess i don't have to wear it outside....
Honestly I find people with Fitbits to be bigger tools than people with the Apple watch. The Apple watch atleast has functionality, 9/10 people with a Fitbit probably only count their steps to try and out do each other.
the fitbit is a fad, the apple watch really does do a ton of interesting shit
I just know people will think I am a chode if I wear one though, you can buy a $500 mechanical watch and nobody thinks anything of it, but the apple watch has a stigma
>buy mom new phone
>show her accelerometer can be used as pedometer on her phone with an app to count her steps
>never uses it for 2 years
>fitbit comes out
>she starts using that and has an extra thing she needs to not only carry, but also charge
>she doesnt use any of the other features or looks at any stats besides steps walked
what the fuck will you do with a watch if you don't plan on wearing it outside ?
also it has no feature
the steps per day thing is a normie meme
all the secretaries at my office talk about it
I really like the idea of seeing a text without having to take out my phone 100x per day, or seeing who is calling me. Just being able to get away from my phone a bit would be worth it to me
>I just know people will think I am a chode if I wear one though,
It's been out long enough you should be fine. The only time recently I've even really noticed an Apple watch was last week when some poo in loo at taco Bell was making a phone call with it and looked like a complete jack ass talking to his arm.
>what the fuck will you do with a watch if you don't plan on wearing it outside ?
i was joking user
>also it has no feature
tracks sleep
heartrate
calories burned
see texts without taking out your phone
get weather updates
tell the time
bluetooth songs to your earbuds with no phone
recieve and make calls, leave your phone at home sometimes
plus it's a good watch you can see in the dark
>pedometer
also you can see your email headers so you know if anything worth responding to comes in
My parents have the Samsung rip off of the Fitbit and all they use it for is to compare steps. It's one of the first things they bring up at dinner.
I've seen 50 people talk about their steps per day count for the last few years
everyone is still fat though
Bad thing was that every nigger can now use twitter and push their blacklviesmatter bullshit.
I have a fitbit and so does most of my family.
Got invited to a weekday step challenge where it compares how many steps everyone has and starts giving notifications of how people are doing and if someone overtake you or takes the top spot.
I had to stop accepting the invites, it was ridiculous all the spam you get throughout the day.
I also turned off the text and call notifications because its just much more functional to view that stuff on your phone.
They are not accurate but they do track change or a delta in data gathered which is what i use it for.
Resting heart rate improvements as health improves, weight and fat (I have the Aria scale as well), sleep patterns are useful to target, silent alarms I couldn't live without and its interesting to see heart rate zones during and after exercising. I don't even look at the step counts and have changed the default layout to show time and heart rate instead.
>I also turned off the text and call notifications because its just much more functional to view that stuff on your phone.
Ignoring vapid texts without having to dig around in your pocket is the best part
Texts are always important because they cost, whatapps is where all the trivial bull comes from for me
is there any carrier that does not offer only unlimited free texts?
>Paying for texts
That always pissed me off about Trac phone, every time my friend would text just the word "yo" it cost me a quarter. I swear that fucker would do it just to piss me off.
>"yo" it cost me a quarter.
wtf that's crazy
Yeah, it was something like .25 to receive and .15 to send out some shit like that.
Ah, the year my life started going downhill!
Get your shit together, 'Murica. How the fuck is it normal for someone to pay to RECEIVE an SMS?
good point as everything became free the user became teh product, that's exactly circa 2007
