Found my old eMac. Runs fine, but browsers such as Safari and Chrome aren't supported because of how old it is. What can I do to get stuff to work on this machine, specifically to play Steam games? Pic related

install ubuntu

What OS is it on? Might be too old to run anything besides games from 2004 anyway.

No idea. How do I find out?

I found this page:
steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/2/364042262887672539/
which says Steam requires OS X 10.7 or later. PPC Macs like your eMac only support up to 10.4. Plus I don't think Steam ever had a PPC build.

your wii is showing

Fuck. Well, what do I do this heavy piece of shit?

vnc maybe?

opera still works on ppc I think

Sell it?
Set it up as a guest internet browsing device?
Use it to play old PPC-only OS X games?

Play neverball

lol this looks like a generic aesthetic thing

not bad audio visual for an arcade machine or something. maybe a karaoke machine? install a PPC linux distro and hack away :)

where do I find which os I'm on

>install ubuntu
wrong

>What can I do to get stuff to work on this machine

Install Gentoo

Click the apple in the top left and click "About this Mac"

Apple (top left) > About This Mac

Also you can press Command + Shift + 3 to take a screenshot, or Command + Shift + 4 to select an area for a screenshot

how u do that

Install 10.5 leopard, it looks cooler

...

It's called Print-Screen.

Congrats, you have an old mac.

There is no 10.5 for powerpc.

...

"Leopard supports both PowerPC- and Intel x86-based Macintosh computers; support for the G3 processor was dropped and the G4 processor required a minimum clock rate of 867 MHz, and at least 512 MB of RAM to be installed."

I meant how do you get the browser working. Mine doesn't work.

install emulators and use it for old games.
that's literally the only cool thing you can do with it desu. the crt makes it worth it

Install the one in his screenshot.

>CRT
that's the only reason I wanted to use it

>minimum clock rate of 867 MHz
Erf, that's why my updater dropped the 10.5 (700MHz)...

TenFourFox like in the screenshot...

Plug in an Ethernet cord, it looks like your eMac doesn't have wifi.

>see the handle back here? that's where you tie a chain to it and use it for a boat anchor

Dammit. I'll be able to get the login later today, unless there's a
way I can bypass this.
I just moved it to where I could plug in Ethernet.
