ITT i go into the Chinese interwebz and bring you fresh OC on the Chinese perspective on anything and everything. The website is called "zhihu"- it functions like Quora, i.e. a question-and-answer format.
Today's post is about: why do Americans like drinking coffee?
The most popular answer:
(according to American scientists, coffee is a addictive, but unlike cocaine and 'white powder' (presumably heroin), it's legal. Americans love their coffee because it gives them a caffeine high and a energy boost.)
(while kids love drinking Coke, adults prefer coffee because it's not as sweet, and its more sophisticated.)
(Americans like tea too, but coffee is ingrained deeper into the cultural backbone of America. Furthermore, loads of youths drink it to be goddamn hipsters. Of course, Starbucks and other coffeehouses cater to these hipsters and sell 'gateway' drinks: frappucinos - as fucking sweet and greasy as a milkshake.
Why do they continue to drink coffee?
1. they like coffee
2. it's a habit
3. social pressure
4. lack of energy
5. addictive af
It's that simple.)
