Entry-level Programmer Salaries

source: insights.stackoverflow.com/survey/2017#salary
I hope none of you had any dreams of becoming middle-class and not just a NEET forever simply because you can code.

if you knew how to save money 33k is more than enough for you to save 200k in 10 years.

>American salaries are 2x the closest countries
Those fucking eurocucks pay like 80% income tax, how can they afford to even live off 50k a year?

Okay kiddo.

I could easily afford to off €500 a month in my eurocuck country. Housing, healthcare, education, transport and services are just so much cheaper here.

money is not technology

I make that much as an 8th grade dropout getting 3-4 days off per week.

>he didn't get a job as a bricklayer

>mfw making 90k doing less than ethical contracting for a certain organization that Snowden worked for.
>straight out of college

2.5k a year?
Where do I sign up?

...

Fuck off with your bag of rice and hose water

Yeah eat fucking lentiles amirite XDXDXDDDD

>entry level
That's why it's only 33k sperglord

You specialise as you get older and make bank maintaining and transitioning old COBOL or something like that

I made 70k out of college in the US as a java monkey

Somehow these facts triggered you. I'm not even sure why.

What fact? You're a retard, developers do become middle class as their skillset expands.

Exactly

>tfw math-CS double major

I don't even care if people discover this meme, brainlets can't do math and a lot of mathematicians can't do code.

Why are you acting so autistic? Calm down, John. Stack Overflow is probably the best source on the planet for insight into the IT community.

Seeing my girlfriends MATLAB made me realise that hard, spaghetti code all day errday

>Why are you acting so autistic?
Welcome to Sup Forums faggot enjoy your stay

But Sup Forums told me you get 100k starting

>Sup Forums is autistic
Touche'

If you're working on the west coast that's like 30-40k anywhere else.

33k is slavery, I get 43k€ ($49k) for my first job and that's considered pretty low.

Where the fuck are these people working that $30k is entry-level programmer range?
Interns make that here.

And I don't live in a tech or financial hub.

Pretty sure anyone with

tfw I got $300 for 9 months of work as a programming intern. gotta love the EU.

Where the fuck do you live? Entry(1 year) make 50k where I'm at and it's not even a high cost of living

Nope, NJ. In the suburbs too.

>I hope none of you had any dreams of becoming middle-class and not just a NEET forever simply because you can code.
That money does make you middle class though, at least on Yuropoor continent.

America is different because people get fucked in the ass with health care, pensions, etc.

Why are you asking me? I linked survey data. Are you confused or just upset?

Yeah, that looks great on paper until you realize that getting that salary requires bananas of overtime. Granted the OT multipliers and shift differentials look great on paper (especially if you're union), but when you're working something like 7 12's in a labor-intensive job the money just isn't worth it anymore.

Oh, did I mention that the highest-paying jobs usually require you to travel and live out of some hotel room, having a big chunk of your paycheck flushed away on lodging and eating out (since you have no time to cook)?

t. union electrician

That's probably the best part about being a full-time programmer. Most of the time you work remotely from the comfort of your home and only have to go in for a couple hours a day a few days a week just to be at important meetings.

This is why programming jobs are actually perfect for neets. 30k a year seems meager (and it is), but for a young, single guy who's a shut-in it's pretty much perfect.

From what I've heard and read, though, many entry-level programmers are the incarnation of the wagie -- overworked, underpaid, harangued regularly, all for the profit of their superiors. Not to mention many parts of the industry are plagued with SJW toxicity.
