Does Sup Forums like fires?

This one will be lit 21:00 CEST (Oslo, Paris, Berlin etc) - and it's 47.4m tall.

It's the tallest in the world, it's a midsummer (st.hans) celebration thing. We've done this for over 50 years, but here are some details of the last ten:

2007: ca. 24 meters (tipped over)
2008: ca. 30 meters (tipped over)
2009: ca. 33 meters (tipped over)
2010: 40,45 meters - World record (tipped over)
2011: ca. 28 meters (tipped over)
2012: ca. 33 meters (tipped over)
2013: ca 27 meters
2014: ca. 33 meters (tipped over)
2015: ca. 34 meters (tipped over)
2016: ca. 47.4 meters - New world record (it will definitely tip over)

If anyone should want to watch a live stream, by any chance, then here it is:

I guess not

>burning your own flag
but why

No. The north part of our state catches fire like clockwork every year, around June. Fire season doesn't end until like November, when the heat dies down a bit.

this

norwegians are eager and willing to burn their own fucking flag

This desu. Our version of midsummer just involves fireworks. Big fires remind us of wildfires.

No big bonfires?

Well, I suppose the people who put the flag there didn't think about that desu.

This is about as big as they get: youtube.com/watch?v=nbBsiPM38L4

Bonfires are more of a 'get together with family and friends, cook some food, and drink shitloads of alcohol' thing here.

the flag will most likely be removed

We shall see in a bit. It's gonna be lit in 10 minutes.

this
just burn ivory coast's like normal protestants do

Oh fugg

fireworgs

When will it burn?

I'm assuming soon. There are dudes climbing it right now.

Aw, i see them now

Will take some time then

Att norrbaggar aldrig kan hålla tiden..

lol. this cant be live. it is not dark outside, baka.

FLAG REMOVED

They just took it down.

...

how long until they light it?

Nice. I'm glad they didnt fuck up that part.

Okay, I'll post in here instead of Didn't see this one.

They are gonna do it now. If you're watching the stream, they'll do it now.

...

theres still 2 guys standing on the top

They're lighting it top down. Develops enough heat to burn all of it at the bottom (eventually)

...

weird, I thought they would have lit it at the bottom

is it just the camera angle or is it slightly off balance?

do they guys climb down or just leap into the water

i see fire

absolute madmen on the top

Who the hell starts a fire on the top?

...

They did that once 20 years ago or something, as they thought it took too long time for it to burn on the top. Then it all crashed into the water far too soon and everyone was disappointed.

Don't get me wrong, this one too will definitely tip over, but probably not in a good while.

Anyone who wants to see it burn for hours instead of crashing down preemted.

I would love to visit norway for an event like this

seems like a good excuse to get drunk with the lads

how many people attend?

are those dudes climbing down using a safety harnass or are they just yoling it?

Hur lång tid tar det innan den brinner ordentligt?

stream doesn't work for me

do you have a llivestream?

Wish I was on one of those boats.

See op:s link

Probably yoloing it, but I'm not sure. Maybe they're linked to each other.

Par timer, tror jeg, maks. Men det blir lys lue innen noen minutter

>do you have a llivestream?

smp.no/nyheter/2016/06/23/Slinningsbålet-minutt-for-minutt-12937808.ece

Man, fuck reality. I want to jump to a moment when that really burns when ever I go to the stream...

Literally in OPs post.

...

sorry i am retarded

And here i was hoping for one of the guys being a sacrificial offering.
Guessing the Norwegians are confident the oil still flows un-appeased.

Every year first saturday after the 23 of june, in Ålesund. Lots of people drink, and if you look normal and have social skills, you'll be able to befriend some norwegians who will let you join them in their boat to watch it up close. You can nevertheless go to the location too, it's lots of people there drinking.

Live on youtube

youtube.com/watch?v=8yGg-ODGnbw

she's inside :^D

hope it doesn't tip over

ok I am socially normal and scandis always seem nice when I meet them irl, I will try and go next year, marked in my diary. ty user

thanks a lot britbong

much better link

Are these fire common today like majbrasor?

Good, if you make a thread in here I'll meet you myself. Just don't kill me.

Most commonly on St. Hans, which was the day before yesterday. But the fire we're watching now is traditionally like says

cool, i'll try to remember
see you in 1 year :)

>tfw youtube stream starts playing norge music

Don't you guys celebrate midsommar? ;o

very emotional

No, sadly not. :(

thought it was swedish first

See you, lad. :^)

>tfw you don't own a yacht
>tfw you have no cute arian kids
>tfw you sit at home drinking alone today instead of being htere

Or, well yes, but it's called "Saint Hans eve"

why the hell are they watering it?

To control the rate of combustion. They don't want the foundation to burn too fast.

Also, people dont wanna get wet, so it turns out safer.

is it raining?

also why are they blasting water onto the bonfire?

>if we spray water on it maybe it will burn faster

t.norcuck education

what a bunch of autists

IT STARTED

the youtube stream is 90% boats 10% fire

Our midsummer shifts dates

The first stage is pretty slow and cool. After it over-ignites it will basically go foom. When they water it, they make sure it doesn't just fall over before it has time to ignite all the way.

maybe they should do the same on the other side so it burns equally, else it might tip over

Do you guy think these people know that some creeps all around the world watch them on their boats?

it has some nice angles though

Because they don't want it all to catch fire and tip over. The goal is to let it burn all the way down, but that won't happen.

I think the plan is to make sure it tips to one direction, but I'm not sure. Maybe they'll take the rescue boat to the other side later on.

No, I actually don't think so!

have faith, it's gonna happen!

I don't think they suspect that at all

eat shit and die german scumbag

It gonna fall on the boats

>this is the most exciting thing Norwegians are going to see all year
>"Bonfire tips over again" bound to be the headline in every major publication tomorrow, relegating Brexit to page two
I'm watching, though.

Drown yourself :DDD

>Zara Larsson (music) in the background

SWEDEN MENTIONED

dunno the lady on the side of the boat seems to keep looking straight into the camera

>25th of june
>everyone's wearing jackets and hats

wow i'm glad i don't have to live on the west coast

Well, maybe they do now.

She probably just thinks it's the local news or something. If she knew she would be observed in the tab adjacent to loli porn and futa dogs...

Slow TV is best TV.

Let's hope. But it's gonna take a while, I hope you have some snacks for this great entertainment.

Pic related: they do not use anything but their own hands to build this. It's why they also are so proud when they finish. It's a whole community that do this every year, and they have so for many decades.

The girl on top of the roof in red is the one with attitude who might fuck a migrant one day, her sister (?) is that a bit weird girl who will be hotter than her, but only around the end of their highschool.

W-why?

Listening to anything special during this?
youtu.be/KuwpQc6Diqs I suggest this

by the thing is on fire

It's the wind. Out by the fjords there's nothing to block it. Chills you to the bone without a jacket and something to cover your ears.

Wardruna is much better than this Heen guy.

Norwegian 9/11

The yt-feed have some norwegian music right now

wtf did they just say it was the last?

>tfw I see my boat out there, which my older sister is using. I was too beta to tell her no. I could be out there watching myself right now.
