Why do people from the UK constantly use """Uni""" as if it's a broadly accepted colloquialism?

I posted this last night, but got no good responses:

I'm not going to say why this happened, but lets just say that I deleted a large Windows partition in Gparted and now my computer won't even start. I try to go into the boot menu, and nothing happens. I try to go into BIOS menu, and nothing happens. I even tried to boot directly from a Linux Mint USB, and nothing happens.
I can't remove the hard drive from the laptop, so I don't know what to do. Please help!

Pic related is similar to what it looks like when the boot freezes.

Sounds pretty bad. Is the hard drive soldered in?

>trying to get usenet access on my phone
>groundhog is outdated crap
>termux+mutt doesn't have the right patches
>termux doesn't have any other nntp reader
>play store is full of money grabbery

Is the only solution left to manually build it on my phone ?

UEFI? Looks like you'll need to take out the hard drive. I recall an issue with Loonix where it could nuke your computer and render it unusable similar to what you're experiencing.

>but lets just say that I deleted a large Windows partition in Gparted
Why?

Anyway, go to BIOS, change boot order to your USB.

>I try to go into BIOS menu, and nothing happens

I'm not sure. I don't know if I should open it up to check.

Can't. I press the BIOS menu, and the directions at the bottom of the screen disappear, but nothing happens.

Can you disassemble the laptop?
Also use a USB desktop to enter your BIOS.

>desktop
keyboard*

I COULD disassemble it, but I don't want to fuck anything up permanently. Tried connecting it to a keyboard, and the same thing happens.

When will video cards get smaller?

Changing the hdd isn't that bad normally

Im pretty short of cash right now and im considering selling my PSP Go. Honestly I very seldomly use it and the only game Ive actually enjoyed was Danganronpa. Ive heard the snes emulators work like shit, and I cant think of any exclusive worth keeping it for. Keeping it just for nes and gameboy emulators is kinda a dumb idea. Still I have a hard time letting material things go, im not a hoarder tho. So should I sell it? Can anyone recommend me some good exclusive titles to see if I should keep it?

As in thinner or smaller?

Single slot GPUs are rare because they are not good enough at cooling.
Single fan GPUs are bad in general because they lack VRM cooling and use a shitty small heatsink.

Well you have to reset your BIOS/CMOS somehow, one thing is not being able to enter to your OS and other is not being able to enter to BIOS.

Leave F2 pressed when you turn it on.

You mean get a new HDD? Because if this HDD is dead, then I'll just buy a new laptop.

I did leave F2 pressed. Nothing happens.

Its impossible that you killed your HDD by deleting a partition.

You just deleted the Windows partition, but not your boot partition so its trying to boot to the non existent windows partition.
Nothing is damaged, just fucked boot order.

Is the amazon prime membership on sale on prime day? I don't wanna pay $100

That's what I think, but nothing is happening. No boot menu, no BIOS. The order of booting had the USB as the primary boot, and even that doesn't do anything.

Nah, take it out and fix it on an other pc or get an connector

So I just create a new partition in it? How should I format it?

Just got offered an internship position for a small company that makes websites for clients using Wordpress. The position involves just SEO for around 6 hours a day for no pay.
I plan to be in web development, software development, or cybersecurity. Should I go for the internship or would it be a waste of time?

Well you could reset the CMOS (removing the internal button battery and inserting it again).

Or try to enter BIOS somehow, dont press it as soon you see it, leave F2 or ESC pressed since you turn your PC on.

What the fuck

Could work, maybe you have to fix the boot loader afterwards

Waste of time, my dude.

Congrats, is the NSA recruitment number

Thanks.
I asked the seo specialist I would be working under if SEO was essential to being a web developer, and he said of course with a long winded speech. I guess he was just lying in my face the whole time or didn't know what he was saying.

Bonjour Mr. Anderson.

Well, SEO is old-school /snakeoil/. Essentially, SEO itself is ensuring that your site is crawled by search engines correctly and that you show up in search results. You might bid on keywords to show up first, but that's pretty much it.

You could be using your time more wisely on Freelancer instead of 6 hrs a day doing almost nothing.

Python or HTML5 for a not CS oriented person?

I understand that Python is a scripting oriented language, but if someone would really want to they can program more complex programs too.

HTML5 is shilled to be capable of supporting 2D games and stuff, but can it actually do tasks like pulling data out of online pages or files for analysis or anything that'd require more than displaying pictures and text.

Still, HTML5 is probably more portable?

Considering I have a portfolio of some sites I created, is there any tips on becoming successful on Freelancer?
I have considered doing websites for local businesses, some for free, in order to build some "experience".

For what purpose?

I have a very stupid question, I admit I'm tech illiterate.
I hope somebody can answer my question though.

I have a sim card that I've had for quite a while now (like years), I've had this on jailbroken phones, I had this when downloading stupid stuff on my phone like apps that spammed ads or froze up my phone, visited websites that locked up my phone etc.

I now have a new phone, but I wonder if it is best to buy a new sim card maybe because perhaps there are any virusses or something on the sim card?
Is this possile?

What would you guys say?
Answers much appreciated!

im looking for a proxy addon where i can change my ip with for chrome

i had a addon once 3 years ago and i remember it had like a fire symbol but im not sure

I was being a little lazy when recommending Freelancer, it has its own headaches. A personal network reaps greater rewards; sites for local businesses or non-profits usually garner more leads if you get into the right network of business owners. My brother used to do this type of work on the side for years, and it started from some hair care products site he did on a whim.

hey
I would like to buy an xbox one S and would like to use this here at home
I dont know if my xbox one S could get infected with virusses though?
in the network is also my sisters computer and a network harddrive, my sister has a lot of virus on her computer
could this get on my smart tv or my xbox one s?
please answer

How do I remove the internal button battery? Here's a pic of what this shit looks like.

>pulling data out of online pages or files for analysis or anything that'd require more than displaying pictures and text
Doing a lot of things that I do right now on paper but it'd be faster to have a program that'd do that for me. Including pulling words from online dictionaries and stuff.

I'm not sure, but SIM cards actually don't store this sort of data.

Anyone know why my ram (rated 1600mhz) is showing at 800mhz? I'm pretty nooby with the software side of computers.

The coin like battery in the middle of the motherboard.

Apps download to the phones internal memory, and rarely on a removable SD card. The sim card of your phone will not have been affected by anything you downloaded.

Okay so I will have no problem because of a possibly infected sim card when I put it in my new phone?
Thanks for your reply!

Ok very nice, thanks a lot for your reply.

I can't get it out. Am I supposed to press those 2 buttons at the bottom?

I want to buy a single board computer. Is the raspberry pi recommended or should I buy something else?

mistranslation from arabic would be my guess

1600 MHz is not frequency, it is "effective" frequency, a frequency of SDR memory with samish performance.

>pulling data out of online pages or files for analysis or anything that'd require more than displaying pictures and text

Python is great for such tasks

I see a 980 ti for around 330$, should I jump on it for 1440p?

Buy the raspberry pi 3, but dont use their shit OS. You can actually load one up with kali.

Does JTAG effectively neutralize all attempts at physical security in production, consumer Intel processors?

There's practically no documentation available about this on the web. I can't work out whether production silicon has fuses blown.

So my GPU was dying and now i just replaced the thermal paste hoping to save it but now it'll report temps of 91c on regular gta5 play and the fans spinning on 100%. altho when i look inside the case, it's completely cool and i can still get random crashes, where everything goes black and i have to restart the pc.

Do you think it's a sensor that's fucked? The themal paste is working, i can tell but the numbers the temp is giving me are just flat wrong.

Ok, I pressed ESC as it boots up, and it has actually done something. I get a screen that says something about "Inspyre H20" and then it gives me my CPU details. What can I do here?

How can i bypass this im from germany i tried polish proxys and still cant get it to work

Assuming your VPN is working, have you tried deleting cookies?

yes when i use a polish proxy i dont get this message but the video just keeps on loading but nothing happens

That's probably because the proxy is too slow. I'm guessing it's a free proxy?

yes im using foxyproxy as addon

is there a diffrent way to bypass this or only proxy?

Why doesn't clearing everything through Firefox's "Clear Recent History" menu (including cookies, cache, offline website data) delete bookmark icons? I'd really rather not keep refreshing Firefox.

is there an easy way to download youtube videos as webm files

Try moving out of Germany

Every time I start up my PC there an NVIDIA OpenGL SDK process running that makes my GPU fans work like crazy. What's up with that?

What can a person who has access to your ip address do other than ddos and locating you?

how convert mkv to webm

Im trying to install a dual boot why the fuck is my free space so damn big but I don't even have 10gb to shrink.
>scanned the drive
>optimized it
>turned of system protection of the drive
>nothing yet
I moved like 400gb to an external drive so I'm guessing the traces of those files are what's limiting me?

ffmpeg

thank you

Wats a good 2tb HDD?

First partition on my usb overlaps the second by 33 blocks, preventing me from installing live isos on it. I tried filling the flash drive with zeros, random data, creating the msdos structure, using every option gparted had. The only thing worked so far was using DISKPART on Windows to wipe the drive. The thing is, I don't have access to that Windows partition anymore and I couldn't find anything on Google. I am stuck on my Loonix partition at the moment. Please help.

Is there enough of a speedup from 2TB firecuda SSHD that I should get it over a cheaper 3TB barracuda? Also whats the improvement in barracuda pro, I couldn't see any significant differences.

resize it?

My internet speed is great however, everybody in the house even when hardwired gets booted from the internet every 10-15 minutes without fail. I've updated my router and even re positioned the antennas.
Where do I go from here? Does it have anything to do with the modem? Mine is a decade old. If not, what other avenues should I look through?

>SSHD
Hybrid drives are shit, just get an hdd

If you want more speed, get separate SSD and HDD

What is a Lenovo equivalent of Samsung t580?

Depends on how good yer firewall is.

Could be your modem. Probably some shit with your ISP though. I'd give em a call.

...

Yeah I already did. They blamed my router and the people they referred me to told me to update the router which I did. They probably don't want me to shake them down for a new updated modem.

Snake a cat 6 through your power outlet

I seem to have a hardware failure, symptoms are
>no post, no beeps, no video, power cycles
>if cpu fan is connected to CPU_FAN, it spins very slowly, sometimes it fails to spin up at all during a power cycle
>if cpu fan is connected to any SYS_FAN it operates normally, but still no post/no beep
>short beeps without ram sticks (ram failure as per mobo beep codes)
>same with another, 100% working PSU, albeit it has low wattage (350 vs 550, but I suppose 350 should be enough for i5 3470 on bare motherboard)

I have only PSU, CPU, CPU Fan and 1 ram of stick connected to the motherboard right now, and have the mobo outside of the case on a wooden desk, and running it by shorting PWR with a screwdriver. I have two sticks but swapping them out has no effect.

I'm kinda pulling my hairs now, if I had a CPU failure, would I still get RAM failure from motherboard? How do I diagnose the problem further without buying new PSU/CPU/Mobo? Does low voltage on CPU_FAN mean motherboard failure (I haven't tested it yet with a multimeter)? Can mobo refuse to post without cpu fan spinning up properly?

Forgot to mention, tried shorting bios reset pins and removing battery

The only thing that changed is that mobo forgot that it was powered on (so it stopped powering on automatically when psu is turned on)

> the paste is working, I can tell.
> reporting high temps but fan is spinning and case is cool
Sounds more like the paste is not working and no heat is being transferred away from the processor.

so Im learning python as a general intro to programming. So far, we use a browser based training module/IDE. At some point, will I be able to create a program with python that can run on computers that do not have python installed on them?

Depends if your copper is good. I got like 700mb at my last house with the ones recommended on the wirecutter

There are installers for python that bundle the python executable plus your script and all required scripts into one binary, so yes.

Yes, and there are many different ways to do that

I have an old hdd that had windows on it that I started using as a storage drive.

How do I purge all the os stuff without losing muh animoo and other files?

Copy the good stuff somewhere else, format , and copy back?

I don't want to do this for obvious time consuming reasons

Well just delete everything outside of your porn folder
If you've it somewhere in "My Documents" then move it to the top level

I fucking hate you all.

We love you too!

Thanks bb I try my hardest.

Delete the Windows, Program Files, Program Files (x86), ProgramData etc folders and whatever else you want to get rid of

Depends on conditions, WiFi or MoCA may be better options.

Alright doing solved the overlapping blocks problem (thank you) but a new one arose. Basically I am getting this error when I'm trying to create a live usb

Syntax error at line 5 for drive A: column 9 in file /etc/mtools.conf: unrecognized keyword
/usr/bin/syslinux: failed to create ldlinux.sys
