Just adblocking, don't mind me

>just adblocking, don't mind me.

Fuck off, shill

Excellent thread.

a thread died for this

nobody here reads you wall street jewrnal get lost

it'll still be a logical fallacy no matter how many times you post it

nobody is entitled to infect my computer or brain with malware no matter if they think they "earned" it

These threads are good but you'll get more replies if you equate theft to piracy rather than adblocking, it's a common enough comparison in the real world for the autists to believe you genuinely hold that position, so they will come out in droves to explain to you why you're wrong. Every time I post it it's a guaranteed 300 reply thread, mods don't delete it either.

Then get off of websites you don't directly support

For adblocking to be stealing, would require that adblocking deprive you of money. Most ads are so utterly terrible (and/or bloated, and/or full of malware) that if anything they make me LESS likely to buy the product in question. So any "loss" from adblocking is utterly insignificant. You'd be better off just not wasting so much money on ads in the first place, and instead using it to actually make a product worth buying.

Big companies don't put out ads to get you to buy the product on the spot. They know that images appearing more commonly in someones life makes them more comfortable and trusting of said image. Hence million dollar billboards with little more than a logo

Then you'd basically have a dead internet. I mean, think about it, why not just stop wasting money on ads and instead have websites charge a fee to view them, equal to however much you think you're being "robbed" of by your ads being blocked. Do you really think that would be a viable business model?

>making website to make mooney out of ads
Why don't you find better way to earn money?
>But mah jewtubers who play all day and let me watch them play
Fuck off.

It deprives the webmaster of money because they don't get paid if people aren't seeing the ads.

Also this, every brainlet says "hurr advertising doesn't affect me" as if the point of it is to get you to click on it/rush to the store and buy it straight away. The point is to expose you to the brand, making you subconsciously more likely to pick that brand the next time you are buying a certain type of product.

>Ads
>donations/subscriptions
pick one both work just the first is dominant right now

Most of the things that are advertised online are things that I don't buy on a regular basis, if at all. And when I do buy them, it usually comes down to what's there in the store, brand loyalty tends not to come up at all unless you've had an extremely positive or negative interaction with them in the past.

...

...

>It deprives the webmaster of money because they don't get paid if people aren't seeing the ads.
So where does that money come from exactly?

I seriously doubt Sup Forums, Reddit, or Facebook would work on the subscription model.

I want nothing more than for the web to become unprofitable.

Its not brand loyalty its basic subconscious manipulation. You feel comfortable in your home and with peoples faces you recognize because its familiar and you know about them, these companies put out ads to emulate this but with their brand.

I bet you buy brand-name groceries that are functionally no different to the, much cheaper, supermarket own-brand equivalent.

can I love you OP?
because I need to

Yeah, the supermarket's cheese is just as good as the brand-name ones. They totally don't taste like a hobo's ass.

I wish I got paid to block ads.

>mute television and go into another room during commerical break
>police kick down the door and arrest me for stealing the content

>just selling licenses, don't mind me.

stop posting these stupid threads.

The point being that in most cases, there aren't even two brands to choose from, so even a subconscious bias wouldn't have an effect. Sure, the store may stock multiple brands of the same general type of product, but usually there's only one that fully fits your specific needs.

These fucking threads are only up because faggots keep replying to them.

It doesn't fucking matter if you sage, just don't reply.

I only use an as blocker to make the internet fucking useable. Redirects...pop ups and the like are foul awful things that prevent me from using the internet.

You cannot visit many site without an ad blocker. They simply are not able to work.

Fuck off, this should replace the current sticky

I hope every person who ever called themselves a "content creator" drops dead

Wait what? The website provides content for free, they also put ads on the site. I am under no obligation to read the ads. Just like if I get a shitty "local newspaper" with two articles and 8 pages of ads, it doesn't matter what I read. Its cost is the only thing I am obliged to do before reading it.

What the fuck are you smoking?

Reminder to speak as little as possible about adblocking around normies.

As long as adblock is not very well known, sites will tolerate it.

>replying
>saging with an image
good job

Here I'll uninstall my ad blocker...when you prevent ads so insane it make the internet literally unusable without one.

I don't use an ad blocker to deprive anyone of money. I use it to make the fucking internet function properly.

An ad blocker fuses a serious problem. If it was fixed I woulnt need it anymore.

>when you prevent ads so insane it make the internet literally unusable without one.
It isn't 2005 anymore.

>dont mind me im just not helping this person out even though he was really hospitable to me and offered me virtually free services in his own home

People wouldnt accept irl advertisements if they jumped out of an alley and tried to inject you with heroin or aids

Thats literally what ad networks do nowadays. And the people who employ them have the fucking gall to get bitchy when people start blocking them?

Fuck yourselves.

Bullshit.

Pop ups still rampant.
Fake game ads everywhere.
"Download by clicking here' ads diguised as buttons to fool you.
Loud ass auto playing video ads about genital heroes medication.
Wierd scrolling ads.
Website redirects.

And let's not forget the biggest offender...click x to close ad...x redirects you to website that won't let you leave so must shit down entire fucking browser and all tabs to make it work again.

Maybe it's not as bad as 2005 and its drive by downloads...but it's possibly even more insidious.

Ads are broken. My internet experience is broken by ads. Its a major problem.

Ad blocker is the bandage that covers the gaping open bloody wound. Ad blocker heals the damage and makes the internet useable again.

This
The intrusive ad problem HAS been solved largely due to the standardisation of ad distribution through services like Google ads. The only place you're going to see intrusive/malware ads are on sites that can't get legitimate ads on them such as porn websites and torrent sites.

>Pop ups still rampant.
That's why you use a pop-up blocker, which is a seperate piece of software to an adblocker.

>Fake game ads everywhere.
..Don't click them? They're just a square in a corner on the page somewhere

>"Download by clicking here' ads diguised as buttons to fool you.
Not a problem on legitimate sites

>Loud ass auto playing video ads about genital heroes medication.
I encounter obnoxious autoplaying multimedia far more often on places like news sites than in ads

>Wierd scrolling ads.
Such as?

>Website redirects.
Not a problem on legitimate sites.

>click x to close ad...x redirects you to website that won't let you leave so must shit down entire fucking browser and all tabs to make it work again.
Not 2005 anymore.

>Just closing my eyes to the ads, don't mind me.

Bull
Fucking
Shit

I still get those redirecting ads on fucking eBay

>he doesn't use Safari on macOS High Sierra

The real criminals are the people trying to force all these bullshit ads down your throat. Pop up ads. Fake website overlays that open pop up add no matter where you click. Apps that install malware and browser add ons without it being your intent. They are ruining the internet for everybody

Sup Forums talks about nintendo all the tiem

Obvious troll is obvious.

The internet is broken with ads
Deal with it.

Give me 1 (one) (uno) (ein) (un) (unum) (一つ) (一) (oдин) reason why using an adblocker is unethical.

>cross site scripted malware and tracking software = ads

>OMGTHIEVERY!!1

>Visit an old site I used to spend a lot of time on but haven't been to in a while
>They beg me to disable my ad blocker
>Give in
>Next page I load runs some drive-by Java plugin malware
>System is fucked with malware posing as Antivirus software

Ad networks cannot be trusted. If I can't find a way to view a site without an ad blocker, I just won't use it anymore.

Make me stop. You've lost every battle so far. Molon Labe, mother fucker.

>having Java installed
fucking deserve it retard

This was years ago when people actually used Java, shithead. There was also no option to not install the plugin when you updated Java.

Listen, if you idiots just put a bunch of files up on an HTTP server, don't be surprised if people decide they don't need to download and interpret / render tham all.

Stop serving files to any browser which connects.

Paywall that shit or shut the fuck up Schlomo.

Put a paywall or shut the fuck up. The web is a pull medium, if you setup a public server and put files there, it's expected people will download them.

You can't justify loading elements in my browser I've never asked for. If I typed to access abc.com, I want my browser to access abc.com, not google-analytics.com.

i have not had java installed on my computer since 2003, i think

sorry?

thinks the internet is tv or radio meme kys

>years ago
wow it's almost like....woah....things have changed since then

pull medium

Not taking something that is offered isn't stealing. It's not wanting whatever is being offered. The internet is a pull medium, not a push medium

Truuuuuuu

ad niggers btfo

More hits, more shekels for Jewro. Plus, mods are scared Sup Forumspussies will have a fit again and cry free speech violation (whilst unironically supporting the abolishment of net neutrality).

Or, ironically, actually.

Adblocking doesn't go far enough. We need to use scripts that autoclick ads to make them worthless. Only then will subscription modeled websites succeed.

What's worse, OP, your shitty website or the shit you shill on it? And how mad are you that I'm not buying either

>pre-2000 net was a dead internet.
I want the hobbyist net back.

So Gelbooru changed their ads again. Anyone have a new uBlock filter that works? I've been fighting it to no avail.

But the thread you killed was an ad!

Gtfo schlomo

If a site wants to run an ad that they put together with a sponser, there is nothing an ad blocker can do about it. It would look like content.

Ad blockers block the endless ad market fuck cluster of endless 3rd, 4th, party etc. involvement and malware tracking and stalking bullshit. It's the endgame of unregulated market that ad blocking helps mitigate. It's like a lawless market. They didn't regulate themselves and it's what they deserve.

I will NOT look at ads. I will actively AVOID the product if you force me to look at an ad.
Go fuck yourself, I'd rather have no internet than looking at ads.

>Turn off adblocker
>Audio ads everywhere
They made their bed

If that's true that should be in the the TOS before you load the actual page.

Man, I wish I got money for blocking stupid motherfuckers ads.

>use no-script
>websites now enjoyable
>no audio ads
>no video ads I have to find and shut off
>page loads 238474892374 times faster, can now see content I came for without having to wait for ad networks to serve up ads.

or

>turn off no-script
>page loads slow as a turtle shitting molasses.
>video ads load first somehow, screaming at me
>can't listen to music 'cause I have to mute everything until I find the offending ad
>still waiting for the page to load, still cant read what I came for.
>decide to go buy book on what I'm looking for 'cause it takes forever to get to the actual content because it's taking forever to load all of the fuckin ads.

fuck ads.

Are you one of those swej that gets paid to spread your company's propaganda?

This.

if all websites use something like Carbon ads, no one would use an adblocker, I whitelist all these websites

There's literally nothing wrong with the user choosing what content he wants to see.

If i can ignore ads on TV, ads in the streets,
and block phone advertising, then you are no different. Especially since the Internet is primarily a communication medium where monetary gains are a privilege and not a right.
It's not my responsibility to prop your site
by inconveniencing myself, opening my computer to harm, and wasting my bandwidth on ads.
It's not even a moral or ethical responsibility since you are a foreign faggot and helping my country's competition is in itself immoral and unethical.
In fact, if you have come to the Internet with the intent of making money solely on advertising, then you are either a newfaggot to the Internet or an idiot who doesn't understand what the primary purpose of the Internet is, in which case you deserve to fail based on ignorance and arrogance in sum.

He's just returning her wallet.
