Wayland is, the drivers it needs aren't.

All the drivers that provide 3d acceleration require some non-free code, usually in the form of binary blobs.
And since you can't run it as easily as X on the framebuffer I just prefer to use X at this point.
Not that it can't be done, but it's all too hacky (at least on Parabola).
