The basic question you need to ask yourself is this: "Am i installing Linux for chicks, or am I installing linux for money?" If the answer is chicks, then install Fedora. But if the answer is money, install Debian. If you'd rather die a poor virgin, install Ubuntu.

Netinstall takes a long time to download packages during OS installation. Torrent the DVD image and install from it. After installing, mount the ISO image and add it as a repository in your sources.list file.
