Is there a way to download the mp3 file from a youtube video only with youtube-dl? I read up theres ways but you have to download a converter and all that. But for some reason I felt i used to download the mp3 only I just forgot what to do. Anyone know?
Is there a way to download the mp3 file from a youtube video only with youtube-dl...
Other urls found in this thread:
ffmpeg.org
convert2mp3.net
github.com
twitter.com
RTFM
youtube-dl --extract-audio --audio-format mp3
next time RTFM
I understand this, but it wont play on my pc, has to be converted it says.
then don't download it as mp3 - simpel
man youtube-dl
it actually downloads as webm, and thats the worst because im trying to put it on my phone.
youtube-dl -f bestaudio
ffmpeg
offliberty.com
This doesnt work anymore unfortunately. It doesnt register the youtube videos.
well shit :(
what are you gonna do about it?
I'll make some calls, pull some strings....
>it says.
What says?
It's 2017, we're on an IMAGEboard, but you still couldn't bother to attach a screenshot of the error.
lol f**k you bro.
...
>ffprobe or avprobe not found. Please install one.
Well, please install one...
Youtube streams are split into audio and video, just download audio stream, thought I dont think it will be mp3 (i think its aac or something like that nad will have to be converted use ffmpeg for that)
I didnt realize you guys used ffmpeg. But if thats the best way to do it then so be it.
what the fuck it literally tells you what to do
i am genuinely mad
how dumb are you?
youtube-dl uses ffmpeg and lame for mp3 extraction. Those shouldn't be more than 20 MiB. Install those and use the command above.
Yeah but I didn't have to do that before
Which do you recommend?
please can you attempt to do something without being spoonfed?
youtube-dl -F to list available formats
>choose wisely
youtube-dl -f
youtube-dl -f +
I recommend not using MP3s.
FLAC if possible, ogg vorbis if space is an issue
youtube-dl has a gooey version for folks like you
>transcoding to FLAC from a lossy source
Hello to the Mumbai Ripping Boiz
This is 10/10 sysadmin bait, I had to physically stop myself from raging.
>youtube-dl
>FLAC
what are you doing nigger
AAAAAA the rage
man youtube-dl
??
>Well, please install one
>linked the wrong one
hmmmm
Problem with this is there are no instructions. I extracted the whole file to my youtube-dl directory but now im not sure what to do.
the state of Sup Forums in the year of our lord
great post man, you contributed tremendously to the thread.
...
you too friend
$ youtube-dl -F # list available formats
$ youtube-dl -x # download only audio (iirc best by default)
Obviously you can't download mp3 because youtube itself does not serve mp3. Convert it by yourself.
Okay that makes sense. I downloaded the ffmpeg thing like an user said up above, but i am lost from here. There isnt instructions
YouTube has max audio quality of 192 kb/s
youtube-dl is better.
Get libmp3lame package: free mp3 library, but it's not dependency for ffmpeg
$ ffmpeg -i input.file -codec:a libmp3lame output.mp3
If you already have ffmpeg, youtube-dl can use it to automatically convert to another format
youtube-dl -x --audio-format mp3 url
still says ffprovbe and av prove is now found.
...
How?
Same result, less processing on your end
>Command line in 2017
So this is the power of linux?
How is "a random internet link" better than a program that uses your computer to download the best quality?
windows
Listen here nigger. You completely ignored my point and made a strawman with the website.
Same quality, yet less processing, and less downloading for the computer.
So your argument is that random youtube2mp3 website is better on your computer and faster than youtube-dl?
You passive-aggressive fucking cuntstain. Do you not even realize how retarded you sound?
It converts the video on their server.
You just download the mp3.
The mp3 <
the whole video in file size
Not to mention you can't even figure out the "random Linux package" you found.
Also your prevalent strawman shows that you have no argumentative skills, coupled with the fact you're technologically deficient.
Revert back to Windows.
>how dumb are you?
>c:\
Didnt mean to be rude, sorry.
Downloading the better compressed aac with youtube-dl < downloading an mp3 from the website plus the website's HTML though.
I guess at processing power, transcoding aac to mp3 locally loses to the browser rendering the mp3-download website.
Hello Randy. Thank you for the evidence of copyright theft. Please get your affairs in order, the party van will be along to pick you up shortly.
Love, Hollywood
M8 on Sup Forums I don't hold any punches against perceived passive-aggressive hecklers.
Realize the strawman, and just don't use it if you want to be taken seriously
In my defense though who would think this is genuinely trying to understand someone's viewpoint given the context.
because ffmpeg executables are not in the PATH env
It's these sort of threads that make me hate the retard posters on Sup Forums like the OP
is it due to summer? i doubt it
A simple task, shitting up my imageboard and causing confusion
This can only be the work of lost redditors imo
Hahahahaha. Found the iFag
youtube-dl -ciw --extract-audio --audio-format mp3 -o "%(title)s.%(ext)s"
you're welcome
sage ignore
the fuck is happening in this thread
>found the iFag
I think youre clost bud.
What did i do wrong?
Are you fucking illiterate?
>saging with an image
works on my machine
oh you put the link after it all? I figured youd put the link in the title
okay it worked but it isnt read by my machine for whatever reason.
You fucking retard that is obviously windows. Kys
Even that's not an excuse; we're on a whole new level of incompetent here...
>There isnt instructions
Yes there are OP. Very detailed instructions. Stop asking us and read them. github.com
If you cannot handle this, the command line is not for you.
/thread
I didnt realize people unironically used windows still.
YOUTUBE DOES NOT HAVE MP3
NONE
ZIP
NADA
you can use ffmpeg for that, then you will have a lossy mp3 from a lossy youtube from a lossy mp3
>good job
