unironically, it's one of the few things that i wish Linux had.

Can't wait for ad supported paint with a 6.99 a year ad free version

paint is the best program for simple crops and minor edits. how can they hope to improve this?

...

Gimp is the worst fucking piece of software in history.

green is my pepper

how do I make a circle in gmip??

I'm too dumb to figure out Photoshop, so this works just fine for me

Ironically this looks like it was made in Inkscape.

GIMP is the single greatest answer to the question "Why is free software bad".

Stop posting it.

(You)

but how do i make a circle in gimp?? C'mon, surely it cannot be difficult

They can't, anything they try to replace it with will take 10x as long to load and will be a Windows Store app that has 2/3rds of the features missing and has 3 seconds of input latency.

Paint3D

Didn't they just update it in the newest windows 10 update? What's the source for this?

Stop spouting memes.
Make an effort and learn a program you don't know.

Create a circle in Inkscape, save it and import it into GIMP. Tada!

shareX

anything you can't do in that you likely weren't going to do in paint anyway.

dumbass, GIMP is the """photoshop killer"""

The mspaint killer is supposed to be Pinta

Kolourpaint is pretty good but I like MS Paint a bit more. I have no idea how Microsoft plans to improve Paint, expecting the Windows app version to be garbage.

>GIMP is the """photoshop killer"""
Stop trying to spread this myth, even if you're joking.

I like GIMP, but it's a bad paint replacement. It's nowhere near as lightweight as Paint.

That's horrible.

When a fucking drawing program (krita) is better at image manipulating than the "GNU imagine manipulation program", it's really time to reconsider if GIMP is even necessary or not.

GIMP is necessary to remind other devs of artistic free software how important it is to actually listen to the artists actually using their product instead of dismissing their issues with WONTFIXes.

It's the only one i'll acknowledge, because Krita (a more accurate photoshop killer) fucking sucks. I mean it really fucking sucks. I had to redraw this 4 times because the program randomly closes itself after around 5-7 minutes. Trying to save anything also causes it to close.

Look at how it handles pen pressure. this is with every pen, in every setting, stabilization or not. fucking gaudy. But hey, atleast there's a circle tool :^)

try drawing a green pepper in photoshop

I've used gimp, krita, and photoshop, and I like krita and photoshop and hate gimp

Krita isn't a Photoshop killer either. The sooner the free software world acknowledges that there is not proper FOSS Photoshop replacement, the quicker things will start to change.

what is this meme?

That makes no fucking sense.

agree to disagree, but all things considered, GIMP and Pinta are the things that work for me. GIMP is beefier, though, so it can't be compared to MS-Paint.

GIMP is the best i've seen, though. Then again, I don't know of anything else beyond GIMP, Krita, and Pinta, and to be even more transparent, I tend to use Paint Tool SAI running Wine more often then I use any FOSS alternative. So if there is another option, I would love to hear it.

>The sooner the free software world acknowledges that there is not proper FOSS Photoshop replacement, the quicker things will start to change.

This is one of those statements that probably sounded good when you wrote it but really means nothing.

>GIMP is the """photoshop killer"""
Not when CS2 is free and works better than GIMP.

technically, Every version of Photoshop is free if you dont mind a little keygen magic

pirating is morally, ethically, and legally wrong.

then why did you suggest getting CS2 for free?

no, adobe releasing it without the license verification in place doesn't make it free, you still need a license to use it legally, they just don't want to run the license server anymore

pirating is not stealing, it's digitally borrowing.

Nice, I might just replace my pirated photoshop cc with that. Freehand MX is free in the same way.

using this without purchasing it is not any different to using a pirated copy

I think my dad had cs2 or 3 back in the day, he doesn't use it any more so I might as well.
Although I really just want a non-pirated version for aesthetic purposes.

...

what you mean is a crack-less or serial-only version, it's no less a pirated copy than whatever you have now

>I think my dad had cs2 or 3 back in the day, he doesn't use it any more so I might as well.
then you need to do a license transfer, also, if he uses a newer version of CS, he can't transfer the license to just CS2, it's all or nothing

being legit is a pain in the ass, isn't it?

lmao

yea sure that's what I mean

...

was gonna post this

Nice.

circle select tool in gimp.
click selection to path.
export path as circle.svg
open circle.svg in inkscape.

No, it isn't a meme, it isn't even an opinion, it is a fucking fact.

Learning a shit interface is not a useful use of time.
You'd be better pirating fucking Photoshop and running in VM than learning GIMP.
You're not going to get a job for having learned the shitheap that is GIMP UI, made by literal autists that cannot comprehend that people want to do things in as little clicks as possible, not as fucking many as possible.

The circle making hilarity is just one facet of how shitty the interface is.
There's a million different shitty ideas all over the place that make it cumbersome as fuck to do simple work, never mind advanced work.
God damn, I wanted to make a very simple GIF and it took 10 times as long as it did when I used some shitty icon maker program from the early 2000s that wasn't even fucking bought, a trial! (Awicons)

I legit use MSPaint more than I do GIMP.
In fact, when drawing, I even use MSPaint and fucking Irfanview if I need to smooth things out or do any funky filtering.
Draw at 4k resolution, filter, resize down to target resolution(s).
THAT awful convoluted shit over GIMP because it is quicker and simpler.
Fuck. GIMP.

Instead, GIMP is pointed at as a reason by developers why they shouldn't bother implementing a real Photoshop replacement (GIMP is already covering it), preventing any progress.

Baby duck syndrome. Blame gimp if you want, but the problem is baby duck syndrome.

What's a good replacement for MSPaint in Linux?

The problem is a shitty interface with a complacent community.
If these fucktards had actually used literally ANY other large image manipulator, they'd realize how awful GIMP is.

GIMP is Karli Kloss rectangle tier.
