I know westerners often complain about we don't say "I love you" even between wife and husband each other, but that's simply cultural difference. Natsume Souseki, one of the greatest litterateur of Japan in 20th century translated "I love you" to "look, the moon is beautiful" (「月がきれいですね」) because he understood this words can't be translated to Japanese in literally.
