If you want a gaming machine you know 7700k is the real CPU. It's not even a debate, any amd chip with shitty ipc and mediocre frequency can't compete.
The 7700K will only beat a Ryzen chip with a $100 240mm AIO to OC it near 5ghz, or with a delid to fix it's thermal issues.
The Ryzen chip also has more headroom and is only 40-50% utilized in today's games for getting similar fps
