first for nigger phone

>My mexican Moto G5 costs the same as a Moto G5 Plus in the US.

Fortunately this shit has removable battery and hopefully it will last me 10 years. Right?

>still no nokia 7

My Nexus 5x bootlooped on me the other day. Received a replacement but I'm almost certain that it's going to happen again. Looks like it's time to upgrade.

Essential phone
Pixel 2

Thoughts on phones close to vanilla Android?

About to pull the trigger on a Redmi Note 4X

Should I?

Current phone is a Redmi Note 3 Pro

I almost did, but the lacking US band support had me get the Honor 8 instead

Moto Z or Nokia 6?

There's a "fix" available for the bootloops ("fix" because all it does is disable the big A57 cores on the SD808)
forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/untested-nexus-5x-bootloop-death-fix-t3641199

Works for the 6P too
xda-developers.com/nexus-6p-bootloop-fix/

I checked it on one of those sites and it looked like it would work fine.

I'm on Straight Talk in the US.

Now I'm not sure if i should get it...

I guess I will look into it more

It's too small of a difference. Only if there's something wrong with your current one.

I have the low end one with 2GB of ram, which causes some minor inconviences.

However, the screen has a deadspot and a ever-growing line of yellow going down the right side. So I figured an upgrade is called for

Keep in mind that there's different versions of the Note 4 / 4X

So based on that info and my carrier using the following bands:

1900, 1700 abcde, 700 bc

Should the international version work fine for me?

Phone overheated (felt it, and got temp warning that locked me out) a few days ago and since then hasn't been able to charge. Buying new phone in the next couple of days.

How far behind is the gentoo wiki on portables? Looks like the most recommended phone there is Google Nexus.

I've only had two phones over the course of 15 years or so, assuming I take good care of my devices what's the most reliable/long lasting device nowadays? USA/Verizon/not picky on features but prefer Android/hopefully $500 or below/don't care about size

No you mong. you won't even get 3G, not to mention 4G. you'll be stuck on 2G forever. don't be a retard, those phones are for Asia and Europe only.

Essential Phone DOA confirmed

How is the RN3P working? If that works then the Note 4 should work too.

Wrong. The Global version gets 3G and 4G on certain US carriers

reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/6j4tdn/redmi_note_4_straight_talk_usa_clarification/

"I use the RN4 Global on Net10, which for all intents and purposes is the same thing as Straight Talk. Just get the BYOP SIM kit for either AT&T or T-Mobile phones and it'll work fine.

The RN4 Global has full 3G and partial LTE support on AT&T (YMMV, I get LTE in my area just fine).

It has only has partial support for both 3G and LTE on T-Mobile, but full 2G support."

Best Buy has some good deals on Galaxy S8/S8+ and Google Pixel / Pixel XL atm:
bestbuy.com/site/verizon/verizon-phones/pcmcat211300050002.c?id=pcmcat211300050002

Galaxy S8 is $17.50/mo for 24 months = $420
Galaxy S8+ is $21.50/mo = $516
Pixel is $13.33/mo = $320
Pixel XL is $17.66/mo = $424

Alternatively, unlocked LG G6 is on sale for $449:

Looking for a chinkphone lads.

Budget - $150
UK, probably EE
Requirements - Big battery, USB-C for dat fast charge

1.5A vs 3A
Why would you even need it anyway? get a real phone (a phone that lasts a whole day) and charge it during teh night.

Any news on when the Moto G5S Plus will be released?

Should I wait for it or just get a Moto Z Play once its price falls below 250€ again?

I'd give up on the USB-C and get the Redmi Note 4 Global but if you absolutely need it then LeEco Cool1

kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-xiaomi-redmi-note-4-global-3gb-32gb
kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-leeco-cool1

I'm tempted to buy a Zuk Z2 Pro, but I'd have to import it from China, and I'm wary of doing this. If there's something wrong with my phone it means I'll have flushed almost 300€ right down the toilet.

Are there any phones with comparable features, performance and pricing that are available from European sellers?

Need to replace my smart phone ASAP and looking for something reliable between 200-300 USD.

Honestly I rarely use smartphone features, but want reliable GPS (which I'm sure is easy/a non issues) and Internet access that is dependable enough whenever I do decide to use it.

I'm in the united states and w/ AT$T

what's the best torrent client for android?

Honor 8 is ~300€

Moto G5 Plus
Nokia 6
Honor 6X

Flud

How bad is LG G6 battery? Is it enough of a drawback to justify not buying it? Would flashing a custom newer 7.1 ROM impact much on battery's life?

Hopefully they're waiting on Android O at this rate

>pixel2 renders
>no headphone jack

lol

I'm going to be switching from AT&T to Sprint sometime in the next few months. Anyone know if they will allow me to use a Xiaomi phone on their network? I'm looking specifically at the Mi Max 2.

No, chinkphones won't work on Sprint

DOA if true

any1 using huawei phones? Thinking about the nova if the nokia 7 turns out to be shit. Are they good? Huawei isn't very good with updates I heard.

Is there something like the Redmi Note 4 with chinkshit iOS clone software like MIUI? 5.5" display with FHD resolution is what's required, as well as Band 20 support. Budget around 200-300 euro.

>without chinkshit iOS clone software

I know I could install Pajeet's buggy AOSP or Lineage build on it but I don't really care about fucking with ROMs anymore.

Nokia 6

The battery is decent but not outstanding if you use it as a phone, if you're a heavy poweruser that's on it for hours with WiFi, Bluetooth, background sync, gps, and all that shit turned on then it won't last you the whole day. Getting a custom ROM can help remove bloat but it won't make the battery last drastically longer.

MIUI is OK though (apart from Google bloat, but every phone has it).

huawei is not honest on making smartphones

> Huawei P10 and P10 Plus use different flash memory component on their devices. While some recorded read and write speeds for UFS 2.1, others got speeds for UFS 2.0 and the rest recorded eMMC 5.1 speeds.
> Huawei CEO spoke on the matter via his Weibo account and revealed that shortages in supply led to the use of eMMC flash memory in some units.

gizmochina.com/2017/04/22/huawei-p10-memory-scandal-removes-ufs-2-1-description-official-mate-9-website/

Meh. the SD430 is a lot slower than the CPU on my 2 year old S5 Neo. Plus the battery is retardedly small. Oh well.

Nope, MIUI is compromised in multiple ways (compromised notification system, retarded RAM management, iOS-isms, compatibility issues)

>Live in TJ
>Go to San Diego to buy my electronics directly without paying any damn import fees or buy online and send straight to my P.O. Box

Feels good man

>a lot slower
No it isn't, both SoCs consist of eight A53 cores and the Adreno 505 GPU on the SD430 performs better than the Mali T720 in the S5 Neo

>battery is retardedly small
how is 3000mah that?

>retarded RAM management
turn it off in developer options
>iOS-isms
Examples? Never used apple anything.
>compromised notification system
>compatibility issues
Works on my machine (TM)
Though I heard that some people have problems without turning MIUI optimization off in Developer options.

>No it isn't

600/2500 vs 700/3200 Geekbench score. Graphics are irrelevant since both GPUs are too slow for any real 3D games, though simple ones work fine on both.

Should I choose "unlocked" or my carrier when I buy a HTC U11?

Also, do I really need 6GB of RAM?

>do I really need 6GB of RAM?
That's bare minimum for a Pro-Am mobile shitposter

yes, of course you need it goy

my mom only lets me have 2GB.

Wouldn't call that a lot slower, doubt you'd notice any difference in real life, especially since the Nokia runs completely stock android vs touchwiz on the Samsung

Also, the GPU isn't only for games, it's also used to render the UI and webpages for example so a better GPU will mean a smoother phone.

>The first Nokia flagship Android phone is launching on August 16th

when the fuck is it going to be available?

I need: great camera, and great battery life.

CPU/GPU speed and shit I don't care about, nor do I want 4K screen.

what do?

currently waiting to see what the Nokia 8 ends up being

buy a camera

already have one. but I want a good one that is always with me

Looking to upgrade from my tmobile sidekick 3 is the xiaomi mi max 2 any good I like how big the screen is and the long battery life.

What is the difference between Mediatek and Qualcomm chipsets on the redmi note 4? I'm going with the Qualcomm snapdragon version but it has 3gb RAM instead of 4, 32 instead of 64 GB storage and the price is the same

Are these HTC headphones a meme or are they actually good?

the Qualcomm one has better battery life and custom ROMs. Also it's available with 4gb/64gb too
kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-xiaomi-redmi-note-44gb-64gb-global

Don't think it'll work in the US

easily the best headphones to get in box with a phone which is a low bar but even on their own they're pretty good.

It's been a long time since I don't come here, what's the new redmi note 3?

Redmi Note 4 Global

4 gigs of RAM or 6 gigs? Do I invest in the meme?

for what? facebook and whatsapp?

This will be a beyond stupid question, but has anyone rooted their Redmi Note 4 ?
Is it still safe to do it now without bricking it ?

>Meh. the SD430 is a lot slower than the CPU on my 2 year old S5 Neo. Plus the battery is retardedly small. Oh well.

the SD430 isn't slow. it's only slow when paired with a 1080p display

All the normie apps basically, no games.

then do what you want, just dont call that an 'investment'

PAY MORE GOY

I have a Nokia 6 and it seems ok. Keep in mind I only use my phone for texting and music, but at least the UI didn't lag like my old phone.

What android phone has the best camera?

Also, is the Samsung Note 8 gonna blow all other phones out the water?

The GPU on the SD430 is more than enough for 1080p

>best camera
Currently it's probably between S8, HTC U11 and Pixel

objectively speaking, the u11. but other phones are really close to the point where it almost doesn't matter.

>This will be a beyond stupid question
Yes
>but has anyone rooted their Redmi Note 4 ?
Yes
>Is it still safe to do it now without bricking it ?
Yes

Mi note 3 seems like it will be the god phone. Hope I can upgrade my redmi note 3 pro to bezeless meme

I dont come here much and I dont know if this is the correct general, but I recently bought a Moto E4 Plus and was looking for root methods, I cant find a lot cause this phone is from june I think.

Also I havent rooted anything last 2/3 years just stuff like Kingo Root and stuff like that, is it really this easy now?

Which is a better sub $300 unlocked phone?
Galaxy s6 or moto g5plus
Freedomfag btw

Today is the day my beloved s4 decided it... Didn't want to S4 100 percent correctly. It's... Ribbon... Broke. Hopefully it's successor won't have this dubious fate, and hopefully the S4 won't mind porn duty too bad.

How are the midrange phones today not any better than the Nexus 5 that was only $400 on launch day in 2013

>I need: great camera, and great battery life.
>
>CPU/GPU speed and shit I don't care about, nor do I want 4K screen.
I also really want a phone like that to be made. Don't feel like overpaying for shit I don't need.
But now I think about it Nokia 6 has flagship-tier camera and is ~200USD so it will meet your needs as long as the battery lasts for a long time. Sadly I don't remember how good it is in this aspect.

I got a really shitty Samsung S5 a while ago and i'm really beginning to hate it
Want to switch to a different android phone, i'm in italy, any suggestions?
Don't want to spend more than 300 euros though

Phones with fuckhueg sensor and low-ish resolution (max 8MP) when? We are finally at that point with other components that with good enough camera I could buy one phone and keep it forever (read: until developers get even lazier and add even more bloat to apps and websites).

LG G5
ebay.com/itm/352049253484

I've been getting 5-6 hours screen time per charge. Plus several hours of listening to music.

They are. Nexus 5 has trash battery life and below average camera

J5 2016

How shit is it?

If the Redmi 5 prime isn't SD630, 3GB ram, 1080p 5 inch display, greater than 70% screen to body ratio, greater than 4000mAh battery, and support micro sd then xiaomi can get fucked.

Zuk Z2 Pro gets around 6 hours SoT if that's good enough for you and the camera is pretty kick ass. In between Samsung s6 and s8 quality images.

Nexus 5 had a nice camera, battery life was shit and screen had yellow tint though.

What is the best android keyboard? I can't use this Huawei shit

4 entire years and that's all these Jews improved? Whoop de doo, Basil

i just bought my first Android phone. Not an iphag, I just always used Skype until they pulled support for the psp/vita version.
Why does my phone browser require permission to take photos and record video in order for me to have permission to launch the browser? If I download Firefox or some other browser, is it still going to do this shit or is it just the default Android browser that insists on being able to record me while I'm on the web?

gboard is calm

>had
Yes, it was fine in 2013 but even most midrange phones will take better pictures now

did I say that was all? A 2017 midrange phone is better in practically every way compared to a Nexus 5.

It started working really shitty on my previous phone after a while

Is it worth upgrading a Oneplus One?
Still getting decent battery life (5/6 hrs SOT).

Only gripe now after having it for 3 years, is that the camera is shite.

No
