I'm new to Linux - decided to get Manjaro but I can't decide on a desktop. What's better for efficiency and productivity - xfce or gnome 3?
I'm new to Linux - decided to get Manjaro but I can't decide on a desktop...
Install Gentoo. And also don't use GNOME 3, because it sucks.
XFCE with Compton
I'm running Manjaro Gnome as my desktop OS and love it.
The xfce one is a full DE, simple and just werks. If you want something even faster and keyboard oriented and you don't mind handling with some config files try the i3wm version. Or install Gentoo.
>decided to get manjaro
why'd you do that
I3 or another tiling windows manager of your choice.
i3 is already in a nice community image
xfce if you want to be a normie about it
i3 is best
what about KDE
Suggesting i3 to a beginner who will give up and go back to botnet os
Good idea
I tried installing Manjaro and it wouldn't fucking install grub right for some reason. Yet if I boot the installation media, choose the option to check for EFI loaders or something, then I can load grub from there.
Don't listen to the basement dwellers ITT, i3 would be a terrible choice for beginners.
I would personally recommend MATE, it's the most basic, down to earth and complete DE around. To get it just install the mate and mate-extra groups.
protip - ditch manjaro
second - use gnome
XFCE for sure. It's ugly as fuck but it does exactly what it says on the box.
it's got a HUGE amount of options which makes it a bit of a bloat.. also it's ugly as fuck
it's ugly if you make it to look ugly
i like you
Could someone explain me this manjaro meme? How do those retards that run this shit convince people to use it?
Xfce is more efficient, Gnome is prettier.
I3 is the Most efficient though
Budgie
Easy to install, more stabile than arch, Access to AUR.Whats your Problem with it?
It's ugly if you do nothing to make it look good
>Gnome is prettier
Such a retard!
Just end yourself user. Don't made me kill you.
Manjaro i3 is fairly beginner friendly. It was the first distro i used for more than an hour without hating. Been using it for 6 months now.
Enlightenment is the only DE on Linux worth using.
>don't backport security updates
>can't use ssl certificates so they ask users to change date on their system
>generally retarded
>blatantly stole logo from Nine Inch Nails
Gnome is good if you install a dock, or another panel
both suck, xfce sucks less but is abandonware
Xfce is light, simple and straightforward, but looks a bit old and ugky unless heavily tweaked.
Gnome can be buggy sometimes.
I use xfce. Gets the job done
