Why do car displays still have pajeet tier graphics for nav systems? Why don't they support Android Autobotnet or Apple carplay already and let us use Google maps.

because no one cares you autist

they like doing things the hard way

t.autist

cars take years to design. That was state of the art years ago.

hi phoneposter

Audi's nav is fantastic and based on Google Maps

>Having an in-car botnet

why are you so brain damaged that you can't find your way across town without a computer telling you where to turn?

Enjoy your crash

largely its because car makers require rigorous testing.

Better to stick to something that you know will work, rather than throw in some new tech that will break lots of the time.

Ford had lots of problems with MS and ultimately decided to ditch them in favor of QNX

>he thinks everyone is a murican tard who never leaves their city
Yeah, I'm probably brain-damaged for not remembering the 1200-km route which uses 5 different highways

Blame iGO and Windows CE

>can't remember 5 turns in 1200km

You need to see a doctor.

>My destination is on the highway
also
>having to constantly focus on how far until thenext turn
vs
>focus on the actual driving, with a friendly voice reminding you about your turns, warning about dangers ahead and swiftly rerouting you in case a route becomes unusable (eg car crash on highway)

Oh dear, how did anyone manage to navigate anywhere before GPS? It's not like people can remember the next street they have to turn on while they're driving!

You retards sound like a YouTube comments section

It's fine user, you forgot about maps, we understand. But we recommend you to think twice before making a shitpost next time, ok?

>turning
>not going directly to your destination
lmao

>not taking advantage of tech that makes your life easier
You sound like a fucking baby boomer.

That seems pretty easily solved with a model that supports updates, but I understand that auto manufacturers just dgaf.

ford new sync 3 is amazing, but i normally have to plug my phone in and out 3 times before android auto starts

>not making your own car OS

>not making your own car

BMW and Audi use Google Maps

why fix something that's not broken? The existing system has been passed in any and all countries they need. Implementing a new system would mean going through testing all over again. also anyone who wants google's/apple's maps can just buy a tab or an ipad.

At least most manufacturers still have knobs and dials. I fear they'll copy Tesla and install a giant touchscreen.

IDK but my $71k Lexus uses some weird fucking archaic GPS that makes me regret spending on this fucking option. Why can't I just plug in an iPhone or Android phone and Google map pops up on the screen.

...

Just get a self driving car u bafoon

Why dont they have a projector for shit like this to give you HUD, little minimap in the corner of your screen would be brilliant and having it in your field of view would be less distrtacting than looking away from the road to a seperate screen

Only older ones. Audi, VW, Mercedes Benz, Skoda, Nissan, Renault are using Here Maps

BMW should as well. All German car manufacturers are now using Here.
>Nissan and Renault
They are Microsoft partners hence using an (now ex) MSFT Product

I've always liked Here more than Google maps 2bh.

Same. Their maps material including satellite view are also more updated in General. But the updates are expensive.
>Nissans here maps data is stored on SD cards which can't be reflashed a new one costs 200€
Source: I'm a mechanic at Nissan

>brain damaged
yes, quite brain damaged to want to use live traffic data to avoid accidents/delays and show up somewhere on time
