This is one thing AMD does get right...
They don't "force" the card to be 2 slots, so you could change the cooler out and the bracket and have a single slot gpu.
NVIDIA keeps putting fucking DVI ports on the cards to prevent that.

6990 is two GPUs, the fan would sometimes sound like a leaf blower. But HD6000 cards had some impressive performance/watt at the time compared to Fermi, so this design was just efficient enough to keep this monster cool.
