HIGH SIERRA MASTER RACE

ˆ cringe

>world's most advanced operating system
>ships with Bash version 3
Sure.

You do everything in windows though...why waste time having shit floating windows that you have to position with a mouse? Tiling windows are by far superior. You can leave your hands on the keyboard and never have to use the mouse outside of applications that require it. Resizing, horizontal vs vertical arrangements; all easy with a tiling windows manager.

I don't like anal.

GPLv2 is more advance license

>too dumb to update software
lol
literal autism

You can also make them float if that suits your boat.

let me guess, you happily use debian with packages that are years old yet meme about something like this to feel superior?

>>too dumb to update software
>"it jus wurkz out da box"
>t. macfag

but it does? is a version number preventing you from using the terminal somehow?

that's not Gentoo GNU/Linux with the K desktop environment

>literal autism
Nice argument you have there. I assume anyone who spouts autism as their defense is probably dealing with their own autistic issues.

irony

I use OpenBSD and Fedora. I always have a recent version of Bash.

>no associative arrays plus all of this stuff: admon.org/scripts/new-features-in-bash-4-0/
>have to install your own CLI package manager and then install a whole never version of Bash
Macfags will defend having outdated programs. And this is supposed to be an OS for developers?

It ships with better shells like zsh and mksh93

>use a hobbyist/server OS for development
>it breaks
>user is now left with a system to troubleshoot and a project to finish
>use macOS
>finish project
>go outside to watch a movie with my gf

It doesn't ship with zsh. Also that outdated Bash version that it uses as the default shell is vulnerable to shellshock. Versions 1.x-4.3 are. Enjoy your security hole.

>server OS
>not stable
You really shot yourself in the foot with such a retarded argument.

>use FagOS
>vulnerable to shellshock
Defend it. I want to laugh more.

yes it does
it comes with bash, csh, ksh, tcsh, sh, and zsh out of the box

>>hobbyist/server OS
You realize macOS is mostly outdated GNU and FreeBSD code under the hood, right?

Because I'm using macOS High Sierra

It wasn't included in Mavericks when I last used OS X. This must be new then. So why is Applel adding new shells instead of updating the existing ones? Nothing they do makes any sense.

Kevin, you make macOS look like shit.

>anti-apple shitposter
>very outdated info
every time

>applel shill
>very outdated shells
every time

are you done here? you can go back now

>world's most advanced operating system
If by advanced you mean shit support for even its own hardware, no way to do development work, no way to customize it as much as any *BSD and GNU/Linux system, yes, it is advanced.

How? It's just basically default.

>shellshock
>spouting Sup Forums memes to criticize a perfectly ok operating system
dumb frogposter

>no way to customize it as much as any *BSD and GNU/Linux system
Lemme just stop you right there. Being advanced doesn't mean letting you edit configs and change themes and icons to your autisms content, the being advanced part is what the OS itself can do, and the fact it's used by many professionals at Google, Microsoft, Apple, and many other tech places. It's is the real programmers computer/laptop of choice.

Go back where? Maybe you should go back to plebbit and take your fruity, outdated toys with you.

>serious system vulnerabilities are Sup Forums memes
>t. Macfag

>the being advanced part is what the OS itself can do
And it can't do shit.
>and the fact it's used by many professionals at Google, Microsoft, Apple, and many other tech places.
Oh, so you mean Debian and FreeBSD?

Provide some proof to those baseless claims lad

Try developing an operating system in MacOS.
And find me a server that runs MacOS

He's a Macfag who would eat literal shit out of Tim Cook's hands. Just rub it in his face that his default shell is vulnerable and outdated because Apple doesn't give a fuck about security.

Your default shell is outdated and vulnerable because Apple doesn't care about security.

Even Apple discontinued their server line because nobody used it.

>talks about development work and macOS software and customizing
>FIND ME A SERVER THAT RUNS MACOS REEEE
lmao don't move the goalposts.
Also, Magenta/Fuchsia
How is it vulnerable? It also ships with zsh and a bunch of other shells, and you can always update your shell too, just like in Linux.

>It doesn't ship with zsh.

>>talks about development work and macOS software and customizing
>>FIND ME A SERVER THAT RUNS MACOS REEEE
Out of a fucking sudden you pretend like you didn't read the post.
>Magenta/Fuchsia
?
>How is it vulnerable?
By being outdated as shit
>It also ships with zsh and a bunch of other shells,
Do you read the fucking posts or just select two words and reply to that?
>and you can always update your shell too, just like in Linux.
How is it my responsibility to keep my shell up to date? If I update the system, it should update the shell too, not manually.

>How is it vulnerable?
Shellshock.

>It also ships with zsh and a bunch of other shells
That aren't the default, and that are also outdated.

>and you can always update your shell
With third party software. Absolutely pathetic.

>just like in Linux.
Mainstream Linux distros come with 4.4 out of the box and it gets updated further with each system update because unlike Applel, those devs care about security.

I know. I made a single mistake and all of my other points still stand.

>So why is Applel adding new shells instead of updating the existing ones
GPLv3 prevents apple from using it

>that his default shell is vulnerable
The vulnerability has been patched in apple's outdated version you retard

>he would rather give up a better desktop experience and ease of use for a half assed distro just because it updates all his packages at once
>his arguments are that because a component of the system (which can be updated) is vulnerable the entire system is vulnerable
Might as well shit on Debian users every time they make a thread.

>Try developing an operating system in MacOS.
Can he not? MacOS isn't "advanced" but it's still *nix. Mostly.

>GPLv3 prevents apple from using it
Aww, what a shame. That's what they get from using closed source libraries and a closed source desktop. Proprietary losers can stay vulnerable.

>The vulnerability has been patched in apple's outdated version
Prove it.

doesn't even have a package manager
what a joke

I dare MacOS users to compile a cross-gcc compiler to make an operating systems.
Even some BSD systems fail at that.

to make an operating system*
Forgive my spelling.

Because Apple is expensive, in addition I'm living in shitty country where expected and average income is about 40% of what it's in US, but Apple prices are the same, so it's shitfucking not worth it.
Also free OSs give me everything I need and 400$ laptop is enough.

arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/09/apple-patches-shellshock-bash-bug-in-os-x-10-9-10-8-and-10-7/

Debian isn't shipping with Bash version 3. I wouldn't shit on OS X if it wasn't such a clusterfuck under the hood, tied to overpriced garbage hardware, or using so many closed source components. These are all things that Apple could easily fix but chooses not to.

macOS Sierra ships with zsh 5.2
>He doesn't know what Magenta/Fuchsia is
And yes I did read the posts
>Shellshock
2014, it's 2017 and has been fixed
>outdated
How is zsh 5.2 outdated? Ubuntu latest uses it in their repos, as well as other distress.
>with third party software
Oh like adding a repository basically, neat.

Also, GPLv3 keeps them from using a higher version of bash.

>arstechnica
Nope. Archive your shit.

>better desktop experience and ease of use
Not him but most of Apple's "usability" is fancy compositing effects on everything. This may surprise you to hear, but not everyone actually likes Aqua.
Hell, if I had to use a Macbook for work or something I'd probably be jury rigging my WM setup onto it.

Why don't you take the url and archive it if you're this AUTISTIC

>Also, GPLv3 keeps them from using a higher version of bash.
based rms

How is Fuchsia relevant to this conversation?

>macOS Sierra ships with zsh 5.2
>And yes I did read the posts
I fucking doubt it. I said that Debian and FreeBSD is used in the corporate market, the other user told you about the default shell, not a secondary one.
>Also, GPLv3 keeps them from using a higher version of bash.
They literally think keeping MacOS proprietary is more important than the user's security.

How so

It's the thing that motivated them to start clang making gcc the inferior open source compiler

It's still patched though
Because you said you can't make OS's using macOS. I listen an OS.

After she is done with Chad you cuck

>Because you said you can't make OS's using macOS.
Prove the google devs aren't using ubuntu :^)

>Because you said you can't make OS's using macOS. I listen an OS.
How do you know that it was written using MacOS?

fuchsia.googlesource.com/magenta/ /HEAD/docs/getting_started.md

They provide guides for building on macos

>apple was literally cucked into pouring millions in R&Dbux to make a product they can't charge people for

No games

You're actually retarded to think that Macs aren't used in corporate environments as well as tech/software companies. And I already knew macOS came with other shells. Maybe try reading my posts.
They're using Goobuntu and macOS.
What said.

>They literally think keeping MacOS proprietary is more important than the user's security.
it is to them tho
if it were fossed it'd just get ported to better hardware

most of macOS is actually open source

as in the proprietary desktop part you mong

They could have charged for it through xcode like they did with gcc, but apple is a nice company so it's free

I didn't say that.
>And I already knew macOS came with other shells.
Not the argument.
>Maybe try reading my posts.
I do unlike you.
Over the years no one made darwin work because it lacks fucking everything.
I wonder why.
>but apple is a nice company so it's free
>needs overpriced shitty hardware to even run it
Yeah, a *totally* nice company!

>>literally need a third party package manager to build it
first party package managers for linux are garbage

kys apple nigger

Yes. This is the number one truth Linux users don't want to know.

Like what?

Mate you're implying it this entire time.

because i use GNU/Linux OP

Because i use Windows 10. Just werks
