What is the proper way to escape a / character using sed?

for example:
sed 's/find/replace/'

will replace all instances of 'find' with 'replace'

but what if I am replacing hyperlinks that use the '/' character?

how to I escape the / character so sed recognizes it as part of the term to search for or replace?

I've been having momentary hallucinations of objects that aren't there vibrate and shake violently only for them to warp out of existence a few seconds later especially when I observe them carefully.

Anyway is there any tech that can help me? Or I am destined to rot in a mental hospital for life?

you can escape them with a '\' before

The file chooser with icon view. Exists a solution/patch or still a meme?

I believe dolphin has it and there's supposedly a working patch for one of the other fms but I don't remember which one

you can actually use any character instead of '/' with sed, you can also escape with '\'
% sed sahara

Any reason my connection might drop for a second randomly every 5-10 mins while gaming. Tried restarting and replugging everything, changed dns. Wired connection with some shitty zyxel modem and win 7. Anything I should really try?

Does Tampermonkey respect your privacy? Since Greasemonkey seems to slow to update before FF57. How about Violentmonkey?

Post the corrected version-

What's the best 16:10 monitor available?

right now what's a good (or the best) server side scripting lang to learn?

Sometimes when my phone gets a calendar notification when I'm sleeping it will keep the screen on all night long until I see it and turn it off. Why does it do this? This is bullshit!

pc ----modem----online_game_server
you can setup another client in your local network to test pc to modem connection by using iperf, to test the modem is ok under high loading.

modem to game_server have too many nodes that you cant test, for example ISP or dumb game company, but you can try traceroute and check the high latency node, maybe ask support from ISP

I'm a Linuxfag through and through for many years now but I may be getting a job where Windows knowledge would be useful.
Can anyone recommend a crash cours(es) around basic Windows server stuff? General management, AD, ISIS and other M$ shit.

ISP is probably cutting you off. Did you download anything big the night or two before, like a game from Steam? Anytime I download a game or binge out on watching youtube or CrunchyRoll, I get to experience random dropouts the next day or two. And it's usually at the same time during the day between morning and afternoon. Doesn't matter if I have the cheapest internet package or the most expensive, whether anyone else is online or not. If I had a big download the night before, this whole section of the day the next day is basically a flip of a coin every 5 to 10 minutes to see if my connection drops. Tried swapping out modems/routers/ips, nothing works. It can't be the line being bad because it's only during this time period of the day. After the time period passes, the internet is back to normal. ISP doesn't want you taking up too much bandwidth and probably does it to help clear up space for other users, or it's afraid that you're pirating stuff seeing as how big the downloads are. I don't pirate, but I like to switch out games often so I have to uninstall and redownload them thanks to hard drive space. They will never tell you they do this though, they'll probably say you need to switch out the modem or fix the line. You'll have to pester your ISP to send a technician out to actually check if the line works or needs to be rerun to your room, and they might want to charge you for it but you'll have to stand your ground.

It's 2017, why are mobos still called motherboards?
You'd think we'd call them mommyboards by now.

Stop playing Dishonored 2 so much.

Why are monitors still called monitors when they should be called not watching you fappers???

ty I'll try iperf out

hmmm this might be a possibility

Because they are already watching you through your webcam. If not, all they need is your footprint. They already know how people fap, because everyone faps only two ways (male/female/both), they only need to know what you're fapping to so they can build your personality file for advertisers.

Does this work?

I can’t fuckin find this “pin” layout for this pcb board that connects to an lcd screen and I’m losing my mind someone help

Why don't you try it out?

If I use Windows to setup a RAID 1 mirror, then take one drive out to put into another computer, will the contents of the drives show up fine on both computers, or will there be RAID metadata on the drives that will throw up errors?

Also, what's the new hotness for utilizing 3-4 8TB drives, assuming there is something better than RAID 5 or 6?

didn't work

among javascript (node.js), python (I guess django) and go, what's the best for server-side?

THAT ISN'T HOW IT FUCKING WORKS

BOATLIGHTS WOULD FIRST HAVE SCREAM IF ANYONE IS OUT THERE
THEN SALT AND PEPPER WOULD SAY "OH HEY YOU SHOULD HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THIS IF YOU FEEL LIKE TALKING TO PEOPLE NORMALLY
BOATLIGHTS WOULD BE LIKE HEY THAT LOOKS PRETTY GOOD AND THEN SAY YEAH I SHOULD DO THAT
THEN THE SALT AND PEPPER WOULD BE YEAH THAT WAS MY IDEA, I'M GONNA TELL OTHER PEOPLE DIFFERENT IDEAS SO YOU CAN FEEL COOL AND UNIQUE
AND THEN BOATLIGHTS WOULD GET HER OWN DAMN FISH

THE CLIENT IS ONLY GIVEN INFORMATION AND DOES NOT TAKE A DAMN THING
IT JUST LEARNS THAT IT'S OKAY TO DO THAT THING AND THAT THERE WON'T BE CONFLICTS UNLESS ANOTHER CLIENT DECIDES TO DO SOMETHING WITHOUT CONSULTING THE SERVER

How do I stop my shitty comcast router from resetting every night at 3:30 am?

> will the contents of the drives show up fine on both computers
It should, yes.
> will there be RAID metadata on the drives that will throw up errors?
There should be errors about a degraded array, no errors about filesystem or data.
> what's the new hotness for utilizing 3-4 8TB drives, assuming there is something better than RAID 5 or 6?
RAID10?

> but what if I am replacing hyperlinks that use the '/' character?
As others said, use something else, like #. It can be googled easily, why ask here.

I don't have wireless network card and can't stretch the LAN cable to my room.
How can I supply my desktop with internet?
Can I use Android somehow? I have wireless on that.

Building up a nas by my self.
Bought my hardware and installed them.
The problem is now, which OS should I use.
I want to use it as a NAS and also for other functions, like a VPS, RADIUS, etc
Which way is the best to handle that?
Any tips?

Sorry user you are shit out of luck on that one. Been on that quest before myself. Good news is you can get a usb wifi adapter for only 5 bucks.

> You can achieve this natively on some versions of Android (for me it works on KitKat 4.4.4). All you have to do is connect the phone to wi-fi as usual and then connect the USB cable and do a USB tether. Your computer should detect a new hardware - a "USB ethernet" or similar, you may need to install drivers for that, ymmv. Then it behaves just like any other network card. This works for all common operating system, including Windows (where the drivers part may apply).

> Just to be sure, you can disable mobile data on the phone for the time being but the phone should be smart enough to route traffic via wifi automatically when it is available.

> No root needed.

Whatever you know better. I'd pick Linux because I'm a sysadmin and know how to make it work.

Chromium or Iridium?

Problem with the wifi network tethering is it goes at a steady 15kbps over usb

Linux is sure, but which OS?
Iam also a system engineer, but I don't know which would handle it best?
To run every function self-sufficient, is docker the efficientest way or is there any other software?

No way. Maybe it's true for an overpopulated 3G network.

Media player for Windows?
PotPlayer bugged shit.

MPV

really good?

Iridium.

Top notch.

Well, it's either Debian or CentOS. Proxmox - AIO distro with KVM and LXC - is based on Debian, but CentOS is RHEL-based and Red Hat is a major contributor to Linux and all those container systems. LXC or Docker will work on both Debian and CentOS.

Sorry if its stupid (I'm pretty tech illiterate )but anyway so I just downloaded firefox. Mostly since school websites and bank website says I can only access it "safely" through chrome, firefox, opera, safari, you know regular browsers. Well anyway my question is how do I get firefox to work simultaneously alongside waterfox?

Check out the app PDAnet

scripts stopped working a long time ago thanks to windows users getting rekt
.hta incident was the final nail in the coffin

Separate profiles.

Thanks for your help user, I thought also CentOS will be fine for me... You have personal experience with both, LXC and Docker?

when buying a mouse pad for what features/characteristic should i look for?
Ive always just used my desk as a mouse pad

what pcb? model name?

Are molex to 8pin PCIE connectors safe to use? It's for a mining card so it's probably pulling over 150 watts, how can I tell if the cable will be good enough quality to not melt? I've seen horror stories

Tampermonkey is open sauce on github if you want to check for yourself.

Have you got "keep the screen on while charging" option enabled in developer settings.

I'll fund it.

>what's the best for server-side
you can learn all of them, nothing hurt
ideas are the same, but different implementation

What the hell is RAID?

if a drive fails the system doesn't fail

check system log, find the root cause
or reset to factory default

This works temporarily.
Thanks m8

What is wrong with using Opera instead of Firefox?

China

I have Windows CE handheld scanners, we're trying to make them connect to a server by using an enrollment tool so it gets returned an IP for connectivity.
The devices give me a HttpQueryInfo failed 12019 error, I've googled this and all it tells me is that it's an incorrect handle state. I understand that something is wrong with the communication towards the server but idk what the fuck a handle state is and how it works, can somebody explain that to me?

Aren't the founders Norwegian? How does China come into the mix?

Firefox 54.0.1: Most emoji and arabic/special alphabets are rendered as boxes with codes in them. How do I fix this? Do I need to install a different font? Installed fonts in pic related.

hikkineet here with """"some"""" knowledge in web dev. what's a good website to make some cash? will making a porn site give me shekels?

They sold out some years ago.

i have the same problem along with Botnet Material Icons
supposedly it's a bad font somewhere but i couldn't figure out how to replace it or CSS fix it.

Well it looks like I will go back to Mozilla now. Thanks user.

what torrent downloader should i use next?

bittorrent is being throttled in my country

where do you live?

>torrent downloader
not sure what you're asking. client? tracker? VPN?

I fried my XPERIA Z3 last weekend since it fell into the water at a pool party. It doesn't turn on anymore and doesn't get recognized by my computer if I plug it in on an USB port.

Out of interest:
Is there any easy way to recover data from the internal HD? There's nothing to important on it, but losing the data would still be a mild annoyance.

aus

Bunch of opera devs started vivaldi though, fyi

What things can you do with an old (but still decent) computer?

I already have a steam link and a chromecast connected to the TV

I'm upgrading most of my parts and I'm wondering if I should shell out the $300 or so more to be able to keep my old one together

Is Windows 10 File History adequate? I've got it backing up everything in C:/Users/[Username] to a secondary hard drive on a daily basis.

htpc
nas
pfsense

any benefit for the first 2 for someone that lives alone?
I don't see the benefit compared to just playing it from my main computer anyway which is always on

pro tip:
if you drop a phone in water, pick up and turn it off.
dont turn it on until you dry it out, or the short circuit will kill some components on pcb and cant be recovered

I have been using my Linksys WRT54G router for years do I need to upgrade with a newer one?

Messed up my PC today when I accidentally disabled Intel HD Graphics. The screen went black and now I'm unable to do anything. I've googled and tried a few of the fixes that have been posted online but it has not worked for me. Can anyone here help me?

is it possible to block an ip so that it can't view a website? essentially what i'm asking is is it possible that a 404'd is actually blocking an ip address from seeing it?

What can make a HDD so fucking slow? This should be faster than my Caviar Green, but it isn't. It's actually way slower. Everything on the computer using this hard drive takes forever to complete, and the CPU isn't stressed at all. What could cause a HDD to slow down like this?

>any benefit for the first 2 for someone that lives alone?
i use my NAS to stream chinese cartoons to my phone while i lie in bed. otherwise not really. if you live in a NEET hovel and are near your main computer most of the time anyway there is not really any benefit.

did you miss google?

additionally you could turn the lower powered box into a dedicated GNU/Linux machine and use the other, presumably more powerful computer, to install your botnetOS and gaymes with heavy router restrictions on traffic.

It is this drive, btw: newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073

asus ac66u
wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_RT-AC66U

802.11g is outdated, newer standards like 802.11n and ac will give you better speeds.

any neato things a dedicated gnu + linux comp would be useful for that dual booting or VMs wouldn't get me?

I've got a spare arduino lying around too

do you have other pcie gpu card?

>would be useful for that dual booting or VMs wouldn't get me?
no botnet on baremetal
no botnet trying its very hardest to escape your VM
[install SOLUS]
native performance on gaymes without the hassle of setting up passthrough is probably the best reason though; could also easily set up a KVM switch and be comfy.

Booting in safe mode should do the trick (assuming you're running Windows).

>did you miss google?
>stupid questions thread
okay i just googled but that still doesn't answer my question. if an ip address is blocked what does it look like if i to access it. is 404'd or something else?

I've been trying to boot in safe mode but it hasn't worked.

yes, I was trying to games to default to my nvidia card but goofed and disabled intel.

I've tried a bunch of fixes that I found online but nothing has worked for me.

it answered your first question

I don't think it 404s

how cant it work if you have nvidia card, do you plug the monitor cable to nvidia card output?

do you get anything at all when you start the comp?
do you get to bios or anything?
