Any AfterEffects nerds here?

Any AfterEffects nerds here?

Why can't I use 100% of my CPU (it's only between 20-30% during rendering)?

Got:
Good CPU
A lot of RAM

really difficult... have you tried to install gentoo?

Don't use windows

Get a great CPU.

I have both macOS 10.12.6 installed and Wangshaft 10 on this Hackintosh.

Adobe applications are only available on these two OSs and AE doesn't use all the RAM/CPU in either OS. Performance is maybe about 3-5% better under Wangshaft, but that's about it.

What CPU though?

7700k OC'd

>intel
There's your problem.

Fuck man, can we NOT have a fucking Gayzen vs Jewtel shilling for once?

It's a serious question.

Also Intel is fine, it has better performance for productivity applications.

Now get the fuck out of my thread. Please.

>Also Intel is fine, it has better performance for productivity applications
Toppest of keks

No but seriously, the software is garbage.

Have you checked your preferences? make sure you've allotted all your resources for AE.

have you disabled GPU rendering ?

Which means you don't have xenons or ecc ram.

I used to work with AE.
There are a ton of options regarding system resource allocation. I recommend looking at those.

Not sure dude, maybe its the codec? No idea. Here is the utilization on my cpu.

Maybe you should get:
good at googling
Searching the catalog Fucking faget.

>No but seriously, the software is garbage.
Yes I know.

>Have you checked your preferences? make sure you've allotted all your resources for AE.

Yeah I have 64GB of RAM and have set about 55GB for AE.

Stupid ass Adobe removed Multi-core rendering for some reason from CC2015.

Yeah, I have CUDA Fast preview disabled (it's shit anyway)

Bullshit on ECC. Older versions of AE had no issues with non-ECC memory.

Adogay removed almost all of them except RAM allocation and cache location/size in CC2017. I can't go back to CC2015 I'm pretty deep in this project.

Wow that's weird. I wish it did 100% though.

What are your preference settings? Could you post those please? Especially under Cache and Memory

Here is cache in pic, memory setting is on default (6GB reserved for AE, 2 for system and other programs) I dont think ive touched any other option tho.

works fine for me

If help.adobe.com/en_US/AfterEffects/9.0/WSF13D6BED-C53B-408a-B2D6-C8B4205D4FB7a.html doesnt help, then just hop on google and hope for a solution
Sexy

thanks, also my temps at full load are pretty good too. using the evo 212

After Effects plugin/extension dev here.

I can tell you that after effects has totally backed up its multi-core rendering pipeline in preparation for an even huger re-factor going on in the background.

Currently After Effects is updating the SDK for people like to saying that X and Y and Z part of our plugins are running on separate threads and the synchronization primitives that we have to use if we want to keep our UI and Render thread in sync while also making sure the disc cache is only storing the latest thread.

When rendering it tries to dedicate all your available cores/threads to a single frame due to handy functions like "iterate" which handles all the scheduling for you and then once it has a complete frame it almost immediately pushes it to your file and encodes it with whatever codec you have set up. 90% of the time the frame-pushing part of it is absolutely shit.

Anyways what you can do is: rather than rendering it in After Effects, render it in Adobe Media Encoder(. That way it will use the After Effects backend for the frame-rendering and then use Adobe Media Encoder's gpu-accelerated compression to encode the frame.
AE should generally always be used to render uncompressed final versions and then using AME for compressed deliverables.

I wish i had money for ryzen and something to actually render in after effects other than videos for friends.

you don't have to get the 1700 the 1600 is also great plus the motherboards are cheap too.

Just install Source Mage. It has everything you need.

The fuck you saying?

Do you speak English?

tl:dr

use Adobe Media Encoder for better encodes

>i don't want a Intel vs AMD bullshit
>also, here, have some Intel vs AMD bullshit

>not using davinci fusion

Everyone spoting bull shit but won't ask the correct question: Are you doing GPU rendering?

use nuke

>not using natron or blender
>advertising proprietary solutions

>going for the autistic option when the industry standard comes with a free license

>he really believes proprietary devs can have anything but ulterior motives in all they do

Where do I torrent the best extensions help

Don't forget to uninstall Adobe crapwaresoft so the aforementioned plugins work better.

Check the GPU usage.

RAM speed could be a bottleneck.
Drive speed could be a bottleneck.
GPU could be a bottleneck if a lot of effects are used.

After Effects is not properly multi-threaded. That's all there's to it I'm afraid.

>dat post tho

Hm I'm gonna give this a shot. You better be right my nigga.

Also do you think it may have to do with certain plugins that slow it down a lot?

I use shit like Sapphire a lot (which I haven't updated in a long time).

Autists, you need to go.

AfterEffects does not have GPU rendering.

Nuke is a node based compositor.

AfterEffects is a layer based animator and compositor.

>Uninstall Adobe

Oh yeah, maybe I should uninstall my job too and be homeless. Right?

GPU is at 0%, rarely being used in this situation.

RAM is DDR4 2400 Ballistix Sports LT (I will try to OC later since I have a ROG board, it has many options). I set it to XMP to get a little more boost from the stock.

Drive is an M.2 SSD, with 200GB of free space out of 512GB. I get around 2.3GB/sec so far

AfterEffects doesn't use the GPU at all, except their retarded "Beta" Fast Draft function, which uses CUDA (which works on my machine but I have it off).

That's what I figured.

Thanks user.

You came to Sup Forums with a serious question?

>AfterEffects does not have GPU rendering.

wut... yes it does.

helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/rendering-opengl.html

That's for "Fast Draft" rendering, nigga.

It's for previewing only and the renderer doesn't use it.

Everything looks good on paper when Adogay posts it on their site, but in theory it's usually garbage.

>Got:
>Good CPU
>7700k
>"Good"

kek

Specific effects may be GPU accelerated
Effects such as gaussian blur are gpu accelerated on a per-effect basis while some other effects may not be gpu accelerated at all
